Reading "Radiance." What a wonderful book! One of the few fantasy romance books where every word spoken is something you know would come out of the characters' mouths. Beautiful love story.

ToG is definitely one of my favourite series of all time. But I was very pleased to find that I didn't know a lot of the books in this video, so got to add a lot more to my TBR list!

Thanks Jean! Yes, I just do better with SJM when I put her in romance. Kiss of Deception is very good if a little gimmicky but the sequel is amazing

I just read Radiance by Grace Draven last week, and LOVED it! I wish it was a bit longer but really loved the relationship between the two main characters. It really took me by surprise. After reading the ACOTAR series by Sarah J Maas and the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon I really found that I love fantasy romance...done right! Love you videos too!

Kai are mostly like humans but with a darker skin tone, their eyes are different because they’re awake during the night stead of the day. They have some magic and a few other things. The have an arranged marriage for the mutual benefit of their two countries and decide to make the best of things and really get to know each other. It’s not off putting at all. They grow to really respect each other and them at turns into a friendship which turns into love.

Great question Nicole! I wasn’t sure what to think either but they are fairly similar to humans with some key biological and cultural differences. It was a little strange at first but I ended up loving it as a way of showing how they came to love each other despite their differences.

Ahhhh you need to read Entreat Me by Grace Draven, I'm pretty sure that's my favorite of hers! I think. Maybe. I love all of her books but Entreat Me is definitely amazing

You've sold me on the Grace Draven book. I've been I will and I won't on this one, but you've pushed me to the I Will side. Parasol Protectorate series is great. 😍 You might want to give The Others by Anne Bishop a try. Just excellent world building, great characters (both main and side), topical plot and themes. One of my favorite series with one of my favorite couples. It is Very slow burn, but so worth it. Also, Burn by Suzanne Wright (Dark In You series) is excellent. It's a great paranormal /UF so there is a mystery element. It does get steamy. Then I also recommend everything Ilona Andrews. If you want a great read with a little bit of everything awesome then pick up something from them. (or better yet pick up everything from them) 😂

Patricia Briggs Alpha and Omega series and Her Mercy Thompson series both have romance and are great series.

I know this is a rather old video, but wanted to throw out that for those interested in this type of book, Sharon Shinn is a great author that I greatly enjoy and isn't super well known. Nothing explicit, but romance is central and all of her books are fantasy/sci-fi. Recommend all of her books, but Summers at Castle Auburn is a lovely standalone, and I love her Twelve Houses and Samaria books. :)

I love to see people appreciate ToG for what it is. A fantasy romance. Not some dark assassin story and I think that’s what a lot of people were expecting. As a fantasy romance, it’s very enjoyable! I don’t like ACOTAR personally, I actually hated the characters 😄 I love your recommendations! They always make me super interested in a bunch of books! Poor wallet lol

My fave fantasy romance series is definitely the nine kingdoms by Lynn Kurland, she is a romance author (I’ve never read her other books though) and it’s set in a world with magic, assassins, waring kingdoms, evil magicians and elves but is definitely focused on the romance (each couple is a three book arc)
