🇨🇳 ATLANTIC SEAFOOD: www.atlantic-seafood.net/
My food adventures in Los Angeles continued with an early-morning Chinese feast! Come with me and my boy Steve from Rockstar Eater to have Chinese dim sum at 8 a.m. in Los Angeles, California!
My morning began at Atlantic Seafood, which is known for serving the best dim sum in the city. They’re open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and offer over 40 different varieties!
👕 DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH: teespring.com/stores/davids-b...
My friend Steve from Rockstar Eater couldn’t wait to start! He’d never been to Atlantic Seafood, but the place has a great reputation and is located in Monterey Park, which is known for its Chinese population! They say you can get the best Chinese food outside of Hong Kong here!
The restaurant is like a traditional Chinese dim sum banquet hall. The waitresses walk around the restaurants with carts full of dishes. Each one costs less than $4 USD and comes with 2-4 pieces. There were so many things to pick from!
We started with 6 varieties with a mustard and chili sauce. It was super spicy is meant to be mixed with soy sauce.
Our first was a shrimp dumpling, which was spongy and tasty, and I loved the spice! Next was the pork siu-mai, which was meaty and tender with a small amount of wrapping around it.
The barbecue pork buns are one of my favorite dishes to eat in China. I ate one almost every morning. They’re fluffy on the outside and meaty, creamy, and sweet on the inside.
Then, we dove into the beef tripe, which had an amazing, chewy consistency and went well with the sauce. We followed that with black tea, which is customary with dim sum.
Next were the chicken feet, which I’m usually not a fan of because of their gelatinous texture. I loved the sauce on them, but they’re an acquired taste overall because there’s no meat; just skin and gelatin. Then, I dipped the tripe into the chicken feet sauce!
The next one we tried was pork spare ribs, which were light but meaty with a sweet, honey-like flavor. They came with squash on the side, which added a nice sweetness. Some of the ribs have bones in them and some don’t!
Then, we tried the sticky rice wrapped in a lotus leaf, which was very sticky and had a bit of pork sausage in it. I loved the pleasant, sticky texture and the pork flavor!
Next, we tried the shrimp rice noodle roll drenched in soy sauce. It has a lot more noodles than the dumplings from earlier. It’s thick and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and so flavorful! It’s spongy with some nice, meaty shrimp inside!
Shrimp with chive dumplings were next, along with pork siu-mai shunde style with shrimp, fish, and tofu. The pork siu-mai was soupy and like a bite of China! It was incredible! The shrimp with chive dumplings were similar to potstickers and contained tons of amazing chives!
I was filling up, but we moved on to doufu hua, which is a dessert with tofu and sweet syrup. It was very silky and melted in my mouth, with an oatmeal-like texture, and was’t overly sweet.
The baked preserved salty egg yolk bun, baked egg custard tarts, and sesame balls were next. The egg tart has Portuguese influences and was flaky and buttery and contained creamy yolk on the inside.
The sesame ball had sesame seeds on the outside and was sticky and ricey on the inside with tons of red bean paste. Our final dessert was the salty egg yolk bun, which was like a muffin with egg yolk oozing out. It was crispy moist, and sweet all at once!
What an awesome dim sum experience!

Steve, this was a good collab. You need to have an eating partner more often on yr channel, so you can share dishes and have conversation instead of just talking to the camera. Shrimp chive dumpling (pan fried) is my favorite. I've eaten at Atlantic Seafood when I lived in LA, but it was a long time ago. Good Cantonese food.

This is one of our favorite when we visit LA AREA. Next time you eat dim sum, ask for the chili oil to add to your soy sauce. Also that Chinese hot mustard, it's so good, personally is the "wasabi" flavor that will hit you. So good tho! Also try Hum Sot Gol - or say the Chinese football. Lol. Thanks for the video. You guys are awesome.

So glad you got to try more dim sum. There is so much more to try. The old school places with the aunties with the carts are great. They know what's good - you can tell by their smiles. Sit near the kitchen - people snap up the favourite dishes right away. You can also get a big dish of greens or noodles on the side from your waiter. You will be full.

Awesomeeeeeeee DAVID!!!!! I also watch Steve too! Love how you're bringing on subscribers and other RU-vidrs on your show! I find it fascinating to watch your interactions with various people while eating various cuisines. There's so much going on that keeps me glued to the screen. Maybe it's because I'm American but I feel more connected and I can relate more to the people you invite on the show and interact with on your USA series. Love it bro! Haven't had dim sum in years too! Now I need to go get some!

In Chinese, it is etiquette to have a communal pair of chopsticks to serve food out of a communal vessel (i.e. the steamed baskets). You should not be using your personal pair of chopsticks that you've put in your mouth and have contaminated with your saliva put back into the communal vessel. A definite no no when you are sharing a dish.

🤔3:52 "typically"? I don't think so. I have never seen anyone mix all three together, until now. Mixing them seems uncouth to the traditionalist. Each sauce is supposed to have a distinct flavour. 3:57 "Shrimp" is redundant; "har" means shrimp. "Shrimp hargow" = shrimp shrimp dumpling. And it's a shame these days that people don't take the time to hold/use chopsticks properly. Otherwise, another enjoyable video. Thanks.
