I accidentally started a routine with my next door neighbour cats (who I'm great friends with). Working from home, I would go out in the garden in the evening to stretch my legs and water the plants. I soon found my cat friends waiting for me because they knew they would get a good fuss and play from me (and maybe a Dreamy or two). It's so lovely to go to the backdoor and see a little face peering through asking if I'm coming outside. 😁
The part about love made me cry. My 19 year old cat Luna had a severe seizure last year. On the last day of his life, he couldn't move much... but he still tried his best to purr when I touched him. He was so loving and generous, even from his deathbed.
I'm so sorry about your Luna. It's a heartache. I had to have my boy Aleks put to sleep at 22, he was in good nick till his last couple of weeks. When the vet was shaving his little leg for the needle, Aleks began to purr I asked the vet why would he do that and she said it's a way of comforting himself. Well that just broke the last piece of my heart. ᓚᘏᗢ
Yes our lovely visiting adopted ginger cat unoriginally named Ginge was taken to the vet with a week to live. He climbed onto the basket just to get interacting with the vet's assistant. It really surprised her. He was dying but still loved people.
I myself am on the Autism Spectrum, and hearing all the things that cats love and hate makes it very easy for me to understand their habits and instincts. It seems like most cats are basically small people with autism, lol. They are overly sensitive to noises and smells, they have routine, they prefer to have things a certain way, they dislike change, they only like to be touched in certain ways. I relate to pretty much all of these traits, and learning more about cats makes me want more and more to have one.
Oh my goodness. ! I am not autistic but you just described me to a T. I am 78 years young and have always been what some say "persnickity". I don't like change, I want thi gs a certain way, etc. So thank you, my other life I may have been a cat lol
A story of cat love: When I first met Drogo, my bf’s cat, I was pretty scared of him. He would attack legs and bite if you tried to touch him. So I observed him and realised he was just a frustrated adolescent. I suggested some changes like him having a home base, removing the liner from the litter tray and I started asking him for permission before touching him: I’d offer my hand and if he ignored it I would leave him alone, but if he booped it I would give him cheek rubs. One day he jumped on me for cuddles. That’s when I asked my bf if Drogo could come live with me. I set him up with routines of wet food feeding and hunt-kill-eat every evening. He has two giant high walled liner free litter trays to himself, and a super sturdy cat tree for this little savage. I give him love and respect and now he is the cuddliest, neediest, most wonderful, happy cat ever. All thanks to the incredible advice from the ultimate cat daddy Jackson Galaxy.
@@verreal thank you for reading my story! My bf lives on the outskirts of the city while I live 20 miles away in a tiny village so we both agreed it was a better place for an outdoor cat like Drogo. I checked with him and his son about a dozen times before and after the move and they remain adamant they don’t want Drogo back! 😂 He is a wonderful cat but does require a lot of attention and consistency. My super scheduled lifestyle just suits Drogo best. They sometimes come up and visit Drogo (and me), and Drogo, a very vocal tuxedo boy, fills them in on all his adventures up here.
A cat will if it feels a threat and look towards its owner for a gesture that its ok for another person to touch them..and the cat will respect this from thier owner. If you put your hand close to their face and agression is started..you will notice they will look to their owner very fast..they are looking for a gesture from them to let them know its ok.
My girlfriend and I had 3 female cats that gave birth at the same approximate time. The young cat had 2 stillborn kittens, the tortoise shell cat had 2 kittens, and the buff colored cat had 4 kittens. All 3 mother cats nursed all 6 of the kittens. Sometimes the mother cats would get jealous of each other and there'd be a 3 way momma cat fight.!! Crazy times at my house. Two were given to us and were already pregnant and the third cat was a very young stray that we took inside. We also had a stray male cat that adored kittens and absolutely loved to get belly rubs just like a dog!! My girlfriend is the crazy cat lady of the neighborhood, we have 12 of them.
@@gregGould yep I'm crazy cat mum. My children are grown so now I get to look after feline cats instead. Cats know precisely that live goes in a circle from me to you and from you to me and round and round, unconditionally. They are the best pets imo. It is crazy to me that some people think they're unloving and disloyal etc. Those people have never lived with a cat I would think.
I took in a week old kitten that we found in a muddy ditch after a storm. My dog took over potting her and cleaning her. She just adores her! My cats wouldn't touch her until she was about 4 weeks old. So, perhaps not just cats. :) just lovely!
Happened to me. Momma cat and her first daughter gave birth 2 days from each other under my bed. After a couple of days, the daughter never came back and Momma took over all the kittens. She was a great mother.
Thank you for emphasizing that every cat is different. I think there's a general ignorance about cats, and I appreciate that you spend your life educating folks.
