Hey say I been wanting to tell you something. So I did 5 years in prison. I found your show and I lived it. I would watch your show everyday even on reruns. Once I got out I wanted to get a cat and show him love like you show them. 7 years now I been out I adopted 3 cats and make a cat room full of things they love. I have never had any of my cars attack me all love and I did what you said and they are amazing. Thank Mr Jackson 😺🐈💞😺

Here's maybe a tip for someone who has a cat like mine that actually really hated traveling in the car. I started taking a music CD I play at home and played that CD in the car when we went to the vet. She calmed down immediately.

I'm a truck driver, my little munchkin kitty nightshade loves riding in the 18 wheeler with me. She was a rescue at 6 weeks old. And I acclimated her to it when she was young. She doesn't mind riding because she isn't crated, she just lounges on the floor, or the seat. If in the rig on the bed😂😂

#4: DO NOT rearrange furniture! hahaha My cats have been TRAUMATIZED for weeks because the sofa is in the wrong place! haha

My cat is so fascinated with the litter box cleaning process. She insists on watching me clean it every day, and will sit through the whole monthly deep cleaning process. It makes me laugh

As a kid, we had a dog and cat that loved each other. The cat trusted my dog so much, he helped her give birth to her litter of kittens. Licking and cleaning them when they came out and would guard the kittens when she wanted a break...I remember he used to gently pick up the kittens and return them to the mother cat when she wanted them.

With my kids, I always use "would you like it if someone did that to you?" So, "would you like it if you were on your way to the bathroom and someone picked you up and carried you to the living room to hug you?" Or "would you like it if someone got right up in your face with a toy?" Chances are, if YOU wouldn't like it, your cat sure as he'll isn't going to like it! Respect is really all it boils down to. They deserve the same respect and boundaries that we expect.

Things I've learned, I share a lot of traits with cats. I, too, prefer quiet and routine. 😂

My cat loves to play “tag”… meaning she chases me across the house and then I chase her. It’s her favorite thing!

My dogs aren't even MY dogs anymore. They belong to the cats now. I'm serious. They sleep together, play together and overall just enjoy eachother's company. The dogs practically helped raise them and I love watching them grow as a pack.

Our cats love smelling everything, including things they HATE. So they'll cheerfully go investigate our coffee cups, freshly cut onions, citrus fruits etc, give it a sniff - bleh- and wander off. As if to check "do I still hate this? Yes, yes I do."

my sister adopted a cat a few weeks ago. cat had a weird habit of tucking himself in her clothes. caught him tangled up in a shirt and walking around. i ordered a cape made for cats for like halloween or something for him just cause i thought it would be cute- this cat won't let her take it off. he runs away and hides if she tugs the cape up over his head. mom thought he would like to wear a sweater cause he loves the cape- nope! did not have fun! glaring around the room, wouldn't move, tail doing that over stimulated twitching. tldr: some cats like clothes, some hate it, some are dramatic and only like capes.

You have really opened my eyes to what I need to work on with making my cats more comfortable and happy. I thought they were being "really bad" and now realize that I am the one who needs to work on my care for them and what they want and need.

My daughter stayed with me for several months, with her dog. My cat (hers too really, but he remained with me) was very old and kinda in his last legs. He (little guy) actually sought solace in my daughter's dog. The dog (Elvis) comforted the cat and they had literally just met 😩😭

When my kitten Indigo ("Indy") had her ovaries removed, the vet put her in a post-op romper so she wouldn't lick the wound and accidentally undo the stitches. Indy was miserable. She withdrew into a corner and didn't move all day. By nightfall i sent a picture of Indy, who had retreated into her carrier (looking miserable) to the vet, and the vet felt so bad for her that she told me to take the romper off immediately. The moment Indy was rid of her clothing, she starting jumping around and was her old self again. Some cats REALLY hate clothes.

Love you Jackson. Thanks for educating people about cats. Many folks take them in before they understand them and know how to care for them. I had a friend who thought you could pet and rough them up like dogs and pick them up whenever you wanted to satisfy their own need to cuddle. Needless to say, my cat didn't like him. I started to correct him and protect my cat from him, giving him instructions when he was inappropriate.

My cat Theo loved to ride in the car. I'd say, "Theo, get in the car." He'd jump right in and sit in the back seat looking out the window. I'd be stopped at a red light and people would stare and smile, some would wave, surprised to see him. He was a stray that showed up one day and I'm a true believer that a cat picks you, not the other way around. Those are the great ones.

