As we close out 2022 and head into 2023, I wanted to make a list of some of my favorite and the best weightlifting shoes on the market.
There are a lot of different weightlifting shoes to choose from and every model varies slightly based on its construction. Some models are great for beginners while others excel specifically for the sport of weightlifting.
In this best weightlifting shoes round-up, I included 8 of my favorite weightlifting shoes from this past year that I'll continue to use in 2023.
0:00 Best Weightlifting Shoes Intro
0:30 TYR L-1 Lifter
2:23 Velaasa Strake
4:45 Inov-8 Fastlift Power G 380

9:08 Reebok Legacy Lifter 2
11:11 Nike Romaleos 4
13:09 Adidas Powerlift 5
15:27 Adidas Adipower 3
17:49 Closing Thoughts
In this video, I tried to include a nice wide range of weightlifting shoes that excel for different reasons.
Is there a top model across the board? It really depends on the context of your training and what you prefer with your weightlifting shoes.
All eight of the weightlifting shoes in this video have nuances that help them have their own respective strengths and weaknesses.
If you have additional questions about any of the weightlifting shoes featured in this video, drop a comment below or reach out to me via Instagram (@jake_boly or @that_fit_friend).

Very helpful overview review! Interesting to hear that you found the inov-8 G380s to be quite narrow, as I've heard others say they're quite wide/spacious (one even saying they rival the TYR L-1s in terms of width), this would definitely come down to the anatomy of each persons foot of course.
@thatfitfriend
@thatfitfriend Год назад
Thank you! 🤝 Ehhhh, I wouldn’t go that far with their width. Hit me on IG and I’ll send you a vid side by side of them. Pretty noticeable difference, honestly, but def - anatomy can play a huge role in sizing perceptions! For additional context - I enjoy the fit of the Inov-8 for the most part. The upper around the toe box can feel a little snug on the lateral side, though.

My heel feels pretty loose in the adida powerlifts but ive enjoyed them as a beginner squat shoe. It all comes down to how you sit your foot in the shoe while lacing and strapping it. Im glad i found your channel it is really helpful and well produced. Keep up the quality content.

What you said about the new version of Do-Win's being different makes sense. I bought them because I heard they were good for wide feet, but they're not really that wide. And the sole isn't quite flat either. There's a kind of pivot point that can cause you to rock back and forth. Still not a bad shoe for a beginner. Will probably get some TYR L1's later this year.

I recently bought the Reebok ll2 as my first weightlifting shoes for €120, and I'm so happy with them. To be clear, I'm an amateur, and I've only started doing OLY 2 months ago, so I don't know how valid my opinion might be. Anyway, my first week with them was weird, because I've never used any high heel shoes and was using the Adidas The Total. But now I love them. They are really stable and well constructed. For €120 it might be the best pick.

Great video. I've been eying those TYR lifters, my issue has been transitioning back to heels after going minimal for squatting for so long. Toe box always is too tight and I feel like I don't get good enough feel of the ground b/c of the hard soles.

Another real pro of the Romaleos 4, warranty. I had the 4s for about a year and I don't know I guess I got unlucky and the sole ripped from one end to the other. The warranty process is slow but as long as you are the original buyer and bought within 2 years from a licensed vendor, they'll cover it with a voucher. So I ended up with a replacement covered by them

@@manuelgranada5509 I bought them in my standard size. I have a fat-ish foot, where usually adidas is like a smidge too tight but everything else is good. Thanks for this! How come the Adipower 3's heel height is stated as 20mm in the video (timestamp: 17:25) vs 22mm stated by the manufacturer? I have the Adipower 3 and Reebok LL2 and the Adipower's heel does feel slightly lower but I'm not sure If I'm just imagining things.

Would you recommend the powerlift 5 or savaleos for a entry level shoe for low bar squats, deadlifts, standing military press, bench press etc? I can't decide between the two.
@thatfitfriend
@thatfitfriend Год назад
I'd go Powerlift 5. Also, I wouldn't recommend wearing them for everything and I have content on that! For example, they'll be a sub-optimal shoe for deadlifting and changing your shoe's heel-to-drop drastically for presses don't make a whole lot of sense, too. Can expand on this more if you'd like!

You are right about Romaleos 4's toe box. I ordered my normal size 8.5 and my toes were squashed at the toe box. I returned and ordered size 9. It is still very narrow and uncomfortable in the toebox with size 9. I have a bunion on my right foot, but my left foot is standard size.
@riccardorodriguez1535
@riccardorodriguez1535 Год назад
Man, I feel the Reebok Lifter PR's are so underrated... recently bought them to replace a pair of Adidas Powerlift 3 from years ago, I would love to invest in a higher heel but it's not in the cards at the moment, though I love the fit and stability (what is the stability insert made of? It resembles plastic instead of foam) and feel like I upgraded anyway
@thatfitfriend
@thatfitfriend Год назад
The PRs are awesome and wicked slept-on. I have them included in my written round-up! I regularly rock my PRs for training. I didn't include them here because they're starting to get tougher to find - not because of their performance. Essentially, I wanted to include options that tend to have more availability as we head into 2023!

Jake, excellent videos. I’m pretty sure I’ve watched all of them at least once. I’m looking into the Powerlifts but this video you recommend ordering half size up for normal to wider feet. In your powerlift 5 specific video you say normal to slightly wider fit would order true to size? i've been lifting in the adipowers for a year now, i do find the narrow toe box a little annoying, but my biggest problem is that i slip down those shoes no matter how tight i tie them. No they're not too big on me, so there is a bit of a slip, similar to the rom 4's idk if anyone else had this problem but overall the shoes are ok.

I had Adipower1's for 7 years and I decided to buy the Romaleo4's, since my Adipowers were half size up, I thought that I'll buy my actual shoe size (10/44). At first the shoes felt V E R Y narrow to the point that I'd lose the feeling on my toes (I have wide feet). Then I took the insoles out and replaced them with my old, dusty, worn out and flat insoles of my Adipowers. Now the shoes have much more room and I like the stability that they provide.