Yes, I'll give you an example, when my cat was a small kitten, for some reason when I ran the water in the sink upstairs in the bathroom, he would climb inside and let the water run over him, while he curled up like a little kitten foetus. He grew out of it as he got older. It was like he was reliving a memory of being in the womb. I would definitely call that an individual behaviour lol. He loved me too, but hey. 😎✌🐱
@@liliaaaaaaaa Yep! Love it 🥰 My two are typical kittens, they want nothing to do with a bath but we've tricked them in to drinking water from a fountain 😸
Yes thank you many people hate cats mostly out of ignorance based on bad things cat haters say and no true info about each has its own personality and very different which I love. They are brilliant and beautiful creatures GOD made for our enjoyment and companionship! Not to kill, torture and destroy as some people do!!! I hate that! Love my 5 🐈 🐈🐈🐈🐈
I’ll have you know my cat watched this entire video with me and appeared to be quite engaged. She especially liked the scene with the mouse in the low light conditions.
Hi Jackson, one thing that I think cats love that you have left off is.....being talked to! You are right that not all cats love to be petted, (and I think most actually dislike being picked up), but all my cats love it when I talk to them. Sometimes it is enough to get them purring! They know when you love them and they love to hear it in your voice and to be the focus of your attention I've only just discovered your videos and I love them! I love your approach and advice.
Agree. And they also understand what I say. If it’s something important, like taking their medicine, or absolutely NOT play biting me, they definitely understand that too!
My cat actually really likes being picked up sometimes. A few days ago he kept meowing and when i went to pet him, he stopped for a while but then kept going lol. I picked him up and he got comfortable and closed his eyes and started purring 🥺 It was so precious. I also pick him up to go outside and get some fresh air. I think he loves it but not sure haha
Lost my sweet girl of 11 years on September 2nd. The last part made me cry. I love her and miss her so much and its comforting to know she loved me too.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Her paw prints are forever on your heart and although she isn’t with you physically she will live on in your heart and memories until you meet again on the other side of the rainbow bridge.
I get so giddy when I slow blink at Kiki, and she slow blinks back! It makes me so happy to know she is happy considering what she went through with her past owners. As well as her well being. 🥰🥰
Isn’t that a heart warmer?? I love doing that with my cat when he’s curled up next to me on my bed. - This is a wonderful stress reliever for humans too!
When I adopted my cat they told me he hid for 6 months from his previous owners. I knew something was wrong when we got him home. Turned out he had stomatitis and the plaque on his teeth were literally attacking him. He got his teeth removed (obviously per vet orders) and is now the happiest lil cuddle boi❤ it turned his life around just bc someone listened when he was in pain.
Heyyyy, so I just adopted my 6 month old cat and they told me one of her teeth are rotten. When her teeth fall out and grown back hopefully she doesn’t have that same infection but if she does they told me that she’d have to have her teeth pulled. Will that affect her eating? Should I worry?
@@beautifulbrowngirl7982 no I read many cats can still eat their dry hard food as well as their wet soft canned food. They are much happier when the pain in their mouth is gone. Good luck to you and your kitty 💕😻
We just adopted our first kitties. I’m tearing up about how you said they love us. Our guys were feral and are requiring some extra work. I’m encouraged that it will pay off. Thanks for all your great content!
I just got a feral cat and yes it takes time. He’s the sweetest boy but he’s so aware and nervous about being in a home and especially with 3 other cats. I’m so happy when he comes when I call. He jumps up and lets me pet him and he rubs all over me and is starting to purr 🥰 it is so worth it. Trust me.
Did you know that recent studies have shown that some big cats, like Cougars, are also communal eaters? They share food with each other more than previously thought, it’s pretty neat.
I’ve been introducing a new cat to my resident cat for about two weeks now using Jackson’s method and today they both lounged in the sun together for the first time. And my old cat spent about an hour curiously observing the new one while I was playing with him. I think given more time and positive interaction they’ll become great buddies.
I got a 2nd cat because of Jackson and also followed his introduction methods. Mine were grooming eachother within a week. It’s now been 6 months and they even use the litter box together 💕
@@mandypdx that's amazing! My older cat is a bit more reserved. I think it will take him some more time to get used to this. Which is funny because he's so confident with new places. Didn't even hide away when we moved. But the new cat freaked him out at first.
that's great after just two weeks. always important not to get your hopes too high (they might not ever want to cuddle, for instance) but that sounds really promising.
Lately I was observing semi-wild cats at my uncle's farm and I was surprised to see female cats feeding and grooming each others kittens. The cutest thing ever.
My cat had her babies and 2 days later went outside and never came home. My nephew's cat had jittens 3 weeks prior and she accepted all 4 of my babies and helped nurse them. That was the best option for the babies over bottle feeding. I feel that should be the last resort. I was so grateful for my nephew's cat doing that. She was a champ.