If you can afford an automated litter box, they are a Godsend! I am disabled and bending is hard. I have a Litter Robot. Both my 20 year old cat and foster momma cats use it. I have to change the litter bag twice weekly with two cats. And I clean it between fosters. So much easier. I usually get just the orphan kittens but sometimes foster a pregnant cat.

While im sure my cat preferred a regularly cleaned litterbox, one of his most endearing quirks was every time I cleaned it, within 10 minutes he would go back in it and just squeeze out with little bit of pee he had to offer so that while he wanted his litter box clean he still wanted some piece of his business in it at all times. Even though he was the only cat in the house with no competition around

My really old small dog was raised with cats that were particularly mean to him. Now years later I adopt a kitten that was in horrible shape and rehabbed in a home with small dogs that played and cuddled with them. In all irony the dog is afraid of the kitten but the kitten is gently winning him over by coming up to sniff him, rub on him, and sleep next to him. It feels like a great example of a dog that respects the cat's space being the perfect companion for this kitten... and the kitten is helping the old dog feel less alone and sleep better.

“Cats want to be in control” Years ago I travelled overseas with my cats. First day gave them the sedative the vet recommended. They hated it and were extremely stressed and upset - “what’s wrong with my body?”. Then paperwork was wrong and we couldn’t fly. The day after we did fly with no sedative, and it wasn’t pleasant, but they we much calmer and composed. Btw, they never did like dogs.

As an Asperger, the chaos one really gets to me. I have two cats, and I just had someone over to redo my flooring. One day of loud saws and hammering, my cats and I was equally stressed, hiding in my study. We are all fine now tho, and the flooring came out really nice :)

Thank you for addressing scented cat litter!! 🙏🏻 It makes no sense to add scent to ANYTHING for a cat! I have special heated cat beds that have a weight sensor and regulated temp. I have a rescued lynx point siamese that loves dogs and will even follow strange dogs.

I love to listen to loud metal music. At first I quit listening to after I adopted my cat. Eventually I started listening at a lower volume than usual and gradually made it louder and louder. She doesn't mind it all and actually sits somewhat close to the source. I'm very surprised because I really thought she would be freaked out. Thanks for the videos. I'm learning.

My daughter’s cat went ‘catatonic’ and dropped over sideways on the floor when she put a costume on him. She tried picking him up but he stayed stiff with legs straight out. She took it off, he stretched, walked away & literally ignored (usually very affectionate) her for hours!

My husband passed 4 years ago and i was so depressed so my daughter suggested getting a pet. Well i live in an appt but was allowed a cat. I’ve had Luna now almost a year and she’s brought me so much joy and laughter. Her n i are buddies

Our cat acts like our three dogs. He has made himself a part of the pack (three rescues with their own individual problems) and wore them down, a Greyhound, German Shepherd and a podenco. We were so nervous introducing them but before we knew it it just worked and they were all huddled together. When its feeding time he is right there, time to go out for wees and poos for the night, there he goes with them. The dogs are the ones the walk away from him, like ugh the little one is here again! He even comes on walks with us, it is very cute but it scares us if he thinks all dogs are like that.

My cat loves the car. He's 23 and goes everywhere with us. For long journeys we drop the back seats, put his bed in the back, food and water, and his tray. It's like turning the car into a cat motorhome. He especially likes watching the world go by out of the window and coming to the divider to tell us when he's done a poo and would like his tray emptied. He also likes new destinations which some people say is odd for a cat. If we go on holiday we take all of his stuff with us (he's indoorsy now cos of his age and complete deafness) and we always choose places to rent that will allow him to stay. Then when we get there we set him up like at home, with his usual toys and blankets so everything smells familiar, and he just wanders around scent marking things with his face and then finds himself a spot to sleep or request a belly rub.

Jackson is a straight up typical dad.... Dad jokes as well as laughing at his own dad jokes... And that's really why I'm here... Oh and for the cats of course! ahaha!

Everyday and I do it 2Xs a day. He's pretty spoiled yet he litterbox trained first day💜 he came from the outside world. Just think cat. And I've been a dog person for decades. Cats are insane smart. People underestimate that I think. I'm still learning yet it's best for him and his quality of life is vital

Great interesting video! I’ve had plenty of cats in my life and every single one was terrified of the bathroom. Literally - NEVER GOING IN THAT ROOM! After a cat break, I’ve just adopted a new young cat and he hangs out in the bathroom and even tries to get into the shower with me and loves the water. I’ll never understand cats, they’re all individually a bit crazy😂

RE Chapter 4: I think people forget what stuff like that (Leaving for a couple days) might look like to their fur babies. To them, you just suddenly stopped coming home. They don't know why, they don't know where you went or that you're coming back. For all they know, you just vanished. That's enough to shake any dependent being up, really.

