Good video, Randy. You do a great job of explaining the subject matter. If the engineering stuff doesn’t work out, you would make a great teacher. While I run EFI on my 68 Camaro, I do enjoy learning about the old school stuff. Keep the vids coming.

Randy, Thanks for putting this together. I run a BBC in a dragster with a Kinsler MFI. I've run this combo for 20 years. I'm constantly told to upgrade it. I'm an older guy who likes to drive my car, not let a computer do it for me. After 20 years, I feel there's still so much to learn. I have found several nuggets in your videos. For some reason I thought it was a great idea to scrap the K&N filters and put a scoop on it. A whole new set of challenges. Time will tell if that was a good idea. Thanks again for your information!

You are the first one to breakdown and actually show the principal of how the barrel valve works. Excellent review of the entire mechanical FI. Unfortunately, it looks like FIE has removed any link to their calculators! :Edit . . . the calculators works now.

Hi Chip. Thanks for the comment. I just tried the link and it seemed to work. Will mess with it in the morning. Don’t forget, you need to register to get access. Its no threat to do so. Lmk if you still have problems. Randy

@@digitaloverdrivesystems Thanks for your reply. I tried it today on my phone and the calculator link was back and worked fine. Now I'm on my computer and it works as well. Very strange! The other day I drilled around for 20-30 minutes and couldn't find any calc link.

I appreciate your efforts in this video series on mechanical fuel injection Randy. Great information here. Can’t wait to see your car. Start up. I have a complete set up (Hilborn) that I have yet to fire up.

Randy, As others have said, you've created a great teaching resource here, really well done, thank you. I found your series while looking for answers to the questions I had about 410 sprint cars. Why Methanol and why MFI?. Things that work well aren't often discarded and they've used both forever but I wondered what drove that choice in the first place? Did one choice drive the other? etc But I couldn't even find anything that explained how MFI basically works so this is a great series.

Correction 90 percent or more through the barrel valve not idle bypass, but like u said most of this will be trail and error! Can’t wait to mess w all this stuff, thanks again

Great content Randy Wade, these videos answered many questions I had & simplified a sometimes complicated injection system! ( I like the reverse jet explanation ) when sizing pills.

I really really appreciate you making these videos on constant flow! I have watched all them multiple times and will continue to do so until I am able to purchase my first pump and barrel valve. I am hoping to apply this to two projects; one on a 750cc v4 honda motorcycle, and my 2011 v6 mustang both on gasoline for everyday use So my first of many questions I have would be sizing the pump for such a small motorcycle engine. Obv I would prob be base to start w a 200 or even 100 series pump, and expecting to have to bleed off maybe 90 percent or more through the idle bypass just to get it to run. The pump will be driven off of the cam, which brings me to my next question of when the rpm is more than 8000, like this Honda motor has a redline of almost 14000, so maybe I’d set my high speed bypass pressure much higher but w the smallest volume pump so it won’t lean out so much at such high rpm. I’ll formulate my questions better as I get closer! Thanks again, mechanical systems are the best! I work on a lot of carburetors and don’t want to get into tuning fuel injection on the computer like w the modern systems. Thank you! Thank you! -kalen
