#5 - Reasonable salary is the reason why Chiyaan Vikram has been director's choice for many of their ambitious big budget films like Anniyan, Kanthasamy,Raavanan , I , Dhruvanatchathiram , Irumugan, Covra and Ponniyin Selvan. Thangalan too looks to be an ambitious big budget film.. Hopefully result will be on a positive side this time . Results aside..
For point 8 I would suggest more good shows like Naalaiya Iyakkunar... it was a one of the best things to Tamil cinema as it pushed more directors like Karthik Subburaj and Nalan Kumarasamy to the fore. Even Love Today was a concept made possible from a short film.
I think Tamil cinema needs to venture out to other genres like we had earlier. Just my thought but most movies these days are pure action or focusing on social issues. There needs to be a wider range of genres released
Good resolution list...Among the ones you listed, my top3 pick would be 1. Making 100% director's movie 2. International class webseries that could create potential fanbase and franchise. I liked Vilangu for it's whole tone throughout. 3. More women in cinema,webseries
The directors who can deliver multistarer movies are Mani Rathnam sir and Lokesh kanagaraj because both handle every single character perfectly. And we saw a glimpse of those in Vikram and Ps-1 if Vijay and Ajith collaborate personally I want Lokesh to direct it and I want Mani Sir to handle the legends (Rajni sir and Kamal sir) in his way.

I agree on your points. But I would like to add few points. 1. Cinema is meant for all generations and the need is to satisfy people aging from 6 to 60+. It should not only focus on college goer kids. So resolution is try to make movie content without vulgarity, smoking drugs alcohol etc. 2. Tamil cinema was known for good and sensible comedy and comedians like Vadivelu, Vivek, Santhanam (as a comedian) and many more rather than current comedians like Yogi Babu, Satish, soori.. these guys have produced comedy content but on less probability. Bring back the originality rather than having comedians as only hero s friend. 3. Need of good albums in Tamil cinema and better tamil lyrics of songs from our music composers. I feel the quality of music has been reduced from these composers including ARR, Yuvan, Harris, GVP, Anirudh (though he tops at present) who were at peak at that time, but now only the instant hits are at majority. 4. More distributors, producers and investors on tamil cinema are required. In recent times we can see the dominance of Red Giant and Sun Pictures. But the need of hour are 2 things, heros reduction in salaries and matured fans to understand cinema, creativity and content than blindly supporting their star even the film is a flop. Let's expect good movies and blockbuster movies from 2023 onwards.
For your 3rd point unfortunately nowadays everyone wants a quick and easy hit with stupid and simple lyrics like Ranjithame or most of Anirudh's songs ( he started the trend tbh) but the album quality is still good from ARR and Yuvan , ARR especially keeps improving over the years and has reached peaks that will be never reached again unfortunately to experience his masterpieces you need at least 400$ headphones and equipment to run them ,only then you can appreciate ARR' s talent
@@kannamustafa6043 I accept the fact of instant Hits, but these hit songs will be played until the next hit number comes or even in lesser times. ARR songs also is not doing a genuine job as he was before. Not many people will be ready to invest amount for having the quality of music. We are all blessed to have composers like ARR, myself being a U1 fan, Harris, GVP, Anirudh, SaNa, Ghibran, Sam CS and many more, but the quality has come down a bit.
@@harishbala90 if you can listen to PS1 album on high level equipment,it's an absolute masterpiece and VTK album is close too but yes I agree ,ARR has some misses or half good albums in the last years ,I think he excels only when he is motivated and has got a solid movie with a good director. He is the GOAT of music directors so not surprised he has lost some motivation over the years. U1 has still got his touch like in Love today,very creative album but yes his work on other movies is meh.
First point is the bad thing as every industry doing adult friendly but good storytelling movies so why we have to make movies for kids and ladies only? Nowadays ladies like to watch raw action thriller like saani kaayidham
This is not a big point but I personally love 4th wall breaking elements. This is something that could be experimented with. I normally use to think about the disclaimers which are usually screened at the start of the movies. I don't know if there are any guidelines on how to screen them but the creators may put in some humor or do something innovative to both stress upon the intended message and set the tone for the movie.

Bro can you make a video on various jobs and their role in a movie. From producer, distributor to lightman, vfx etc etc Like an overview of a movie making, I feel this movie industry knowledge is very closed and not available for everyone out there. A normal person like me still doesn't know how to clearly differentiate between story and screenplay and what are all the works involved in it.