My old cat absolutley HATED rain, but loved sitting in his water bowl... he was a weird one (Also LOVED my 3 year old sister, she could do ANYTHING to him and he just purred and rub his head over her, but HATED every other human being)

Also, our clever kitty has found a quick way of curing her family of ignoring her. Whenever she is not paid enough attention to, she finds some cord to bite/gnaw on, and that quickly brings her into everyone's focus. She does not do it when no one is around though. somehow she must have learned that we are very much fond of our cords and cables 😮

My cat used to hate when I put on hand lotion because it had a loud smell. I specifically started buying unscented so she wouldn’t make the stinky face when I put my lotion on. The loud smells thing is soooo true.

Jackson, in 2010 my wife and I moved from Southern California to Alexandria, Virginia. The wife and I agreed we would not ship the cats across country in an airliner (after having lost two-cats on an airliner). Instead, we decided to drive across country in a motor home and carry our four-cats (Chip, Dale, Irving and Shy) with us. As we approached Oklahoma city the weather changed to sleet and freezing rain. Our male Burmese Dale, loved to sit on the driver's lap and place his paws on the wheel as if he were driving. Well, an Oklahoma State Trooper pulled us over. She knocked on the door of our motor home, and my wife let her in. Well sir, she saw Dale sitting on my lap, with his paws on the wheel and said "Oh thank God, it's real!" Then she sat down and said "because of the flu, I'm midway through my second consecutive shift, when I look to the right and see a cat driving a motor home". She smiled and asked us to please pull the courtesy curtains behind the driver's door window. Then we shot multiple pictures of the Trooper behind the wheel of our motor home with Chip, Dale, Irving and Shy taking turns sitting on her lap; paws on the steering wheel. No cats do not hate motor vehicles, so long as you let them drive.

When I got rid of my old couch, the new one was delayed so I didn't get it until the next day. This pissed my cat off because she decided that couch was where she wanted to lie. So she lay on the floor where the couch had been and turned her back to me (something she never did) and pouted. No, cats don't like change and disorder.

Yes!!!! Keep that litter box clean. I have 4 cats and have never had problems with them not using the litter box. It is fragrant free and I do have 5 boxes. ❤❤❤

I’ve noticed that pugs do very well with cats. My husband and I have rescued kittens and cats and also have four cats of our own. Overall, it’s been a positive experience. Our eldest pug has even helped socialize and raise some of the kittens we’ve rescued. But then again, pugs within themselves are a unique breed and don’t tend to be as hyper.

I lost my baby, Frank under 3 months ago, and I miss him terribly. I miss all of his little, funny routines, his different meows, waiting for me at the top of the stairs when I come home, his intelligence, his sweetness, his ability to communicate with me, his inquisitive chartreuse eyes, his love, his patting me on the cheek in the morning, and his soft, warm fur when he would curl up against me as I fell asleep. Miss you little man, until we meet again, rest in peace.. ❤️

My cat, Callie, adopted us. I used to breed Chihuahua's at the time. She would come on our porch and we would feed her, tried to get her inside, (was early start of Winter), and she would not, however, I guess she watched our puppies/dogs so much so that I saw her walking down my hallway...she learned the doggie door. (Before that we built her an insulated, soft 'hut' on our front porch). Took her to the vet for everything...found out that she was already fixed, (noticed her one ear was clipped) got her shots, etc. updated. Now...she HATES boxes. I just laid different size boxes down in random spots...nope. Bought her a doggie bed and put it beside my dog's doggie bed and she loves it! BTW...by this time...she and my Chihuahua's were great together...they never growled or chased her (training) and she has never, ever hissed, growled, scratched on purpose (her nails come out because she stretches out her little paws so it is not aggressive at all) and at this point I only had 1 dog left. Bought her a thing a ma jig where there are 3 levels and little boxes with holes and put it by the window...she sniffed it and never liked it....and I tried placing it in different places all over the house. (I think she is a bush dweller). We had to go out of state for 3 days...she was fine when we returned...nothing out of place, no destructions or chaos. My cat has an enclosed area where she can go outside. She barely does. She lays by the air conditioner vent all day or on the hard-wood floors in the hallway. She loves for you to rub and rub and rub her...but...I cannot pick her up fully into my arms. I can pick her up as long as her back paws stay on the floor and I can kiss and love her for a few seconds or more...but picking up, she will rebel. She does not like any seafood...at all...none...I have tried everything...but...that does not bother me. Just odd. I call my old dog to go night-night and she comes too...which I love, but now she wants to swat his head...lol! I tell her no scratch and she folds those little paws under her. BTW...everything she brings through that doggie door is alive and well. Mice, birds, tiny lizards, even a butterfly. She is very gentle. (Although a nightmare for me and my husband trying to rescue and release this little things) This was before I got the money to get things enclosed so she could still be outside. All this to ask...(lol)...how can I get her to let me pick her up? Love your informative shows and God bless for the work do!

