I was one of Fagin's boy pickpockets in the Broadway cast of "Oliver!" where Davy played The Artful Dodger. On occasion I would play The Artful Dodger if Davy had to miss a performance. Davy and I kept in touch through the years and I spoke with him on the phone just a week before his death. Another of the boy pickpockets in the Broadway "Oliver!" was Alan Paul who went on to be one of the jazz vocal group The Manhattan Transfer

Thanks for sharing this. I was very fortunate to have met him twice. The last was at a Hollywood Show in February 2012. I had the chance to hug him, talk to him, get an autograph and my picture taken with him. A very nice and multi talented man. I had no idea that in just three short weeks after that, he would be gone. I will always be grateful I was able to be there that day to see him.

Interesting because one of my kitties is named Amber Springboard after the daughter of my fav star.I was a big fan of Peter Tork.Didn't have any daughter's myself.Just boys.And their father didn't like unusual names or ones he couldn't spell/pronounce.

A close friend whom I graduated high school with was road manager for the Monkees. They did a concert in our city and, because the hotel they were staying in was besieged by fans, David called me and asked if they could come out and spend some time with my family. I said yes, of course. I went down to the hotel and met them in the back of the hotel and we drove out to my parents home where my mother cooked them supper. It was a fun several hours. Believe-it-or-not, we watched an episode of "Twilight Zone" and "Gunsmoke." They had a relaxing night and put on a great show the next night.

I loved The Monkees……..period. Loved them all!! I was devastated when Davy passed away. I was driving and then I heard on the radio that he passed. I cried so hard I had to pull over. Then Peter and then Mike. I am very sad that 3 of them are gone. I hope Mickey is doing ok.❤

The nightly news was on TV. I was on my computer in another room when I heard the news that Davy had died. I ran to the living room and sat there in disbelief. Then I cried. How could this beautiful human be dead!? I was only 11 years younger than Davy. I've now become older than he was. How could this gentle soul be gone?

Was my favorite... at 12 I loved him for his looks but after Mike Nesmith passed, I learned about the whole group and admired Davy for more than just his looks. He was kind, generous and thoughtful.

I remember when Davy died I cried myself to sleep the first week. I even cried while watching him on The Brady Bunch. It was then that I realized what a beautiful voice he had! RIP Davy!

His song & dance routine in Head shows how talented he really is! He sings Daddy's Song written by Harry Nilsson. The dance routine switches back and forth from white to black. You just have to see it. He and Mickey Dolenz were child actors. They all complemented each other.

Davy Jones was my favorite of the Monkees. It was very sad to hear of his passing. He as well as Peter Tork & Mike Nesmith will always be in our hearts. 💙💙💙💙Hopefully Mickey Dolenz will continue with us for many more years to come. He’s the last one still standing.

I remember when I was in 6th grade, way back then, while in class my teacher handed out Weekly Readers and one had a photo of the Monkees when their show came out. Davey was my favorite! My best friend liked Peter. My wall had the latest posters of him from 16 Magazine!! I still have all my Monkee lps! I will never part with them! Does anyone remember him singing "Cuddly Toy"?? I miss his smile and of course his accent! RIP Davey!!

"Beatlemania" began the night the Beatles played the Royal Variety Show on Nov 4, 1963 - Not the 2-9-64 when they played their first Ed Sullivan. I met Davy 2 weeks before he died and he was everything I'd hoped he would be. I adored him from the first time I saw him on The Monkees.

Davey filled my heart when I was a little girl. He had everything a girl could wish for. His intelligence and determination made him different to others in that generation that were on offer to entertain young people. I felt for him. My favourite quote was ftom a doco not long before I heard of his passing. It was the last thing he said and he pointed at the camera, again with that independent nature, “Never give up on your dream!”

It's Tali. I am a big fan of the Monkees I still have a few LP's. And disks of the band. It was very interesting to hear about Davy's life some of the ditals I new some was new to me. Davy was my favorit and then Micky Mick & Peter. He sang all the romentic songs with his English accent I love to listen and I will remember him for ever 🌻

I met him as well. In Georgia. He was at the wizard of Oz. Had dinner at Veni Vidi Vici afterwards. He came in and had a party down stairs... and and I closed the place. Had a fun night of sitting at the back table facing everyone and people watching. Met the chef, smoked cigars with the owner and chef and head maître d’. And Davy came up and thanked everyone. I had met him at the show. He laughed and said. Wow. I ran into again! He had a party of yes people with him. 😆 if you know the types. He sat down and talked for 15 minutes and bid us a good morning. It was 330 am. Had a blast! He was charming! And I had the biggest crush on him when I was young. I said fancy meeting you here. 2 times! He said no no. 3rd. I saw you first. Haha. Oh. I blushed so hard. The whole table laughed at me. Oh. What a fun exciting experience that was. Just a trip to get away work a little relax see a show... turned into, a wicked memorable trip. When I flew home. I had a lighter from a club... I worked at. X-rayed it looked mighty suspicious. Whole bunch of officers surrounded me made me pull it out... had their hands on their hips. It’s a naughty lighter. I must confess. Lady on her knees. Fella behind her, push his legs and he you know... and a flame come out the front. Hahahahahaha. I made officers blush. All of them!! Hahaha! I said Oh. My. Am I in trouble? All’s I have a lighter. I knew they thought it was a “piece”... Mama’ we need to see this, has anyone touched your bags. I’m like nope. It’s just a lighter... Hahahahaha their faces when I lit 🔥 it... 😯☺️ We laughed for a few minutes. And I thought. This trip will go do in my history... What fun! Lots of connections and lots of laughs. Very fun indeed!

Yes Davy Jones was my favorite person in the Monkees group but i still liked Mike Nesmith Peter Tork and Mickey Dolzen but all in all I still love ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Davy Thomas Jones I love ❤️ him since the Monkees aired in 1966 for the first time ever but when he died I was heartbroken for sure 😢😮😱😞😫☹️😢😢 because I had a crash on him now and then I hear him sing and I started to cry

Davy was the only Monkee that did not have to audition for the show. Columbia Pictures productions and recording for the Colpix record label and had been identified in advance as a potential star for the series.

Davy has always been my favorite singer even before I knew about the monkees what are we going to do? And the girl from Chelsea were my favorite songs he did before monkeemania I always admired him as a human being not a rockstar or teen idol And I never really recovered from his death it still saddens me to this very day I just remember me and my grandmother getting the DVDs of the monkees just 3 months before he passed away and I was just in shock for quite a while after it happened then losing my grandmother several years later really saddened me more but hopefully she and Davy are in a much better place and finally got to meet each other. I had 2 chances to meet him but for personal family reasons I wasn't alow to go so I missed a major opportunity there so I really kicked myself very hard after his passing.

I never really thought of Davy's voice as special. But, what made it work was his perpetual.. I'm a resource, angle of managing the same at thru things And of course his big smile cute face. The additional thing was the mode the Monkees promoted themselves in. Zany boys becoming men thing, without going into, intentionally, crime activity, to make it.
