I can think of several stealth games where I'm escaping a pursuer and they go an illogical route to look for me, not even pretending they don't know exactly where I am. Alien Isolation was actually meant to be like that. The beginning of the game its not hard to hide but throughout the game the Alien learns and picks up on the actions you take to avoid it, checking areas more thoroughly making it more difficult.

No mention of Red Dead Redemption? "Oh look, that final flower I need for this side qu--" *is mauled by a cougar*

The alien AI uses a simple system that utilises 2 AI`s at the same time. The first AI or the 'Body'can only control the aliens body and its movements. The second AI, the 'Brain' always knows where you are but will only give hints to the body controlling AI. This usually follows the system where the brain gives the body a hint every 20 seconds or so and you can see this in-game when the alien will suddenly change direction. Hints are also given when you make a noise or when you run. After the section in the infirmary, the time between hints decreases to 10 seconds and later on to 5. To stop the alien working like a heat seeking missile, a third AI is introduced to give false hints. This is also why you can see the alien go up into the vents to look at another part of the level. Difficultly doesn't really change these values, just adds more detail to the hints making you easier to find.

The developers said the xenomorph had two programs, one that knows where you are, and gives hints to the others, and one that searches for you using said hint.

That pull at the end of the Alien section made me jump out of my chair, even though I knew it was coming... and that's why games like that in my nope list.

Oh, the Alien in Alien: Isolation absolutely cheats, at least on the hardest difficulty. I once counted, in exasperation, how many times it came back looking for me. In that large medical/operation area I was hiding in a room, of course, and I heard the alien leave. So I slowly sneak out and the alien comes back into the area, so I hide back in the room. A minute later the alien walks by, then comes back into the room. After looking around it leaves through a vent again. So I'd sneak out and once out of the room it came running back! It did this NINE TIMES IN A ROW! I'd swear It felt like I was hiding in that room for a full hour before the ridiculous game let me finally leave that room and continue on.

WWE2K17 is the worst offender of any wrestling game. My opponent is flat on the mat, no health left, bleeding like a stuck pig. If wrestling wasn't fake I would be arrested for attempted murder. I feel a rare stab of pity for the pile of raw flesh that was my opponent and pin him. The Ref? He wanders aimlessly towards us and slowly lowers himself to the mat. At this point he says One! Then the ref forgets what he was on the mat for and stares into space. Remembering that there is still a match going on he says Two! Then he thinks to himself, did I leave the stove on? No I must have turned it off before I left. Do I need to buy milk on the way home? The grocery store will probably be closed by the time I leave here. What was I doing? Oh yes I was counting. Thr!! He kicked out at two and a half!

Have you considered that just maybe the police in GTA have mini maps of their own that show where YOU are?

It's a lesser known game, but how about IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey? If you play the campaign on simulator mode, the best fighter aircraft in the game that you've spent the whole game that you've been looking forward to the whole time are almost useless. The Mk XI Spitfire has an unreliable engine that disintegrate when any part of your plane gets hit and breaks completely for no reason if you take a randomly selected amount of time too long. The legendary P-51 Mustang has an engine that runs on stupidly low power the whole mission, a poorly balanced fuel load that makes it handle like an 18 wheeler with no tires except when it doesn't - at which point it instead flips upside down or goes into a spin as soon as you so much as breathe on the stick - and the engine drops its power at a random point of its own choosing to about a third of whatever nothing it gave you in the first place. Oh, and that's not even counting how the missions in the Mustang are at least partly ground attack and in the second one you're given only enough ammo to have like two shots left over if you hit every shot, which is to all intents and purposes impossible since you're not even guaranteed a hit if you fire so close you nearly ram the target, land the rockets *on* the target, and have to fly through the flames of the explosion to pull up: and of course when you pull up with surgical precision from your 10 to 20 degree dive it flips upside down and plows the fields below with your face just for giggles. Oh, and did I mention the I-16 Type 24? It was a perfectly capable aircraft when it was built, if rather hard to fly as a very early monoplane, but what the hell does Birds of Prey think it's doing serving up one with the world's most fragile engine in the fifth mission to fight multiple squadrons of *not outdated* fighters and bombers while backed up by forty-odd other obsolete planes who love nothing more than to shoot through you, ram you, and waste fifteen minutes or so all chasing a single fighter so that they can finally hit and shoot it down at the exact moment you engage it for no discernable reason other than to keep you flying from point to point for an hour to waste your precious little fuel supply so that you lose power when the bombers arrive and crash when you try to glide the rickety twitchy rust bucket down onto whatever field you find only to have the landing gear collapse every damn time. ...*breathes slowly while lying on a psychiatrist's sofa*

