Burn Belly Fat Fast: go.sixpackabs.c...
What's going on, guys? Thomas Delauer here with another video on intermittent fasting. You guys have been shooting us tons of questions revolving around training and intermittent fasting - things like when to train, how to break the fast, training fasted, and other great questions on what to do when you're fasting.
So, today I'm going break down all your questions and drop some science knowledge on you to have you better versed on just how to approach working out if you have been intermittent fasting.
Fasting Tip #1 - 0:26 - Train IN Your Fasting Window: It all comes down to what's known as your "sympathetic nervous system" that controls your fight-or-flight responses. Since you are technically starving yourself during your fasting window, you already are within the fight-or-flight response sympathetic nervous system.
Fasting Tip #2 -0:54 - HIIT Training During Fasting Window = Burning Fat: Since you have triggered your body to be in your SNS (sympathetic nervous system) due to fasting, HIIT or high-intensity interval training styles will help to better mobilize and burn off excess fat cells from the body much more efficiently.
Fasting Tip #3 - 1:14 - Triggering Human Growth Hormone Production: Human growth hormone plus fatty acid oxidation plus your SNS will help better grow and promote changes within your muscles while helping to take off the stubborn fat.
Fasting Tip #4 - 1:32 - Cyclic AMP: When your body is increasing its production of epinephrine, Cyclic AMP works as a messenger to get that into the cells. And when fasting, this messenger works even more efficiently.
Fasting Tip #5 - 1:59 - AMP Kinase: This helps to regulate and disperse energy throughout your cells. This is important for a state of equilibrium for more efficient fat burning.
Fasting Tip #6 - 2:23 - Cardio VS. Weight-Training During Fasting Window: Cardio becomes MUCH more effective while in your fasted state. Since you are at lower base levels of insulin while fasting, you can control the fat burning process much more efficiently while in your fasted state as well.
So, do your cardio as deep into your fasted window as you possibly can.
Fasting Tip #7 - 4:09 - Weight Training During Fasted Window: Since you've been able to have a boost in your HGH (human growth hormone) due to being in a fasted state, this makes any workout more effective, including weight training. Along with proper nutrition and supplementation being taken.
When you train and are feeling that "burn" sensation while lifting weights, that's the build up of lactic acid. And since lactic acid is another trigger for HGH, this is only going to boost and help your efforts to build strong, lean muscle.
Fasting Tip #8 - 6:06 - Timing Your Workouts: You can do your workout towards the end of your fasting window, but what has also been found is that training earlier or in the middle of the window is just as efficient for achieving the results you're looking for.
This is because being within your SNS will last for hours throughout your fast, and even after training. So, mess around with the timing and see what you feel works the best when it comes to how you're feeling throughout the rest of your day and your energy levels.
There you have it, guys - 8 new fasting tips for your workouts that you ABSOLUTELY should understand and implement when doing your intermittent fasting.
What other questions are you concerned with when it comes to fasting? Unsure of what kind of workouts you should be doing? What else are you still struggling with when it comes to losing belly fat and getting six pack abs? Let us know in the comments below what's going on.
And don't forget - Like, Share, and Subscribe to Six Pack Shortcuts.

Great Video as always, I do usually workout in my fasting Window, usually early morning and break my fast in the afternoon. But I do have my Protien shake, like a nitrotech 30 gms of protein shake just after my workout, is this a mistake I am making? Thanks for all your great advice, looking forward to ur reply :D

The huge increase in HGH during fasting is amazing in itself, but throw in a Workout during the end of the fasting window and you can really feel your body getting leaner.

I lost about 100 lbs in a year by doing IF, eating decently (most of the time), and going to the gym three time a week (most of the time). I normally do a half hour cardio, a half hour circuit resistance training. I eat a lot of of big salads, with plenty of nuts, seeds, avocado, canned fish, and other healthy fats.

Been doing IF for 2 weeks now. Granted I upped my gym sessions to 6 days a week instead of 4, but I've never seen such great results before. Starting to get very lean and seeing my abs pop out a bit. I typically workout at 7:30 or 8 am and break my fast at noon. I do the 16-8 fast as of now. Most surprising thing to me is how my energy levels in the gym are improved. I was worried I would feel fatigued but I've never felt as strong in the morning before. Great thing this routine does also is making me drink loads more water. Love it! The science behind it is so cool. Great vid Thomas!