I am brand new Cat-Dad! Just adopted 2 baby kittens from a local shelter. I am already feeling the love. My s/o, and I adore these little ladies. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. We have been watching your vids for a couple weeks prior to adoption, and they have been super helpful. We are feeling confident, and are building a fun healthy relationship with our kittens. We love watching them build their "Cat-Mojo", and are thrilled to see them developing personality, and confidence. Best decision my partner, and I ever made ( besides getting married
I feed my cat at 5pm. She shows up between 4:30-5:00 and sits next to me, until I acknowledge her. Sometimes I have to tell her “just a few more minutes.” This seems to satisfy her. At least she knows I’m aware of the time coming up.
I get paw patting reminders while he waits for num nums. We have 1 hour cuddle time b4 dinner. I am disabled with bone on bone shoulder arthritis. They understand outchie arms, outchie legs , outchie hot etc...
Just to say, I'm about to adopt a cat (she's only 4 weeks now), and I've watched all your videos like a TedTalk. It's been super helpful and taught me things I had no idea about! Thank you!
@@aruhikkittens should stay with their mum like three months, so no. That's too young and chances are you're going to get a cat with behavioural issues.
@@aruhik its best if kittens can self wean from their mothers between 10 to 12 weeks. They will have a much better developed digestive and immune system and will be better able to adapt to their new environment with you.
I love how Jackson educated people about cats and how to care for them. I wish I learned some of these things sooner so that I could have provided a better life for the kitties I had before. We love you, Jackson!
@@tee3219 Yes, that's true. I'm currently the guardian of an 11 year old torture, and she's wonderful. I'd love to foster, but my husband won't go for it. I think he'll come around sooner or later.
Jackson is a cool cat. Appreciate the videos. My husband and I picked up a shelter cat that was going to get put down today. I don’t know how they could’ve even dreamed of it. We named her Mercy. She is the sweetest thing ever. We don’t have any children, but she has made our little family complete.
You guys are awesome for saving a cat from being put down, thanks for saving a life!! I love that!! Hope your cat is doing great & has brought you lots of joy and happiness 😊
The most fun my best friend next door kitty Abby and I have is when we play The Hittin' Game. No claws, just paws. I curl my fingers under, and she gets it. We cuff each other's hands. She loves it, and purrs while we're playing. Afterwards, she gives me head butts snd I give 'em back to her. 3 months ago, when we moved in, she hated me because she thought, nobody would ever move in to the house, and she could include it in her territory. Now she knows that it's still her territory.
I thought you told people that hands and arms aren't toys lol lol lol seeing it's the great cat daddy ever I shall forgive thee especially the amount of friendly fire you get when doing ya thing tc hun x
Had a cat 30 years ago that did this with my husband!! They’d play rough with kitty thumps! And sometimes when the cat was unhappy with me he’d just thump me with his paw! Really sweet though!
There are not enough Thank You's Jackson for what you do here or helping people in person. I chose- He chose my 1st kitten/kittens 1st human...when I was 18 from a family of lookalike Maine Coon kittens. Didnt have pets as a child as we were in the USAF and was just too difficult being abroad alot. But after I graduated @17 in 1975, my 1st of many kit babies began. His name was BabyCat, he was 24# sweet and affectionate. He left me at 24 years old and it was like losing a child for me. As I never had children but a stepmother my whole life. To this day I miss him. We went through every Journey in our lives together. I have 6 now, 5 of same family, mama, papa 3 girls torties and adoptee Mallow. Lost the twin white boys like their papa in the last year, Kimba yellow eye& blue eye and Diego. Thanks to anyone that read my ramblings. May God Bless All
I've been bingewatching Jackson's Videos again because I did not feel so alive recently but this archive of furloving expertise never fails to brighten my mood and make me smile 🤭✌🏻
My cats do love their routine. Every night they’ll go to bed with me. At 10o clock they’re sitting at the bedroom door and will stare at me: girl we gotta go to bed, you’re late. Never had so much routine and sleep since I have cats.😂
Same. My cats are great at sending my to bed and waking me up. I have one that will stare at me intensely and meow until I go to bed. They both will wake me up at the same time every day, one by walking on me and the other will gently paw at me. They don't care about weekends, it's 6am sharp for play time and breakfast. Down side, they also don't care about daylight savings. They have will none of that spring foward/fall back thing.
Today marks the first year since I have brought my white fluffball of a foster cat into my life, and joined an association that helps our furry friends to find a home. He has stubborn feline herpes, went through many ailments in a year, but I have never and never will give up on him. Turns out I've even adopted him and we were just made for each other. Thank you for helping me giving him the best life I can :)
In my entire cat petting experience, you have to know the cues they give. Some may not appreciate it as much, some will get bored easily, some gets mad if you stop. 😅
My Mrs. Fluffypants had three kittens last year and I still get to interact with two of them. One is very touchy and only like a short petting, whilst the other is mad for petting and gets annoyed if I stop. Definitely all different.
