8 Cognitive Functions picking up the phone 

Lmao I got some not answering the phone stories that would be great to tell but at this point they could still get me in a lot of trouble.

@Pabz Yeah. When am I in the same room as my phone with the sound on? Never.

I've literally thrown my phone into my closet and thrown a pillow on top of- screaming shut up at it- it SO many times. I've had my fair share of busy group chats. As an extrovert, love my friends. However, haha no thank you, you do not need to contact me 24/7. Or ever. Unless you need something from me (because Fe) or you just wanna hang out IN PERSON if the situation allows. (I have a long-distance Bff lol.) I love people, I love talking to people. I love hearing from the people I care about and adore random dropping in to say hi kinds of things in moderation. I still have my own life.

I felt so called out. It used to amaze me that some people don't know the power button doubles as a mute button for incoming calls. But now I understand not everyone is this adamant to avoid calls 😂

I am not even a dominant Ni user but when my auxiliary Ni is functioning, I put the phone in silent mode.

I won't answer the phones of empty desks at work, and sometimes even unplug the connection to my work phone so people don't see me ignoring calls...

The solution: there is no one that I may expect at this hour and I didn't go to others' doors to disturb them uninvited, so I don't answer the door.

The only people calling me are usually telemarketers, phone's just an expensive alarm clock, so I keep mine on silent...and ignore the calls, even though I'm supposed to be an extrovert. Ne-Ti. XD

I almost always get it by the first ring. I'm often asked, - "but you didn't even check who that was. How do you know if it's an important call?" - "If they really want to get a hold of me, they'll leave a voicemail."

Mara I hear that. Most people that know me don't leave voicemails. I always reply with text. It makes it easier to discern if I should answer or not.

You should try some custom ringtone/notification settings. I put GLaDOS on mine and her robotic sass just amuses me. It doesn't make me pick up more often, but at least hearing the phone doesn't piss me off. The old one I used for years: "You are receiving a telephone call. For the convenience of those around you, please acknowledge it. Failure to receive this call in time will result in an unsatisfactory mark on your test report... followed by death. You aren't going to pick it up. How rude. Your parents would be ashamed of you. I'm ashamed of you and I don't even know you. No wonder nobody likes you. I find it hard to believe that you're receiving this call at all."

...or more technically, it doesn't piss me off as often. It's still temporarily irritating to get suddenly interrupted from my thoughts.

Hi Megan, I am also a helping professional and I do the very same thing! I take note of all the calls and plan a day and time to call everyone back after I've had time to digest that other people want/need to speak with me.

This is all soooo very true and accurate.

You can get 1,5h phone call from an INTJ EVERY DAY?! That's very astounding...)

I've had exactly one call that lasted an hour and a half in my entire life. Heck, I've only had 2 calls over 10 minutes, and they've both been with that same friend. Heck, they're pretty much the only person I'll even call without an important reason. I hope they know that they're one of the four people I care about

Same here. I am INFJ but very protective of my time (I’m an enneagram 5)...the Ni and the Ti resonated with me. I will do Fe but avoid it because it’s draining. I think I may be a jumper...

ENFP Consume-Sleep here, and I actually do the same thing most of the time too. Unless I really care about someone, I usually love to have a schedule when it comes to calling people.

yep, as an introverted ENFP, I hate getting phone calls. Especially when I've told people how much I hate phone calls but they assume that I don't mean from them.