Yea the police in gta5 infuriate me. Not only are they really hard to get away from unless you happen to be near a tunnel or go far off-road before being spotted prior to 3 stars, but their cars also seem to have rocket engines when chasing you and are able to ram your increasingly fast super cars with their decidedly not even sports car patrol vehicles at a speed roughly double your own. That is what gets me extremely angry at the game. I can be going around 200 mph in a Lamborghini lookalike, and the can still ram me in their Crown Victoria lookalikes. The f gta? Seriously, the f.

I've always found it odd in certain games where when enemies turn into allies, they always seem to be less powerful or more stupid. This also includes cutscene interactions. 10 minutes ago when you were trying to kill me you could take a shot to the face, now that were on the same team you die in 2 seconds.

Every multiplayer game ever made in the history of ever has been specifically and maliciously designed to put me and very SPECIFICALLY ME on a team of cross eyed brain dead drooling infants who've had both their thumbs amputated and every sane and competent player on the opposing team. I have made LITERAL (not figurative) graphs and spreadsheets showing that I statistically suffer more "bad luck" than my opponents so don't try to tell me I'm "paranoid" or "a sore loser" or "George seriously it's just a game put the hand grenade down!"

The alien one isn't cheating. It actually learns how you hide n run n play. It's a learning alien, that's what makes the game much harder the better you play.

I still remember the complete pride I felt when I first completed level 9 high 5 in Tetris, seeing that rocket go up was just a great feeling! 😅

From what I've heard, there are two AI brains in control of the Alien. One is the forebrain that patrols and hunts you, and the other one knows exactly where you are at all times, and gives small hints to the forebrain. The farther in the game you are, or the better you are at avoiding it, the more the forebrain pays attention to the hints, hence the better it gets at hunting you

Fun note: In the Mario Kart Wii game (for the original wii), you can avoid the blue shell. I've done it twice. If you have a mushroom boost, you can hit it just as the shell is about to dive and escape the blast radius. Or if you have a bomb-omb, you can throw it in front of you and the shell can follow it instead. But I think those might be bugs. The best way to avoid the blue shell is to go into a cannon.

Not only did Mike learn where Luigi's death stare came from but he also managed to imitate it perfectly. Kudos.

How about every time I play Mario kart. The Ai MAGICALLY get 5 red and blue shells in a row. I swear it's not an excuse for me getting cocky and sitting on the finish line...

how about on skyrim and its archery, Ive lost count of the amount of times I've shot an arrow where someone is/going to be only to have them stop for no reason halfway through their patrol, turn on a coin and go the other way or randomly burst into a sprint/speed slide out of the way of the arrow while you're in sneak mode and there should have been no reason the npc acted like that. Hell I even had one moment where a bandit was standing next to a chest and as soon as I let loose on the arrow she turned around and used the chest making herself duck and the arrow went over her head. -_- Its not just me either Ive seen this stuff happen to ESO when he does his skyrim videos.

Half Life 2 Episode 1. This is a bit of a game-breaker but do-able. When you arrive at the train station for the final fight, use the gravity gun to manually move RPG rounds (the loose ones lying around the ammo crate outside) to the passenger escape area. Take as many as you want over, but make sure you have enough to bring down a strider (5, so 3 in your inventory plus a couple of spares). Go back, kick off the ending battle, take down the Combine forces, escort the citizens out, trigger the last sequence of dialog with Alyx. The Strider that chases you through the shipping container area will show up. Use your carried RPG rounds to take it out before it can fuck up the gate and force you to cross over the crates and duel it along the way. Yay! You won and can just walk out without that tedious firefight on the gantries, dealing with mines, the ever-present Strider, and so on, right? *WRONG!* If you take down the Strider before it traps you into said tedious fire-fight...the computer spawns another. Oh no, mister, you're _going_ to do this fight _our_ way! - Valve Software (probably). Just for shits and giggles I turned on cheats, god-mode, and gave myself another pile of RPG rounds and it spawned a _third_ Strider.