Im amzed at one i have. He doesnt like being touched but once every so often 10 days?) he’ll jump up and want cheeks and chin done only and drools but not for long at all.
I actually had to cry as you talked about how cats love their owners bc I loved my cats so unconditionally and lost 2 of my past cats in 2 very horrible ways. Once my cat was run over by a car probably bc she was black and not visible in the dark and the second time I lost my dear cat was bc someone stole it... I remembered how precious my past cats were to me and that the cat I owe right now is as precious to me as the past ones♡
Jackson I’m so glad you have a youtube channel. Its all your positive mojo and advice without the drama of TV edits. Just solid wholesome content. I literally almost cried at the end of this video. I lost my childhood doggo recently (she was 16 or 17) so being reminded how special our bonds with our animals are, and the love we share is, with all their unique ways of showing it to us and other pets beyond interspecies language barriers really touched my heart. I’ve had the honor of adopting a cat that used to be my family’s, but was always stressed out around multiple pets, as my first true “full responsibility” pet. And she and I used to vibe well when we were younger, but at 11 after living through a lot of turmoil, seeing her learning her new territory and gain confidence and be excited to jump in my lap and cuddle for hours, or ask me to play with her, after less than a week of being here, is such a huge honor to me. She is so sweet. And your video on body language really helped too, as hers is extra subtle for even a cat, and sometimes she lightly thumps the very tip of her tail as a greeting when she’s just relaxing kinda like a dog, (paired with squinty eyes and purring and asking for scritches when I offer), so being refreshed on all the other tail stuff paired with other overstimulation signs helped me be able to tell easier right away when her tail goes from the unusual dog-ish relaxed thump to the typical anxious cat flick/ swish so I can stop touching her awhile until she’s ready. We have a breakfast then cuddle routine in the works for the mornings. She’s so calming. And at night when I get home from work, we’ll play, do some clicker work if she’s up for it, (working on “here kitty” and “stay” currently, and she’s such a fast learner!) followed by pre- bedtime wind down cuddles :) I’m hoping as I do more clicker work I can get her comfy with her harness and leash. She tolerates wearing the harness currently but still hates the process of putting it on, though she’s getting more used to it. Hoping clicker will help. But she likes her leash as a toy funnily enough (the soft handle loop, I always keep the buckle out of reach for safety), and she’ll attack it like a lizard or snake XD. I have to wrestle it away from her at great peril to my fingies if she’s not done with it but I need to go to bed, because no way in hell am I leaving her alone with a choking hazard like that lol. She has other toys too so I make it up to her lol.
When you talked about smells, my first kitty, Salem, my precious girl, loved the smell of valerian root (she tore apart tea bags I made for a friend at Christmas time and was rolling in it), sage, tansy and of course catnip. I understood the love of catnip smell, but could never figure out why she loved the other three. She just about demolished my sage plants so I planted a "sage and tansy garden" for her in our human garden and she would head up there and spend hours with my late husband just laying in it. It was HER little bit of heaven and she would proudly lay in it with this "this is MY garden, keep out" look on her face, So dang adorable. P.S It wasn't till long after my precious girl's passing when I saw "The Lion Whisperer''s" many lions rolling around joyfully in "poo" that I figured out why Salem loved the smell of Valerian. It kinda smells like that. She was re-connecting with her wild roots.
I rehabilitated three of my cats from being feral. Before I knew of your channel they taught me almost all the things you say in your videos. I was invested in them and their well-being. It took trial and error and me making mistakes. But from observing and listening to them I have been able to give them a happy life. Its amazing how individual cats are. All three of my cats are so different and enjoy different things. Two of my cats liked the touch on their face and one or two body pets and then leave them alone. One of my cat loved being pet and held and snuggled. One of my cat it took him 4 years of the 9 years we had him to finally become confident. When you earn your cats trust and you see that they know and trust you. Its the most beautiful thing.
My late kitty, Koz, would punish me if I went away. When I got back, she'd walk up to me, turn her back, sit down, and then look over her shoulder occasionally to make sure I knew that she was ignoring me. ;) 6ish hours of that, then she'd come and lie near me.
All cats love....FOOD!! You're so right about how the "pounce" is the smallest part of the hunt. My cat will see prey, slowly and silently get into position and wait - in position, eyes on the prize - for as long as it takes! The patience is real🐱
I don't even own a cat, but I love your channel and your show (but who doesn't?) and its so refreshing to see someone so passionate about love for cats. I love seeing you actively breaking stigma and misinformation on one of our most common household pets, there's so many things I never knew about cats before seeing your content and show. One day I plan to get a cat of my own, and I feel like I'm more prepared than ever, just because I'm already being taught what NOT to do with cats. Bless you, Mr. Galaxy!