Eating a giant post workout meal after an entire day of fasting does feel godlike though.. Maybe its placebo but whenever i eat while i still have the pump it kinda feels like the food is being sucked right into the muscle. Its hard to explain but its like a feeling that accentuates the pump (might have something to do with carbs/sodium and osmosis i guess).

Awesome Video Thomas! You are one of the most knowledgeable guys. I have been on almost all diets in last 2 years. Nothing comes close to IF. Its the way the body is designed to be. One thing I will like to add studies have also shown that IF increases your BMR (resting Metabolic rate) + Autophagy (Cellular repair). You will become younger and healthier...hence live long..Just be consistent.

I've read that you should workout and then break your fast, everybody says something different. But judging by your body I guess you know what you do, I'd definitely prefer working out a few hours before breaking the fast because it fits my work schedule better

I have struggled with my weight my whole life but around 3 years ago I change the way I eat that helped me lose 80 pounds. By the time, after losing the 80 pounds I kept the same weight and size for about another year but recently, let's say about 4 months ago I have seen my body getting fatter and I still eat healthily. I mean I do not eat empty carbs, I reduced them to the minimum actually I stop eating rice and pasta, sugar, bread, and all that stuff. The problem now is that even when I am exercising a lot more and eating less I am not seeing any positive change, each day I see my belly growing. That is killing me... I IF every day in a protocol of 16/8. I used to break my fast around 2 every day. I did not exercise regularly until 3 weeks ago. Last week I saw one of your videos and I decided to take breakfast after my workout ... I do not know what I am doing wrong.

This regime really works for me. I’m 52 and have a BMI of 24 (upper limit of normal) but have excess fat on my belly and chest. I was struggling to make any impact on this with regular 3-4 weekly workouts. So what I do now is skip breakfast, do workout around 10-11 am then eat my first meal of the day around 2-3 pm. The morning workout really suppresses the hunger (for an hour or two) so I don’t find this difficult. I also find working out on an empty stomach easier than if I have eaten. I seem to be building muscle and losing weight in a way that I’ve never done before.

Thank you Tom! This was very informative. I've been on an intermittent fast for some weeks now and I find that it gets extremely difficult to pull through my workouts because I lack energy due to the fact that I haven't eaten(even when I take pre-workouts). You mentioned that you do your workouts hours before you break your fast. Was wondering how you're able to pull through. Thanks! 💪🏻
@emailkaneilo

From my experience I believe the lack of energy while working out in fasted state in the morning has to be contributed to not getting enough quality foods from the last meal.
@ftbsecret
@ftbsecret 7 лет назад
Are you sure you eat enough of everything? I don't lack energy, it is always good to listen to your body, there are several IMF methods maybe you should switch up some stuff to find out what makes you feel better, lack of energy sounds like your body didn't go into the fight or flight mode yet.

I started IF in 2018, it changed my life and body. I fell off a bit but I'm back, stronger & more informed than ever. I can attest to the energy levels. They are naturally off the hook during a fasted state. I typically do 20 - 24 hours fasts and break with everything lol. I'm a vegetarian so I get lots of veggies, fats & proteins in that meal. I'm usually good. Every now & then I may eat a little more, equivalent to a snack worth of food a few hours after the fast is broken. Results are amazing w fasted workouts & riding the wave.

Get away from the "bulking/cutting" bodybuilding dogma - this is being replaced by more modern research. Basically, you can do both at the same time because muscle is almost entirely built while you are resting, ie. while you're asleep. So you can workout and fast during the day and, as long as you get a good couple of meals during your eating windows (think quality salmon, chicken and broccoli), you'll be able to simultaneously trim fat and build muscle.
@YungR0
@YungR0 7 лет назад
GamerNate Totally agree. With regards to training in a fasted state? Is it best to alternate between cardio and weight training. Or can you simply weight train then have a quick cardio session?

let me run something by you real quick. So I eat my big meal at about 3 4pm, workout at 7 8pm (maybe eat a banana in between), and then drink a protein shake and eat a tuna sandwich or chicken salad after my workout. So i stop eating at about lets say somewhere between 10 and 11pm. Is that efficient or am i way off with this lol? I just started so i couldn't tell by results. I like working out in the evening, and really want to eat something after my workout, thats why i took this approach, but is it any good or am i wasting my time haha?

Marcelo Hernández Venegas Try to do it in the morning instead. Else just eat after that. But it's best to be getting up early - substantially fewer distractions, and you'll find the most successful people wake up at 05:00, 04:00, or even 03:00.

