What are the 8 most common customer objections and how to respond to them. Lightning round of customer role-play w fan favorite Mo Ismail. This is a fun new format we are trying out. Let us know if you want to see more like this in the comments below.
Chris - / thechrisdo
Mo - / moismai
00:18 - 1 - Client is debating to hire you or hire someone full time.
00:55 - 2 - An attorney who represents himself has a fool for a client. Tell me the problem. Tell me the solution. Don't tell me both.
02:34 - 3 - Too expensive! Why are you more than everyone else?
03:18 - 4 - Client is interested, but doesn’t want to commit to a multi-month contract.
04:07 - 5 - Not ready to make a commitment, the client asks for documentation to decide later.
04:50 - 6 - The client says, “I just need a __________”.
06:02 - 7 - Client is looking for a “good deal”.
08:01 - 8 - Proof? I need proof.

@@thefutur I think it's more about "someone who's not friend with The Futur or Chris". Mo is cool but we've seen him multiple times, he knows you so he won't be too hard on you, he won't put you in a bad position: like people said, he's not very combative here. The same video with someone really trying to hire someone, using those arguments, trying to win the debate for real... that would be much more better. Afterward, if we could have the feedback of this "client", telling us how he felt about that kind of talk, it could be really nice :) Well I'm in France anyway so most of the tips can't be applied here (different mentality and way to do business) but I still learn a lot from it. Thank you so much about those video, sorry to be so harsh and so demanding when you're doing such a good job already!

I am in India, I feel the pain of cultural/societal nuances in business. I asked Chris once that I try principles of WWPM often, but I still have to pitch sometimes to win. He said: They are guiding principles, you have to figure out a path. Its like a game of chess. I have been able to grow my business significantly using the PRINCIPLES of objection handling presented by such valuable content by @thefutur.

This IS how it works IRL. It varies between companies, but it's essentially the same. The OUTCOMES are what you are probably referring to. It's not cordial or respectful as this roleplay and real-life blows are traded between corporate entities, but the conversation and problems presented are the same. I have experience dealing with the corporate world, and these videos help reinforce and teach me. Yes, clients don't respond like this. It would be impossible for this guy to address every nuance, but he presents a starting point. And IT WORKS. For example, a client can dismiss or straight up deny truth due to pride, and they can walk away, but at least you didn't compromise yourself on a shoddy deal.

I love the 'lesson' parts! I could immediately apply nr 6 to two situations I was recently in myself, and it was nice to see my own intuition being expressed so elegantly in a sentence. Thank you! But for the sake of intellectual integrity I need to point out that Mo didn't have any objections because he didn't have a real scenario. This was an empty conversation. Chris 'destroyed' every round by just asking for the specifics of a project, which Mo didn't have, because there was no project. Is there a chance you could run through a real scenario that Chris has actually been through? Surely he could spin some argumentative points from jobs done, perhaps even 'ironman' his opponent and then show how he won the client over.... or he could even take a completely new approach! Either way it's great fun to watch Chris' genius at work. Thanks for the output of great stuff! Loving it!

It would be interesting to do a roleplay with someone that isn't a designer or in the industry. This guy is ringing the bell because he already full well knows the value. It would honestly provide way more value to us if you just got a real business owner not closely related to this industry, whose busniess actually would benefit from what the discussion would be on. And roleplay as if they totally are talking about getting this done for their business, but they just don't have to buy anything at the end even if they say yes at the end of the roleplay.

It feels like Mo is just asking straw mans without really following through and pressuring you like an actual client would. "i can give you documents you won't read, are we in agreement with scope, terms, price" Heck no. The client's expressing further interest in a more detailed analytical package to weigh their options. Also wouldn't these be phrased better as "no" questions? Are we in agreement could be "are you against moving forward on these terms/ are you against the scope/price etc?" Easier to say no and commit, than say yes and commit imo.
@bullettin
@bullettin 3 года назад
I'm not sure your reasoning holds up. Creating that detailed document is work/time that should be compensated. The detail is your expertise that is exclusive to you. There is no reason to do work for a client unless they are paying for it. As for the phrasing of the question, that's more about the tone of the meeting and using positive words vs. negative words. The positive words reinforce a cooperative working relationship instead of an antagonistic one.

Style is style, and providing logic to a counterpart during a negotiation could work. But somethimes they don't want to be run over by logic. I can't find traces of tactical empathy in any of your answers. Looks like a little too robotic for my taste and lack of empathy could lead to a brick wall. Client: No, I want to pay that price for more then one video. The Future: How is that any different? Client: We’re talking about videos. The Futur: What do you do again, remind me? Client: I sell digital products online. The Futur: Like eLearning courses? Client: Mmmm. The Futur: Okay, so somebody a client says to you, “I love this course I like to buy this course but I want two courses for that one price.” What do you say to them? “🛎”

It's about the confidence in your self and the product/service that is the value. I started a business teaching people how to trade stocks.. most of them have their eyes pop out when i tell them the price. Once they learn,they think 100k is a discount and I don't even charge that much. Lol Psychology is a big part.
@thefutur

it begins with belief in self. everything comes from this.

I wish I had seen this just over three years ago before I ended up caving on pricing for a consulting project that later turned into an extended full time gig. Won the projected and delivered the result, but being aware enough to use these kinds of responses would have saved a lot of frustration and resentment.