Thanks for writing this, I have a 3 day weekend and when I got to the sleep part felt my person nap MOJO was something to do now. I have 3 kittens. This man was recommended on Pococha. I often include my kittens and am "nice" but have been learning how to be nicer. I'm sensitive to things I have learned destroy water structure, ie foul language before I thought all was just a part of free range of emotion so when he videos without foul language my sensitive human ears like that.
I try to treat cats the way I'd want to be treated, especially touch. Imagine you enjoy having your hair brushed. Feels good for a while, but you eventually become numb to it. If it continues for long enough, it can get annoying or irritating. I cut way back on petting, mostly restricting it to the head. The cat will let me know if it wants more. Pay attention to body language. Learned this from Mr. Galaxy. Has improved relations with cats.
Yeah, my oldest will come up for a head rub. If I take my hand away after scratching him, he will go back to that hand and push his head back in saying "Hey, I'm not done with you scratching my head yet". LOL
Spot on!! My cat loves touch, but petting usually over stimulates her. She's my weirdo and likes goofy things, but she definitely loves everything listed!! Thanks for helping me understand my baby better! Jackson rocks!!
How I know my cats love me: When they come back inside after an outing, they seek me out. One of them even meows as if wanting to tell me about his outing. Sometimes he's very vocal and needy (wanting rubs and such) and I assume he had quite an exciting trip and other times he's more quiet, indicting a boring outing. And of course when I come home, I get greeted.
Mine do the same. I think they call to locate me because I call to them to let them know where I am, and they are excited when they find me. Yeah they love me and I them. I have a feral male that keeps other cats from entering his territory [my house and yards] He is fierce. He doesn't let me pet him after 2 yrs. I have tamed many feral cats, but not him. I call him "Bob"' short for Bobcat.
RE water: The favorite thing ever of the cat I lived with in college was to watch me put my contacts in every morning. When I pulled the plug so the water can drain he would wait until it was almost gone and then leap into the sink to try to catch it before it all disappeared down that magic hole. 😂
Wonder what happened to the one person that disliked this video. What went wrong in their life lol. You are the man Jackson. I've learned and relearned so much watching you. Thank you for helping me be a better cat mom to my Odd Thomas.😘
There is a sub Reddit dedicated to people who hate dogs and they encourage each other to find dog posts and downvote them for some sad crazy reason, I imagine it's those sort of people who downvote videos like this.
Or maybe they have an older cat with joint pain or something? I can absolutely imagine my cat playing differently and less enthusiastically as he gets older. (Omg, he's not out of kitten phase yet, and it's VERY enthusiastic right now. I'd like to imagine it will change a little bit. He requires a lot of attention so he won't hurt himself, me, or our home. I think he'll get better at not running into things, falling off things, etc. as he gets older?)
My cat used to be an outdoor cat and now that he is inside he refuses to do any serious playing. Like he has before but very briefly and most of the time he just lays on his side and plays in a very lazy way
@@hannabusse8137 my cats enjoy playing patty cake type games. They enjoy singing simple songs like nursery rhymes. My ginger Tomcat, simba (in my profile pic) has honestly never been one for the hyper energetic playing whereas his brother socks still loves to play like a kitten at age 10. He loves the fishing pole type toys that are made from feathers resembling a bird. The "realistic" movement that the bird on the fishing line makes really stimulates his hunting instinct. He'll chase and kill it a few times and then conk out, on his back with his legs spread and stretched out fully - but his brother would never sleep like that and always sleeps in a doughnut. Sigh. I live my cats so much. 💕
@@alexandrarivera2332 playing is playing... as long as they enjoy it and I find mine go through phases. my above post says how one of my cats won't play energetic games any more. He's only 10 but his brother still plays and runs like a kitten when he feels like it. But they both definitely enjoy playing more subdued games such as patty cake games, flipping a plastic bottle lid with his paw kindnod like tiddly winks... things like that. Just try things out and they'll soon tell you if it's fun or not.
Oh, this last emotional reaction was so sweet ! Jackson is such a kind person. Who deserves to be loved. Not only by cats ... by everyone on the planet ❤
Hi Jackson, I just adopted a little black kitten who I named Luna Eclipse. I just want to say I love your channel. I have learned so much about cats that I never knew. Thank you so much and keep up the good work 👍
The solitary hunter part reminded me of a video I would love to see: "(Exactly) How to Play with Your Cat." My cat will attack the toy when I first present it, THEN lie and watch, alternating with ignoring me, as I run through the apartment dragging the wand bug toy around corners, or flying the wand feather toy through the air, over her head, and landing on various catified surfaces. I get worn out and/or bored before she even gets to her feet again. I assume I am not “being” the prey accurately, but what am I doing wrong? She seems to lose interest within 5 minutes. Update: I apologize, Jackson. I just found your video about playing with your cat, so thank you! I gotta go play, now!