Hey Thomas, great video! I have been intermittent fasting since November 2016 till now. I've been following the one meal a day protocol exercising in my fasted window. I normally workout at 4pm and eat between 6 and 7pm. I saw amazing results in the beginning, lost 40 of my 270 lbs, had an increase in strength and felt great! However now I do not see any improvements, in fact I'm starting to gain some of the weight back. I have been adhering fairly well with the occasional extra meal here and there. I would say that I'm 90% on my regime. I feel like I've plateaued or my body has gotten use to this and has slowed my metabolism down to accommodate my lack of intake. I am not hungry at all throughout the day but famished come 6pm at dinner time. Any advice to get things going again? Because I really like omad as I feel great, energetic, focused etc, all the things I've come to expect this diet would do. Hope to here from you. Thank you Dan

Steve Ciancone since you're starting I suggest you stop eating at around 9pm and fast until 3pm. That's a 17 hour fast and it leaves plenty of room for you to get a early workout. The whole idea is you take in less calories than you take in so you're in s caloric deficit. I usually plan my 2 meals so that they're around 800 calories each or you can be safe and do two 600 calorie meals in case you want snacks. All in all its the best way to do it

Meal one= 12-12:30 daytime Meal two = 7 pm dinner Then I may have a shake at 8-8:30 at the latest then my fast starts from the time of this shake I have? Naseebullah Amani The basic rule is to diet to burn fat, and exercise to build muscle. Your fat cannot be used to build muscle - you need to consume protein/amino acids for that. So just set your macros, stay at a slight defecit, and let the fat disappear to reveal your newly gained muscles.

I have been following daily IF with LCHF for a couple years and have lost 45 lbs. I have not been working out until last week when I signed up for the public pool. I am swimming 600 m on Mon-Wed-Fri. My feeding window is between 1 pm and 7 pm. Should I also eat with a calorie deficit? If so, should I do it on my swimming day or the day before ?

What if you’re doing alternate day fasting? Should you work out (weight train) on fasting days where no calories are consumed?

Thanks for the informative video! I really enjoy learning news things from watching these! My questions is I have been training (mostly weight with some light cardio) for the past 3 weeks with IF (16-20 fast window) and I have lost a significant amount of muscle. I am on a moderate calorie deficit and relatively HFLC diet. What's the reason for this? Does this mean I need to cut back on fast window or increase my intake??? Thanks!!

I eat between 12pm and 7pm and get into the gym usually around midnight. I felt like I am doing the wrong thing, because you have to eat before/after workout, right? Now I am actually going to feel good about it. If you gained those muscles by working out on an empty stomach, why shouldn't I? :)))

DeLauer is pretty much the Dr Oz of the internet. Don’t get me wrong, I like his content, but the guy CONSTANTLY provides information that contradicts previous videos. He’s a smart dude, definitely knows the science of things, but as anyone interested in science knows, for every study there is a similar study with the opposite result. TBH, his videos tend to leave me with more questions than answers. BECAUSE I KNOW I’ll have people who oppose this position, I’ll use this EXACT video as proof of this. I recently saw another video by Thomas suggestion you that after weight training you should introduce carbs and protein because it will not break your fast because it has virtually no impact on your insulin levels post workout in a faster state. To paraphrase, he said basically the damage has already been done, so you can introduce these nutrients into the body with no real impact on your blood sugar/insulin response. Not hating, just wondering if anybody else has similar feedback, or anything that would clear up this contradiction for me. Thanks.

Since this video is made when Muslims are observing Ramadan ( No food or drink from sunrise to sunset), what would be the optimal training window for those observing it and would you still suggest cardio since water is not allowed?

Can you do both? Like 30 min cardio and core/glute work outs. Max an hour work out.

i totally agree doing cardio during fasting , since cardio use Type I twich fibers. But when u actually lift weight ,u use type II a,b muscle fibers. These fibers demamd glucose to work, so how can u workout properly when u are using your fat storage ? Never the less , muscles grows during sleep , when my insulin is low enough for HGH to run my bloostream

I typically cycle 120 miles per week, including 1 long say 70 mile ride. I have just started IF and the short 20 mile rides are no problem but I'm a bit scared to try a long ride.

Do "pre-workout" drinks mess this up? When do you recommend we take pre-workout drinks? Or don't take them at all ??
