Good general tips! The devil lies in the details, though. First of all, your phone needs to be eSIM capable. That's pretty much iPhones and Android flagships. Other than that, you're out of luck and you need to get a physical SIM card. Also, it would have been nice to actually get some info on how to get the pasmo card. It doesn't seem to be that easy!

Thank you for the comment, much appreciated. The pasmo passports are really easy to get, but you are correct, I didnt mention that. They are available at the information desk which is the first thing you see when entering the airport train station. They have a large poster up with a picture of the pasmo passport on it. Its really straight forward. Physical sims are available for rental at the airport, again all at the information centre or desks next to it, much like car rentals in airports. Ill pin you comment so it can be easily found for this info. Thanks again!

Thanks for the tips Dan! I was wondering, does luggage pose a challenge when you're navigating between multiple different cities in Japan? How did you handle it? Thanks again!

Hiya! Luggage can be a pain if im honest, We both had a relatively small wheelie case and a backpack and found the amount of stairs in the train and subway stations a bit of a challange. There were escalators in most stations, but not all. There is also a size restriction on shinkansen trains which can pose a challange when travelling long distances. There are luggage forwarding services in most places, such as the airport and alot of major train stations which come highly recommended and are very efficient and low cost. Theres services will send your luggage to your hotel for you, in some cases within a few hours. I think on our next trip to Japan it is something we will definitely try this type of service out! I hope thats of some help and thank you for watching!

You can also fill out your customs and immigration form on Japanweb before you travel to save yourself some of the hassle when you arrive

It was all good! No one really batted an eye at me in any city, but i imagine if you go further out into the countryside it might be a thing. I did get a couple of compliments on my ears in Harajuku though 😂 From what I undersrand if you want to go to a gym or onsen, youll either need to tape/bandage up your tattoos, or if they’re too big for that, you’ll need to find tattoo friendly venues. Thanks for the watch and comment!

Which ATM was free of charge (if any)? :)
@DansOutandAbout

There seems to be a small fee to use all international ATMs, but we found the ATMs in Familymart were the cheapest, withdrawing 40000¥ (just over £200) the fee was a around 400¥. Im sure that would chnge with the exchange rate, but it wasn’t too bad.