My cat does this to such an annoying amount. I get so bored playing with him, because his periods of just stalking and watching are way longer than any other cats I've had. Even with my moms two cats, playing always works well and my methods were engaging to them. Meanwhile with my boy i have to use the toy to act like a pray for 10 minutes while he just watches and stalks for one mediocre pounce and then its another 10 minutes of just stalking. I adapted my methods to suit him better but it barely changed anything. And it's especially hard to play with both my cats at once, because the other cat will always go for the toy way before he is ready, so that I have to seperate them just so he can get play time too. He's still engaged and watching, but it gets so exhausting to try and play with him when nothing happens for long periods of times. I found he's really social and likes playfighting much more than playing with toys, but playing with him using my hands is really not ideal and my other cat prefers toys. Sometimes we also play chase or hide and seek together, which he also prefers. He's for sure a special one.
My cats have such different, cool personalities. I treat them with respect, and they show me a lot of attention and love. Come home to two cats running to the door with their tails in hook shapes, meowing their little heads off, flopping belly up to the floor. It's really a pleasure. I love watching these videos so I can know to make my cats happier.
Thank you Jackson! Im an old timer at this and my husband and i have 32 cats now, from young to very old, and of course they are all spayed / neutered (except two very old ones with periodontal disease and couldnt be). We just bought our Forever Home and im starting to put up the wall walkways and they adore them, just like i knew they would. Ive put carpet treads on the walls and walks and am making sisal wrapped ladders that they love. I have extended the windowsills for them and our back yard is fenced in and cat proofed so they cant get out. They basically come and go inside and out as they want because im only here to serve them lol. They are our everything and we are so blessed to be able to do this and enjoy these furry little monsters! Thank you for everything you do!
Hey Jackson, do u have moments of clarity where u think " I can't believe that I've made an entire industry out of this?" And tysm for ur vids, I love my little guy Joey soo much it actually does make me cry. Sincerely, G
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little envious of him. Had I known I could have taken my bizarre knack for bonding with cats and turned it to a career, I would have.
@@justicedruid4242 i myself am a cat wisperer. i owned one, and didnt know i had a knack for cat love, until my gf brought her animal love into my life. she brought 5 cats when we moved 8n, and since my boy artemis has died as well as her annie. both of old age, but still hurt. it was about two years ago when stray cats started to come around, as we live in a de0lorable area where people are often abandoning cats that procreate, and you know the cycle. two litter mates started to come around my woodshop, and we started to feed, love, and let them live in my workshop for warmth. one day the male limped home with a hole in his leg, and immediately we took them both in permanently, no more letting them come and go as they pleased. they both chose me, and so did two of her five after getting to know me. about six months later, another stray, pregnant started to come around. we bought her an outdoor house, and she gave birth under the neighbors house, whom we think abandoned her to begin with. after searching and unable to find acceptable homes for her kittens we took in all four. we now have ten cats, all neutered and spayed of course, and all of the kittens have chosen me, and the six of them follow me everywhere, wait for me to feed them in the morning, all waiting at 4 a.m. when I normally get up, and are always in my shop, which has since moved in to two of the rooms in my house. if they arent with me in the shop, they are taking turns on my lap. they speak to me when i talk to them, they look with devotion and love i never thought possible, and i could go on and on...needless to say my fiance who is crazy for animals, especia6 for cats, is insanely jelous of my easy connections, how they all respond to my directions, and my live, and I learned I am truly blessed with a gift of communication with the best of all the animal kingdom-the feline.
My most cherished moments are when my sweet bestie, my furry soulmate, human in cat clothes, handsomest Siamese cat curls up at night against my side and dreams and twitches and squeaks. OMG. My heart. ❤️
I love cats too. I have always loved kitties. I grew up on an Iowa family farm and was fortunate that my dad loved all animals too. And he took care of them. The livestock and the domestic. We had almost every type. He did not tolerate snakes or strays because they could carry diseases. If he found me playing with a stray cat then I was told to put the cat down and wash my hands, arms and face with soap and water. I grew up during the 50’s and 60’s and many things have changed since then. I was lucky. I developed a deep respect for all life and the proper and loving way to care for them. We are to be good stewards especially if we’re taking on the responsibilities of caring for our pets.
Started with one little girl, added a sister, big sister got killed😢😢😢, got a third lady, have fostered 5, rescued one, catsit for my neighbour aaaaall the time. My life is changed for ever. Love my babies, plus, this is the middle of the desert, never saw mice around the house again!! Thank you, Jackson. Learn a lot everytime I watch your videos. 💜😸💛😸💚😸💜😸💛😸💚😸💜😸💛
One of my cats, Cloudy, loves to watch a stream of water being poured into water bowls and loves to play with the stream by batting it with his paw, splashing it around, and even drinking from it! 😀
I frickin' *L O V E* that you used the word "crepuscular"!!! Also, my bud-who-I-love!! is so routine-driven that he will only "raow" for food once I plunge the top of the French press...and he won't eat until I take my first bite of breakfast! He is old and somewhat inclined to nap, but he loves catnip toys. Thanks, Jackson, we love you in the happy Amundson household! Felson is a very good boi and I spoil him with tenderness, nonfood indulgence, and really anything he wants within the Safety Zone.