How about in Pokemon when the gym leaders always just so HAPPEN to score a critical hit directly before I defeat their best Pokemon, and then always hits me with that Full Restore and wipes my entire team with a flurry of magical critical hits???

Okay, can I just say that I *HATE* the Mario Kart Blue Shell! It serves no actual purpose other than to screw up the guy in 1st. I've never seen anyone get it in a position where it could actually help the person who throws it, making it a completely useless item to get, and on top of that, it screws up the guy in 1st and likely the one in 2nd as well. It is the game almost literally saying "screw you" to the person in 1st. It seems like Nintendo kind of figured this out when they made the horn, the one item that can defend against it other than a perfectly timed mushroom, but that's hardly enough. If you ask me, it should just be removed from the game entirely.

Midnight Club Los Angeles. You can be half a lap ahead for the whole damn race, then an Escalade appears out of nowhere as you drift the last corner, with no way to steer around it as you slide sideways at 150mph, which allows every other racer to pass you within sight of the finish line. especially prominent in pink slip races, just to make sure you lose all of your cars trying to get the other guys one. this game is also severely guilty of the "rubber banding" you spoke of. there is no way a Mitsubishi should be able to beat a Lamborghini consistently.

Funny thing about Alien: Isolation: The alien has TWO AIs. One is constantly aware of where you are and gives the other one hints on how to find you.

Using the same "Hold button while selecting character" secret that lets you play Shin Akuma when used on normal Akuma, you can actually play as Super M-Bison by using it on M Bison who locked into X-ISM and most definitely able to use the Super Psycho-Crusher.

Company of Heroes: Fogs of war doesnt apply to A.I. at key moments. The map was divided by a river with a destroyed bridge and theres zero options available to the AI to see the far reaches of my side, yet the AI knows exactly where my elite units are hidden to randomly fire the Calliope rockets at. I initially accepted this as a good guess and move them to another part of the map. A few minutes later, it fires its next barrage into a totally different area, hitting my relocated hidden units again. This happened multiple times proving the fogs of war are not applicable to the AI.

You think GTAV is bad, remember GTA San Andreas? Get the highest wanted level and say goodbye cop cars, hello infinite tanks, and unlike GTAV in San Andreas you cant hide until they go away. I've literally used a flying car to get from San Feirro to Los Santos and as soon as I landed on the ground, infinite tanks.

As with GTA V, it's the same deal with the 5'o if you decide to.. say, hide in an alley. Cops decide to stop their car a few meters away and DECIDE TO JUST SEARCH THAT ONE ALLEYWAY or maybe even climb that one ladder to the roof that you're on.

That's why the newer Tetris games use a bucket randomizer. It throws each piece into a bag, and pulls them out one at a time until you hit one of each before shuffling them up again. Also I've heard the Alien has two AIs, one that controls movement but doesn't know where you are, and one that knows where you are and feeds the first one hints if it's stumped.

ufc undisputed 2010 was messed up in the career mode. If you enter the championship fight with a really good record (i was 7-1, 7 KOs), the champion just rushes to you, takes you down, and gets you in a submission. Submissions from the computer are virtually inescapable and this was all on the easiest mode

Guys, you've missed the Grand Emperor of cheating games: Civilization. On harder difficulties, any version of Civ would drive Ghandi to using nukes.... Oh, I get it now.

Come on. Where is X COM? The game that has screwing you over as a dayjob? I mean it is possible to miss a crucial 100% flankshot. And the game does it often and with a straight face.

Playing Rainbow 6 Vegas on coop my buddy and I found that the AI always knew where at least one of us were. For example I could actually watch an ai aim his weapon and follow my buddies movements even when he was behind a wall. Even if the AI was behind a wall they literally knew exactly where he was.

The best example in my experience of the game screwing you up is Megaman ZX there is an optional boss called 'Omega' and if you have life hacks he will literally do a move where he disables your hacks or simply ignore the coding(not really sure how it works) and damage you not regarding the hack plus the fight is hard as as hell in any dificulty.

i once downloaded mario party onto an emulator to see if the dice rolls were actually random. turns out theyre all decided at the beginning of the match.

