Cause even though borsch is definitely Ukrainian, for historical reasons it's widely popular in Russia and Belarus as well. So for people not knowing specifics of the region, it might be a bit indirect clue. Like, the same way Belarus is famous for its potato production and amount of potato-based dishes, but Ukraine and Russia are into potatoes as well.

Thank you for this video (and some others), looking forward to seeing more of them. It was actually funny for me to see that other girls on the video were unable to recognize some common languages, like you speaking German, or Italian, or Portuguese. On the other hand, I grew up traveling in Europe and had a very good chance to listen to all of them - but people on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean (right where I am living) do not have the same opportunity.

I would say the Swedish girl have a strong Swedish accent, although people might have hard to place that, people that are not native english speakers would usually guess me on UK... Chocolate have a special history in Norway & Sweden too, Marabou was set as a sister company to Freia (founded 1889) that had a popular chocolate in Norway.

Fyi, Luxembourgers are the same ethnicity as Belgians.

Luxembourg in its entirety was always part of the Belgian states throughout history and just like the rest of the Belgians are a mix of Belgae, Frankish and celtic peoples. This is together with dutch people from North Brabant/Limburg and French people from Nord-pas de Calais Anymore north or south you'll find different ethnicities/ genetic makeup

Unless looking at the fact that we are all interlinked by our genes, I find the term "ethnicity" very misplaced here, especially, e. g., with Portuguese being the most encountered language in the streets of Düdelingen. ;-)

I admit that goes for me too, the East is just a blur... We don't hear much about that part of Europe in school (except for Poland and maybe the Czech Republic), it's always just the UK, France, the Netherlands, Spain... ect. The other blur is Belgium, I don't know why. It's a pity.

Indeed. I have good friends from France, western Europe and for them Lithuania, Baltics, eastern european and central european countries seems very exotic and they indeed do not have a real knowledge about it. But it is very understandable if you look to historical and other contexts

I think it’s due to the geopolitical past where they all where just “soviet” and the cultural differences were not focused because the regime tried to erase Slavic and Baltic identities creating a big blob of Russian blandness.

Latin countries have much stronger accents. Especially for us the French it's almost impossible not to be given away by our accent, because of our Latino-Celtic pronounciation

I'm Swiss and greek. People often asked me if I was Italian or Spanish (or started to talk to me in spanish/italian). In such a setting my accent would give it away though.

I’m Turkish. Absolutely she looks Turkish. Also have seen absolute same look in Spain and Italy. But Swiss? She looks nothing like Swiss. So she should have been there representing Turkiye.