2 of my 4 cats just love to touch me or lay by me but they don’t want to be pet. Overstimulation is not their friend at all. If I touch them too much see you later 😽 I’m glad they lay with me and love me. I have been watching you since I got my first cat and I’m grateful for what I’ve learned ❤ Thank you Jackson!!!
@@saida-b6w Lotta people say I look like Jesus. Funny thing is when I started growing my hair and beard it was durning 2020-2021 every time I went into a store the door greeters kept asking me if I had or needed a mask? I got tired of being asked that and just wanted to be left alone so I grew my hair and beard out so I’d look like some homeless man that just came down the mountains. It got to the point where people just start to avoid you when you look like that:) As for Jesus….he’s the one and only. There’s none like him. I hope you’re a follower of him…he’ll change your life.
The cats love routine is SO true. Which is why I'm sad my kitty is currently recovering from getting spayed. She always sits on the toilet lid while I'm taking a shower in the mornings, then does a big stretch and curls up on the bath mat in an effort to trip me as I'm coming out of the shower. She hasn't done it the past 2 days because of the cone and just not quite feeling like herself.
Hi Jackson, I have a 2 year old female cat registered as SYLVA Duchess of Dulwich. She looks like a snow leopard with her markings. I waited a year for her to learn how to go through the cat flap (glass with plastic) but this has made her a very gentle and loving cat. The only thing , which I don't mind, is that she will only eat fish, so my SYLVA most probably eats most days better than I do. But hey she is worth it. I have also had my back garden ring fenced all round (with wood and bamboo rollers) so I have no worries about roads, she can still touch and smell other cats that walk wound the border but can't get out. Love your advice about metal water fountains and it realy works she plays as well as drinking. Also loves a water from a tap. Love your shows. Carol Ody England
Thank you so much. Your video clips are very helpful. A couple of months ago I adopted two 7 year old cats, and I’m eager to learn all about them. I have already fallen completely in love with them.
I have always had "alley" cats until two years ago. I left my home in Monterey, CA, and flew to San Diego to pick up two Siamese kittens from a lady who was retiring from breeding (thank goodness!). Well, Prince Felix and Princess Pixie are the smartest cats I have ever known. (We also have a tuxedo cat, and two spaniel dogs. They all get along very well.) Well, my husband and I have begun to spell out words just like parents do with young children. These Siamese siblings know the names of the other pets, and we can say a name and the kittens look at the correct one named. They know Mommy, Daddy, treat, resting time, "out" meaning to the the enclosed Cat playroom, go-to-your-tower, go-to your dinnertime (feeding location) go to your "nest" (nighttime sleeping box up on a shelf) in our bedroom. AND THEY MIND US! The chaos you mention in your video of "What Cats Hate" is SO true. The male kitten howls if his daily schedule is off by two minutes. He howls at many other things, and with distinct sounds. Howl #1 "I am hungry." #2 " I want to be held." #3 "Where is my sister?" #4 "It is time to go to the patio." etc. etc. The female comes to do "head bonks" every evening. I started making up little verses, and shame on me if I don't sing them exactly right every night. We start with Pixie, Dixie, Trixie, Mixie, Fixie, then "I love Pixie and she loves me; we are happy as we can be." Plus nonsense "Coo Coo, Key Key, Chi Qui, and Cookie Pixie" Only then will she jump down and play with Felix until it is bed-time. I have not spent even one night away from them, and I have always worked from home. They run to the door with the dogs when my husband is approaching . The tuxedo cat looks up, but can't be bothered to join the others. We have a wonderful zoo, but the Siamese cats are something else.
Rescued a ginger-point Siamese about 7 years ago. Humane Society said she came from a hoarder situation. Always has this real “headache” look. She wouldn’t t let us near her. Hid inside drawers, up inside sofa lining, etc. I was considering returning her til someone said, “wrap her in a towel” to pet her. Found out she had impacted ear mite problem! Took like 5 vet trips to get it resolved. Best cat ever. Loves on all family members, dog especially.
Oh yeah, Siamese are practically a whole other kinda animal lol. We call our half-Mese rescues our “cat-dog-monkeys”. So special. And VERY social. If you only have one, they will actually try to escape and go find a companion. You literally can’t have just one.
That's amazing. An elephant researcher friend of mine has a border collie in a research genius program. She remembers 70 names of her toys. Sounds like yr cats need to join. See who is darter.. cat or dog. I'm going with cat!