X-Com! When you move a soldier right next to the last remaning alien to finish it of with a clear open 95 % shot... and it misses... or the enemy dodges so you do to little damage to kill it... or the move happens to reveal yet another enemy squad that was lurking at the edge of the map. And then that soldier gets butchered and your remaning soldiers panic.

The Tetris part hit a chord with me because I’ve played an obscene amount of Splatoon 3 Tableturf, and it sucks when I have the perfect spot to play a specific card and get a ton of special points, and either a. The card never comes, b. The spot is filled up when you do get that card, or c. When you play the card, you get none of those special points because there’s still one empty space bordering the special tiles.

I forget which wwe game it was (maybe 2007) where you could spam the reversal button and almost always reverse the ability unless you didn't know which type of move they where going for. I also prefer the button mash to avoid a 3 count rather than the stupid minigame prompt to get the line in the colored spot. There should be an option to return some key features to the older format

Re: GTA V, I swear that assassin's Creed 3 did the exact same thing. I would spend over half an hour sometimes trying to run away, hide in a bush, and then turn a corner and someone would recognize me and the chase was back on. Frustrating AF.

What about in Watch Dogs 1 where they do the Ctos scans? any "blackouts" i used would run out just before they give up the scan, which starts building it back up, and new ctos scan circles appear in front of you just as you are about to escape the one currently scanning you, with that scenario repeating indefinetly until the scan reaches 100%

You guys forgot FarCry 2. It had a weapon jam/malfunction system to mimic supposed real gun failures. Except-when you're about to shoot at an enemy-your gun just mysteriously jams or blows up. Oh yeah, your gun would in fact blow up and you don't have it anymore. So you purchase a new one, let's say a brand new pump action shotgun. Fire off 5 or 6 rounds to make sure it works. Then go about your game. You come across some enemy, aim and squeeze the trigger-'click'. Jammed. Brand new from the weapon shop, and just happens to jam when you face an enemy. Very nice. With my experience playing fighting games, in arcade mode the bosses usually get more aggressive the more rounds that go on. It's really frustrating

I've actually broken away from rubberbanding, you have to hut every turn precisely but it's possible to drag them farther and farther back and start lapping them but you gotta be on point I've only done it a handful of times in my ENTIRE 30 years of life.

Pokemon Sun and Moon's Battle Tree is a nightmare. Computer players in Pokemon usually get better chances at random status effects/buff/critical hits, but the Battle Tree takes it up another level by specifically picking any and every Pokemon that can perfectly counter your team while getting a buff to those better status effect chances. And it doesn't stop there because every iteration of the game since Emerald has had some battle facility with the same cheating way, getting worse along the way.

In Super Mario 64, there is an instance where the Penguin that you race in cool cool mountain swerves off of the track and never comes back. It ticks me off every time I race this penguin.

Any "random number generator" is really just a highly complicated program designed to appear random, but it's not actually random. If you had the processing power, you could actually predict every so called "random" move a computer makes.

The freaking desire sensor in the Monster Hunter series, I swear I had to hunt Hyper Silver Rathalos 5 times for a Hyper S. Rath Scale, normally 70-some % drop rate

It's been a long time since I played Red Dead Redemption on my PS3 but I remember this bird flipping moment all to well. When you lasso a horse and you are riding it back to your house at the MacFarlane Ranch decide to take a break and you camp out by a cliff and some trees. You know once you lasso a horse it's not yours until you save it by one of the homes you own?! So my camping trip is up and I decided to get back on my horse from Reno and start galloping to the MacFarlane Ranch. When all of the sudden I hear " Hey mister care to give a lady a ride?!" And she is on her way to you and your horse, pulls you off of your horse and starts to leave you in the dust. You get up and fixing to call your horse back when all of a sudden a cougar appears growling, clawing at you and starts to eat you while at the same time trying to get up from the fall you just had?! What the F@$%k! I swear that was just planted for me to screw me over?!?!!😒😠😠

I will say that on some home versions of SF2 Turbo or higher, it was obvious that the computer reacted not to the movements of your character, but to the motions on the controller. I had a controller that was slightly worn out, and I would occasionally fail an attack in spite of using the correct input. In response, the computer opponent would perform the perfect counter for the maneuver had it gone off.
