I painted my whole house ivory before I moved in. The light coming in the windows makes the walls look cream; but it is a happy color, so I won't repaint.
I get the rule about the size of art, but I think the size is secondary to the meaningfulness of it. I’d rather see too small or too large art from local artists or someone’s travels than the right sized art that is generic art from a big box store. For me, every piece of art in my home (including my hallway!) is art that has personal meaning and makes me happy to look at.
Painting the walls, ceiling and trim all the same color...preferably any neuralized color will make your home feel more high end. Save clear, bright, un-grayed colors for assessories.
Previous Victorian house had floor to cieling windows, white curtains, old oak woodwork. I painted the bedroom with super dark forest green. Balanced with white and light. It was fabulous. Paper in other rooms. Next house almost no windows :(((, so cream walls work great. :)))
I think you could do it either way but I also think large dark rooms could get too dark (unless that's what you want) so one accent wall could keep it bright!
Never buy anything you don't LOVE. Choose beautiful things...classic things. Antique stores and resale stores have amazing things that merely need a dusting. Estate sales are prime hunting grounds for everything. Have a place to put it when you get home or leave it there. Troll town streets for things left for the trash man. I found a beautiful painting that fits me and my wall. )))))
I don’t agree with the colours, as I hate dark colours in a house, especially magnolia, brown, beige, black & grey. Far too depressing for me. I only have bright colours in my house, such as a pink lounge, pink bathroom & loo & peach walls in other rooms. So warm & cosy. I also hate dark furniture & only like white. I’m very unusual & don’t follow trends.
Colour in your home is a very personal thing. I have all white walls but have colourful things everywhere.. Bright towels, curtains, duvet covers etc and I love it. The most important thing is getting rid of the clutter!
Dark dark colors won't last. Dark comics as shown will make the house look smaller and morbid. Thank you for sharing. But I can see that would. A woman thar likes wood would never use those colors that will cause loneliness and possibly depression. Sorry you chose these designers..and.. won't be back!! Today were war, crime and inflation is over the top is why these Dark colors are settling in..Dark colors took hold during WW1 & WW2 Check it out.
Okay, those are interesting tips for people who own their living space and are allowed to change stuff like wall colour and door handles, and are allowed to hang pictures onto the walls. Which is probably a minority when it comes to people renting their homes.
I bet you could ask your landlord! Every rental I've had I've been able to change a lot things - including painting my walls (as long as I've asked)! I find a lot of landlords appreciate if you take care of the place and make it nicer.
Tip: no ceiling lamps, but wall and floor lamps to make your home more cozy and luxurious. Wooden floor, high skirting boards and natural materials. And curtains from ceiling to floor or 1/2 cm above the floor. No artificial plants even if they look like real ones. No synthetic rugs, cushion covers, etc.
@@maryellenyork2819 So true! I have them in every bedroom, the living room, and the screened in porch. These days you can get ceiling fans that are really interesting, including some with blades that only extend when the fan is on and otherwise tuck in above the light fixture.
Well, you would hate us, we have put in so much wiring and lights into ceilings where there weren’t any in those 70s houses. No one likes that, everyone wants to put in ceiling lights.
Hi Pat! I found out it's this brand called Lilly Moon - but you could also take the image to the paint store and they can match the color for you in any brand you like! www.lillymoonpaint.com/products/opulent-ivory-coast