My cat has successfully conditioned my husband to give her treats when she wants them. I see her clever little ways she manipulates him. My smart little girl. Poor hubby has no idea what’s going on.

The craziest relationship I’ve ever seen: my mamaw had a husky and a calico kitten. The husky, of course, was an absolute crack head, but the cat was all about it. She always slept on the dog’s head and they chased each other all day long. They never went anywhere without the other.

My Eddy is jealous of the attention I pay to my prized jade plant. Eddy glares at it when I water it and then when he thinks I cannot see him he smacks the plant. It cracks me up!

You are so correct. My cat, Skittles, shot like a bullet kit of the house one day when i was trying to get him accustomed to a collar and/or halter. I was moving over 2k miles away and wanted to be able to let him walk while on transit. He did not show back up at my house for 3 days with the halter and leash. He was very hungry. I should have got him used to those things when he was a kitten. He survived the move. It was a 4 day road trip. I make sure his litterbox is cleaned everyday. I do not buy scented litter, or that is not dust free. I sure appreciate your intellect on cats and human cohabitation.

I can still remember my dearly departed cat of 20-years going out of his way when I left for 2-days. I had set him up with food galore and bowls of water, kept the TV on so there was some company. When I got back, he seemed all right, and then I noticed it. I had CLOSED the door to the litter box when I left two days ago! Hey! It's on me, and wherever he went, it was entirely on me. Nothing, I couldn't find anything. No pee, no poop...nothing to be seen. A few days later, I figured it out, he had been using the corn plant and the soil around it. It was the largest plant in the apartment and had a large ring of soil around the plant. He got even more, treats and loving after that! :)

Ive been binging your videos, i lost my kitty after q8 years and learned now I did a lot of things wrong but also she was a happy confident cat. Its been over a year now and i decided to pick up a rescue. With all I learned in the past days plus my experience i am gonna make her life so good. Thank you

Alastair has very specific touch and don't touch times and locations. When I get home from work, he lays on the rug and wants belly rubs and to be tussled around. But when hes in his cat tree, thats a big no touchy.

My cat, Audrey, loves sleeping under the Christmas tree. She never messes with the tree, just enjoys the lights and the tree.

I'm totally guilty of putting my cat in costumes... Simon basically has his own closet. He's very expressive and has no qualms telling me when he doesn't like something, and he honestly doesn't seem phased in the least by wearing outfits (he actually brings me his vest sometimes and waits until I put it on him). Only thing he made clear he didn't like was a little lion mane hat I got for Halloween. I put it on him... he took it off. The hint was received, and the mane got pulled from rotation lol.

Our cat is VERY regimented on her schedule and hates if we deviate from the routine. LOVE the “cat eye” ring very cool!

Lots of long-haul truckers get kittens to ride along for company. Once they adjust to the noises and flying scenery, the cats often love it, too.

Whenever I'm chopping onions (cooking in general, but it's funniest when it's stuff like onions), our cat sits on a bar stool and watches everything I do, even though his eyes are watering and you can see that he hates it, but REFUSES to leave

I took our 15 yr old for a 'ride', no carrier, just a trip around the block, he sat on the seat & looked around, & seemed to enjoy it.

Our kittens (mostly 2 out of 3) LOVE the snow! They're only 4 months old and a few days ago we had two snows, and our kitties get excited about it and go out there and run all around our tiny yard and play in, lay down on/in it, and try to eat it! It's the cutest thing!! They also love to drink the water we leave outside for them, even when it's slush! We've never had pets before and there are 3rd generation barn cats. They've been so much fun! (and a handful).

This guy talks a lot of sense - He obviously understands cats and loves them.

Being a Chef, I've learned that every cat ive had, get so curious when I'm cooking. So, I slowly trained them to have a spot where when I'm cooking. I lift herbs or sauces... just near them, and sometimes they give a face like... ohhh bring it closer or no thank you. I find this keeps them away from cutting boards, or them running off with a food just to leave it some place randomly half finished. I also find it helps my cats food gorging. So, it gives them attention and a way to enjoy the smells without it slamming them all the time.

