Absolutely outstanding. You amazing Wander Women out hiking in Oregon's record shattering historic heat wave is incredible. I barely stuck my head out of my air conditioned house over the weekend when it reached 117 degrees, It was like a blast furnace. Stay safe, I loved seeing you in the lake fully clothed!
Ouch ! Did the temp really get that high where you live ? Where was that ? I've heard it reaching 120 degrees (think it got to 123 one year) in Death Valley but not outside of there. I'll have to check to see if I can find the record breaking temps on the West Coast during this heat wave. 97* was the hottest I saw in the Northeast (New England) during the past week. That was hot enough for me. Stayed inside most of the time.
@@djg5950 We live in Salem, Oregon and on Sunday it was 113 and then shockingly, on Monday it got to 117. We were the second hottest place in the entire world, exceeded only by Palm Springs.
@@smchas I can sympathize with you. I hate summer for that reason alone. I'd rather it be 20 degrees with blowing snow, LOL ! At least you can put on a coat and wool hat and mittens. I get crabby anytime it gets over 90*. Good thing I don't have to cook supper for anyone but myself. "You want supper ? There's some ice cream in the freezer (my choice for dinner on really hot days)."

Back in 1985 a friend and I hikes the PCT all of Oregon! My favorite hike in Oregon is the timberline trail around Mt Hood. you will hike on part of it as you pass by mount Hood. We also hiked the wonderland trail around Mt Rainier. We are planning on hiking the sawtooth mountains in Idaho this year. I am really enjoying you adventure!!!!! I am also in the middle of a cargo van conversion. I will be hitting the road full time this fall. I will be exploring Alaska for six months then explore western North America for 5-7 years. You ladies are surely my inspiration! It was nice to see Ashland! I got to trail angel there in 2019. We were in Ashland for 10 days. We had brought some youth to attend a camp at Southern Oregon University. So anytime I can get a glimpse of Ashland just makes my day!
I'm loving your journey hiking the PCT. You, women look amazing. Your skin is beautiful. I laugh when you say you're only going to go 13 miles. I hike in the Northeast, but my hikes are no longer than 8 miles. You are an inspiration to all us hikers who dream of doing what you are achieving. Happy hiking⛰🙏

I worried about you and the heat but I should have realized you would know exactly how to handle the situation. You 3 must write a "how to thru hike" book. Wisdom comes of doing. That water pump looked hard to use, how would a lone person do it. NIce stop at Fish Lake Resort. The lake looked like fun and I liked your eating plan. Even when you complain, no it's just telling us how it is, you sound positive. Continues to be so beautiful. Take care, be safe.

I hate to hear how hard the miles are for you at times....BUT, it's refreshing to hear 3 women, who are KILLING it on these long trails, talk about the "shuffle" into camp. I appreciate the realism and find it comforting to know I'm not alone when it happens to me. If that makes any sense. :-)
I kept hoping that a thunderstorm would pass through in the late afternoon and you would film a rainbow. That way you could say that long distance hiking really is all butterflies and rainbows and prove it for once. Ha ha ! You guys are killing it with putting in the big miles during this heat wave. Best idea is starting early and taking a 5 hour break eating ice cream and swimming with your clothes on (killing two birds with one stone). Even wore your shoes in the lake, ha ha ! I was surprised to see that area with all the darker rocks covering the hillside. From an old volcano eruption ? Strange landscape but still beautiful with the mountain peaks in the distance. I had my eye on that small patch of snow you passed. I would have flopped down on that for a bit. Like this video better than the others (maybe not the most beautiful section) but the whole video was more interesting with the scenery and challenges. Killing It. Has to cool off some day. I just found your channel. I love it. I’m 65 n a small miles hiker and outside gal . Your living my dream. I was a literacy teacher n have been tutoring since l retired from full time work. I am hoping to do parts of the AT in the fall. I live in Maine and camp in my truck . Peace out
