8-String Klezmer Fiddle - Captivating old/new sound - Daniel Hoffman 

Awesome. All my life I have loved Klezmer music and I also played some tunes on the violin, accompanied by my father ( now 90 years old) on the piano. I am German and my heart is full of sadness about the empty spaces that the Jewish Klezmer musiciens left. Never to be filled. Never.

What an amazing sound. I always liked the sound of 12 stringed guitars, but that it is possible with a violin to have that resonance strings, I never thought of! Great playing also!

This is...really incredible to listen to. I never knew what Klezmer was until maybe 2 days ago, but it really goes hard. I feel like a dork for saying something like this, but it's just really got a lot of depth. Plucks the heart strings and makes your want to dance from someplace way down inside yourself. It's the $h!t.

Has similarities to Hardanger fiddle of Norway which has the extra 4 strings under the fingerboard

How is this strung? I’m assuming it’s the typical GDAE with doubled strings either an octave up or down? What gage strings do you use, and do you have to special order them? Or can you just buy two standard packs of strings and string it up? And is this a traditional instrument, or a modern innovation? So many questions!! Thanks for humoring me.