Great video. In a recent film companion round table, Kamal sir did say that his wish is to create a film school in Chennai and basically bring back the HQ of South Indian cinema back to Chennai.
The thing I would say is "Audience are Evolving" they have a quite larger medium to expand their knowledge on CINEMA means that not the older generations are introduced to new cinema but atleast us the upcoming generation can able to have the source for watching World Cinema. My resolution for Tamil Cinema Would be something that Don't ever restrict a filmmaker for some template that exist already let the creator be independent and exhibits his own style and the Production house,Star Actors must allow them to do so.Why the star actors are scared of doing an experimental film,give the creator a chance..let them improvise our Tamil Cinema Standard.The heavenly example is that "Vikram" what a wonderful art ..I thank Kamal sir for this great initiative ..we know this man constantly try to improvise our cinema standard..but this time the audience accepted and they are eager to get this kind of films..this Universe and Movie Connect concept is what we are excited growing up..us the younger generation..Im not saying like the usual commercial element won't work anymore ..audience are tired of it..we need refreshing films..we are seeing this world cinema...even our directors would mention some other language or other country directors..My thought is that our Tamil Cinema must be in a position that other country directors are noticing us...ofcourse it has already happend ...but iam mentioning a way that we kinda inspire other country films... Reason why Kollywood stars get/demand huge salaries is because, even today, majority audience come to theatres to watch a movie only because of them. And Kollywood market started expanding (at an profitable level) to overseas only after the 2000s. Only when we attain a wider worldwide market like Hollywood or Korean movies and even our mid-budget movies get international attention, our stars will accept to profit sharing. Until then only their say will be the final.
Agreed...benefit of profit sharing model will also force actors into better script selection and will benefit the industry. They may lack the balls to forge forward with this though as who would not want a guaranteed 100cr.
Heros should give full freedom to director.....I feel really sad for H Vinoth!! I was totally disappointed with Valimai......in the case of Beast it is different I feel....becoz Vijay adopted himself into Nelson's world ...here Nelson failed to use Vijay's potential, as there was such a weak writing....mistake is on both sides....artist dates are so much in demand....these big stars are giving just 2-3 months for the creator to do pre-production works..... recently I got to know that Suda Kongara narrated a script to Vijay.....Vijay asked her to complete the pre-production with in 3 months....but she asked for 6 months....due to Vijay's busy schedule he was not even ready to wait for a good script to come....he just blindly got committed in Varisu !! Now Suda completed her script and it is going to take on floor from Aug with Surita. These things should be changed.... especially big stars like Vijay, Ajith, Rajini, Suriya should give some time for the creators to complete their script
I think we aren't new to the series culture. Long back there was a series (which I would say it) Marma Dhesam and its spin offs which were way ahead of its time. Maybe it can be rebooted to appeal the masses today
Some says they have a huge market, for example ajith and vijay movies have minimum guarantee of 100cr if they reduce the salary then the producers will be overpaid. Some keep on bashing saying they are killing the producers with huge salary demand. The only way to solve this issue is by profit sharing. So top actors like ajith and vijay will come out from their comfort zone (regulars mass movies). Maybe its time for those who put more effort to get paid more.

I have to disagree on star collaborations, especially now. 2022 was a year where Tamil cinema witnesses unseen collaborations. The first exhibit is PS-1, where you get an arsenal of powerhouse stars who each have their own markets. The next is Virkram, which not only managed to incorporate Malayali actors like FaFa, but also sharks like Suriya and VjS. I mean the whole LCU is freaking unreal in any kind of industry at this point. I certainly think collaborations like these will happen more often in coming years.
I’ve always wondered this about Kamal hassan. He always says he’s a product of Mgr, Sivaji and Nagesh. He became a legend because those legends took him under their wing. Why can’t he do the same with the younger gen of actors. Pass on the baton to the next gen so a new list of fine actors can be made?

In tamil cinema, the directors not ready to collab two big actors. Because of their fan base. This is my perception only. If rajini and kamal collaboration, vijay and ajith collaboration happening in tamil cinema. The story must be equal to the both actors. Two actors must dominate story. Perhaps, the director failed to do this. The fans will not accept. Then not only screen, the whole theatre, director will also avenged by fans.😂😂😂

The upcoming Varisu also விஜய் will get same treatment as Beast, but their true kani fans ku 1st day collection matum pothum and story not needed. I wish he stayed that way and vanished from cinema and made their fans regret forever, Thalapathy 67 too much.
Bigil,mersel,kathi ,sarkar was good only .he is overrated because his films got released in Telugu and Kanada ,Kerala . He is a good actor ,only beast didn't satisfy me .

Bro Vikram was a bad example if you are comparing with the sensibility issues in Beast and Valimai. There's a huge stardom difference and fanbase difference for Ajith, Vijay, Rajini and Kamal, Surya Vikram.

Jim Carrey declined an upfront salary for the film 'Yes Man' while got agreement that he will be paid 36.2% of the film's profits. you could google the salary he earned after the release of the movie. Maybe our heroes don't have to that, but at least they could get 50% of their salary in upfront and balance as film's profits. Vikram and Ponniyin Selvan is only possible coz of the actors salary, if they tried it with the previous preferred cast settings they could not have achieved the current achievement. I think forcing in female led films will not be the best approach. It needs to happen more naturally and we can see the negative influences this has in Hollywood. Since, we are a lagging indicator of trends set in Hollywood I do not want our industry to go down the same rabbit hole. One such example is the whole woke feminism led marvel movies and series that have oversaturated western entertainment.

Web series is all about spending money. Those series' are good because they had money. Netflix spend ₹150c for bahubali prequel series in hindi and cancelled it. Foreign companies are slowly becoming gatekeepers of Indian cinema. Netflix, Disney, Amazon Sony would rather spend money in Hindi than in regionals. Nobody holds monopoly on storytelling.