I've been learning from Jackson Galaxy for as long as I can remember. My mom always watched/listened to him, and she taught me damn near everything I know about animal care and understanding, and how to learn more about it on my own. Took me way too long to find out about this channel here but I was so happy when I did. Lots of memories came back to me! Anyway, I wanted to talk about my lovely orange boy, who my mom got for me as a surprise, knowing I wanted another cat for a long time (we hadn't had any cats for years at that point). According to the shelter staff, his litter was found abandoned near the side of a road, and they were too young to be weaned and separated from their mother. As you can imagine, this led to my boy having some major issues to work through, and I think he still has some trauma to this day. Patience, understanding, and time were all he needed to begin to trust me, and eventually other people. He lives with my dad right now as I can't have pets where I live, but we have plans to move and I'm gonna have my baby boy back. I know for a fact he misses me as much as I miss him, because whenever I visit, I pick him and hold him, and he gets so emotional his nose starts to run while he purrs and snuggles into my shoulder. Every time. And he still loves to lay on my shoulder/chest and knead his paws into my hair until I fall asleep at night, just like when he was a kitten. Anyone who thinks cats don't love us have never treated a cat with respect before.
As a kid we had 3 female cats who each had 3 kittens. Each mom would take all the kittens, so we never knew which kittens came from which mom. It didn't matter, they were all loved :)
Omg,Jackson,I can't believe u were just singing that Waitresses, tune ! NOBODY ever seems to know that one ! Of course u do,cuz you rock in all ways ! Thank you for all the big big love you have for cats, encouraging people to let them be individuals, respecting their wishes.I always pray more people take it to heart.Thank You for being you !
Just as you said my cat loves me, my pippy decided to put her head on my chest! My two kitties are very unique to each other, as all of the cats I've ever had or interacted with, and they've all shown love in such unique ways. In my honest opinion, they taught me love the best and more than anyone else.
The highlight of my day is when I roll over in the morning alerting my cat that I'm now awake, before he moves up to my pillow, positioning himself between my neck and shoulder, purring away ❤️ it makes it hard for me to get out of bed, but it's the best feeling in the world.
This is my favourite episode you’ve done, it made me cry at the end 💖 I have never experienced a love like that between me and my cat Fergie. She is my best friend and always by my side. I don’t know what I would do without her especially during a pandemic omg wahhhh 😫 😭 💖🥺😻 love you too Jackson, from Australia 🇦🇺
I have leaned everything I know from you and I am so thankful to better understand my cats! I adopted a kitten 2 months ago and per your advice I got two!!! They definitely learn from eachother!! They are litter mates. I am a huge fan and my friends are tired of hearing me saying “well Jackson galaxy says…..” LOL all love!!
I've had many cats throughout my life, and I have loved them all deeply, and still do, but Omi was my soul mate. She was my girl, my everything. And when I lost her I sobbed and cried and called out to her. I was devastated. Then I lived almost a year for the first time in my life without animals, and I will never do it again. I have 3 kitties now and they are the light of my life. I will go hungry before they do. Cats are the best.
Jackson, I love the way you help us all connect with our favourite furry friends my Pepsi is around seventeen years old and he found me on a warm summers day about thirteen years ago, our then neighbour had got a rescue cat from a shelter and over time that cat decided he wanted to live with me and my partner, the neighbour moved away and left Pepsi with us, I love him dearly and would do anything for him, my Mother has just past away and my cat gives me much comfort he is definitely my best friend so keep up the good work Jackson because they really are a fascinating species, the crazy cat lady named Gail
Thank you so much for lol your advice and dedication to kitties. I emailed once with a question about my bois and the assistant’s video links solved the problem! My whole house clowder is happy and gets along and is well-adjusted because of some simple things we put around the house for them, and learning to respect their boundaries. Now we’re working on building trust with a neighborhood TNR girl Kitty to try and get her healthier :)
I feel your pain about the "Well, my cat does this" crowd. Without fail, it's people who don't understand the difference between general rules and universal rules.
Yes! And those who feel that anecdotal evidence holds water to statistical evidence. "Well my sisters friends brother did it and he is fine so your research is wrong you must be lying" Sorry I'm a researcher of the human brain kind (never the animal kind) and this drives me batty lol
Thank you Jackson for all your information about cats. It is so nice to have all this knowledge about cats. It helps to better to take care of my cat. You are the greatest! Love your videos!!❤
Hi ya Jackson. We all love you too. We've had kittens/cats my whole life and if love could keep all of them alive, they would live forever. Our four new ones, kittens all love to sit in front of the TV set and watch ballerinas and symphonies. All our kittens/cats have different personalities and are unique and like to do different things and we love them as much as they love us. I can't imagine having a house without cats....it just wouldn't be home. TY for making all these videos -we love them all.