I always doubted if cats really hate a dirty litterbox that much as is suggested. I have a litterbox filled with potting soil on my balcony and a litter box filled with clumping litter in the house. The one inside is cleaned everyday, both urine and poop are removed. But he prefers the one outside, and sometimes I don't clean that one for several weeks. That has several reasons, one is because soil has excellent odour neutralising capabilities and the poop and the soil are sort of blending visually so you just don't realize it's been used pretty heavily. And my cat always prefers it over the clean one, even after several weeks of use. I noticed earlier in the communal garden that all the cats from the neighborhood were using the little sandy area underneath the play house (the area has the size of a large litterbox) as their toilet. No one felt responsible to ever clean it, but they kept doing their business there in that tiny spot, no matter how dirty. Also as a cat sitter I've seen many occasions where the cat did their business outside of clean litterboxes, and vice versa mostly did not exhibit changed behaviour when confronted with dirty litterboxes. I'd say in general the location, kind of litter and size or form of the litterbox is far more important to them than how clean it is. I think this idea of cats hating a dirty litterbox is heavily influenced by our notion of excrements as 'dirty', and (therefore) assuming that this is the problem when in fact it is another aspect of the litterbox situation that they hate. Animals do not have the same aversion towards excrements as we do, for them it is more neutral; a source of information and a way of sending messages to other cats if there are any. I'm sure there are plenty of cats that do actually hate a dirty litterbox, but in my experience it is really not all that common.

I love how my cat "helps me wrap gifts" and sits right in the middle of the unrolled wrapping paper. It's hilarious.

Ugh, about the routine thing- I genuinely HATE when people are like, "it's a cat, they'll be fine, they don't even care, blah blah"...about going away on vacation, about playing with them, about affection or environment or a million other thing people would consider terribly cruel if it was said about a dog. I was never even a "cat person", but even so I really feel for the little guys. They've gotten the shift in a million ways for generations just because people don't care to know better. It's a good thing we have people like Jackson to spread information that improves lives. I mean, this is a living creature, not a stuffed animal- You can't just buy it, only pay the slightest attention to it and simply assume it will be happy locked up alone in your house otherwise.... but I feel like a lot of people do exactly that with cats.

I have a kitten who is 4 months old and I didn’t want to leave her home alone so I brought her to NC. It was a 9 hour drive. I brought a litter box and gave her a break, she did very well. ❤

My cats are outdoor cats(I know) but they get up every day at 5am come back in by 8am, go to sleep until I get home at around 5pm, they go out a bit, then have dinner. After dinner they go back out and I call them in for about 10pm. They always come home and sleep! Its all so very routine. Also they do go out all winter but only for short periods. My patio door is always open when they are outside. We are in Canada. Also I had a cat that loved olives, he would roll around on the floor going crazy for olives!❤

My friend's cat has been with him for many years now. He recently adopted a dog. The cat hates the barking and now the dog won't bark at all at home. He goes crazy barking when he's out for walks and away from the cat.

This video just confirms why I've always just clicked with cats as an autistic person 😂. We're running on the same programming. Loud sounds, smells, change in environment/routine, dirty hygiene areas, temperature sensory issues and introversion from loud people who make uncomfortable 😂

I can relate to your point about cats hating loud noise. I play the trombone, and when my cat sees me take the horn out of its case, he leaves the room and hides upstairs. He gets really upset when my quintet shows up to rehearse. Once everybody leaves, the cat comes downstairs. He's my worst critic, but I love him.

We live in southern AZ and it gets bloody HOT here. (118-121 summers) I have thermal floor to ceiling drapes covering the big wall of windows in the bedroom. Her favorite place - lying BEHIND the drapes in the sun/heat of the windows. So now I know why. She doesn't WANT to be in 73°

my cat hates smoke alarms (but really, who doesn't?) but for some reason she loves fireworks. she'll sit in the window and watch them for ages once she hears one go off. i love my little weirdo. :')

I had a cat for many years who I'd been acclimating to travel from a young age. I traveled all over the country by car with her. I ran an office where I would take her to work every day. It reached a point where she would run and jump into the car. On long trips, she would climb up and drape herself around my neck to sleep. Other drivers seemed to find it charming when they glanced over.

My hubby scoops litter box TWICE a day. First thing in the morning and just before bed. Our kitty LOVES using the box right after he cleans it. This way she sleeps almost all night.

My cat always sits by me when I play the guitar. Doesn't matter how loud, she is my biggest fan. I tell my wife she is my groupie.
