These tiny changes may seem small but they have changed my life. As a minimalist I've seen that its the little habits done over a long period of time that make the biggest difference.

I am 65 and spent my whole life (so far) taking care of everyone else -- my crazy mother, all the kids she had, my kids and now my husband. My husband would rather D.I.E. than do something he doesn't want to. The "live for yourself" advice is spot on. I intend to spend the rest of my life doing what I have always wanted to. He is welcome to join me any time he wants ... But I have things to do!! 😊

@@NewCreation6123 I feel ya girl!! Right now I have a half dozen rabbits (mostly for the butt nuggets they give me for the garden 😁), 10 chickens (for eggs for me, the old man, and a couple of neighbors), a dog that was dumped at a nearby lake who followed me home 8-9 years ago, 2 kittens I rescued from under a porch, and a baby sparrow that was trapped in the automatic door at Walgreens a few days ago. 😬😬😬 But they are different. They love me no matter what and they are what keeps me from being a real psycho. 😉 I was severely injured in an accident 3 years ago and thought my life was over. But ... I've made some MAJOR changes in the last few months. Quit a job I couldn't handle (too physical for the injuries I have), quit worrying about everyone else and started taking care of me. I still have a LONG way to go but you can get out. The trick for me was baby steps. I never get EVERYTHING on my list done but I get SOMETHING done every day. And I've finally scared the old man into believing he will die a slow painful death if he doesn't leave a room EXACTLY like he found it. 😁😉🤣 I love that man but DAMN he is a slob. 🤷🤷🤷

The secret to wealth is saving for a better investment. I feel exceptionally lucky I started investing in my early 40s and compounded my income to create more cash flow. I grew to a 7 figure well-diversified portfolio having exposure to different prolific investments mainly blue chip stocks, bonds and high yield dividend funds. ever grateful to Trisha Jean Webb my F.A... Now house and cars all paid off and no other debt.

I'm 33, 34 in December and I've always looked after others. I was my mum's unpaid carer since I was about 7/8, mainly to keep her happy and make sure she felt loved. I do everything I can to help the environment and do right for others. I'm always happy to look after my fur babies and help someone else's as well.

- SUMMARY - - Set a timer for 5 minutes and then clean - Make terrible stuff (do something is better than do nothing) - 5 seconds rules (countdown from 5 and then DO IT) - Live for yourself - Set systems not goals - Talking to professionals (therapist) - How can this be positive? (find a positive pov in all situations) - Be a criminal (breack some rules)

5 minute rule is brilliant! I set 5 minutes on my watch timer with it auto restarting indefinitely. 5 minutes to put away wash, 5 minutes in bathroom, 5 minutes in kitchen now I'm 5 minutes to watch youtube and then I goto the living room. Having my watch go off and vibrate is the perfect reminder to "just keep moving"

Five minutes timer to clean is “life changing”. I get so much done in just five minutes and use this method all throughout my day. My toddlers have even caught on and will say “Alexa, set a timer for five minutes” and will pick up there toys.

Good advice!! I have a 1 is better than none rule which, in effect is very similar to what you're saying. I also have a rule (for myself) that demands that I do "quick things" such as 100 steps on my treadmill rather than standing around waiting for my toast to get brown ha! etc. I love your create systems advice. Setting goals doesn't mean just speaking them.

Ok got the cringey RU-vid video channel started✔️ Got everyone involved in cleaning the house for 5 minutes ✔️ Reread Atomic Habits and am on a 9 day streak of building a better system. Positively enjoyed watching your new video ❤️ Bent the rules a little by going on a morning stroll at work today while waiting for my machines to warm up. Great video, loved the sheep footage from your vacation.

Looking for the positive in all things is very fun and so relaxing. If I miss a street when driving I believe I’m supposed to go a different way and it kept me safe… maybe it kept me out if an accident or getting a flat tire! I slightly disagree with the last idea. I had an ex that said, that wasted 2 minutes of my life. It’s like… RElax! It was so irritating. Plus, maybe you’re suppose to take the extra two minutes putting away dishes because it kept you from getting into a car accident later when you left the house (Remember? Lesson number 3! Look for the positive).

Gabe, love your channel. I actually met you and your lovely wife in 2019 at The Elms. I scanned your tickets and assured you it was OK to take pics on the lawn. I only worked there one year. I only realized this when I saw the video clip of you on the lawn of the property, I didn't know your name or anything, youtube just presented you in a minimalist search. :) Gosh it is a small world. You and your wife were polite and kind. Wishing you all a lovely life.

Great stuff. I am gonna jump start a few things this weekend regarding systematizing the 'goals', setting deadlines for the individual steps of the process. Having a detailed, yet manageable, list of such tasks seems much more doable than looking at the gargantuan 'end goal'. Also just ordered a couple digital timers to minimize the wasted time in front of the computer when supposedly 'working'. I have found that the total hours of wasted time in an evening can be HUUUGE. That translates to MUCH lost opportunities.

The countdown thing is interesting. I never thought about it that way. I have done it randomly when turning off a hot shower that is so damn comfortable but I'll have to try it when waking up from a nap. I'm often annoyed with myself, knowing I want to nap for 30 minutes and even setting an alarm won't get me up. I often take a second nap immediately and the next thing I realized, I wasted my whole afternoon napping for 2-3 hours. I'll definitely try the countdown stuff to apply to more things in life.
