This kid just got a diploma from a master ! NO university could give this kid what Buddy gave him. The respect of one of the top blues masters of all time !
This kid's got potential to be one of the greatest guitarists ever, and he's in great hands playing with Buddy. That's what you call a natural, he really was born to play music.
Saw this kid play last night in Lynn,MA with Buddy Guy. He's now 15 and is even more incredible. Since this encounter with Quinn,Buddy has took him under his wing and takes him on tour.
Quinn, that was fantastic! You are going to be a force in the music world. And Buddy Guy, you are awesome! How many superstars would do something like that? What a wonderful thing to do for someone else. You are a great man Buddy. If you could only teach that to others.
After I get tired of all the bad crap going on in the world, and watching videos of death and destruction that is happening in our world today,I come back to this.It is my feel good moment of the day.Buddy Guy could easily dis this young guy out of professional jealousy, but he urges him to be the great musician he already is.Thanks for posting this.
I hear a lot of Buddy in this child's playing. You must admit, Buddy Guy is a sweet as hell guy and obviously wants to see the blues tradition continue. When I met BB King and we got tot talking, he was so upset at the fact that for the last 30 plus years, a majority of his audience are young white men and no appreciation from the black community for the blues. I am white and there were no racist undertones to his statement, just disappointment that young black kids listen to that shit they call rap. He said, "This is part of their heritage and they could give a shit and are uninterested." To me I found this very sad.
Child prodigy absolutely! Wonderful. But gotta just love Buddy Guy for bringing him forward and giving him his love and time! That 2 mile smile is the real deal. What a loving man!
This kid is freaking AWESOME!!!! and so lucky to get to play onstage with the legendary blues man Buddy Guy!!!! You KNOW this kid's gonna make it big in the world of blues!!
Buddy Guy is one of the finest blues guitarist in the world and he owns the stage whenever he is there! This kid BLEW HIM AWAY! HE IS AMAZING! Buddy has a new protege!
I saw Buddy Guy live this month and Quinn opened for him! He's 14 now and he was absolutely amazing! Buddy sponsors him and he has some albums out. Quinn said listening to Buddy is what got him into the blues and Buddy discovered him when he was only 7! Just incredible. Keep it up!
This kid is freaking AWESOME!!!! and so lucky to get to play onstage with the legendary blues man Buddy Guy!!!! You KNOW this kid's gonna make it big in the world of blues!! Just look at how proud Buggy is with the way this kid plays... WOW!!!!!!!
Buddy guy was so nice to that kid, what a class act. He gave that kid a great gift, what a confidence booster and encouragement that must be for an 8 year old.
i've watched this vid over hundred fifty times, gotta love the blues, can't stop them tears rollin' down my face......n BG i am glad to have seen him live once in Sydney many years ago......BG & JW r the Blues
I think BUddy Guy has the prettiest smile around! These two can definitely play the blues. Quinn has grown a lot now but I keep coming back to his skill at such a young age.....Buddy Guy is the Man!!!!!!
This is turning into one of my all-time favorite YT clips. Buddy Guy's reactions throughout the performance are 100% priceless. If Kid Sullivan doesnt burn out before age 18 he could do great things with his 6-string razor.
Buddy Guy just put a smile on my face. That kid is awesome, and Buddy seems like one of the coolest guys in the world, man I wish I could jam with Buddy.
please... my heart this to explode!! it's too much for my!! this boy plays much better than some of those that say that they are at the present time guitarists (?!)many more!!! , thank you Buddy for your humility to present us with you to the new guitarist of blue of this century.... today I broke my guitar!!!!!!!!!!... WOW greeting from ARGENTINA
the technical mastery is already hard to believe, but to improvise on the spot with such quality is...unbelievable. I still can't believe that's an 8 yrs old on the stage.
Great clip just found it .This young person can really play.I give my props to him and the wonderful great Buddy Guy.Thanks Buddy for helping bring up the next generation of Blues players and being the inspiration you have been for decades.
I saw him on TV a year ago and now he's Jammin' with the big boys. He must eat, sleep, drink with that guitar. Man alive, don't ever quit you're the future.
Buddy Guy is great on encouraging young talents! Saw Buddy with harmonica whizkid, Josh King years ago in Redbank, NJ. Imagine Quinn & Josh together, now? Holey moley!
I am so impressed with this kid. Who ever it was that put a guitar in his hands at such a young age (obviously) and showed him how to play. . . . . is an AWESOME person and an even better teacher. My hat comes off to you, who ever you are. And of course for Quinn too. Both of you, take a bough!! Keep going son!!
this date will be history in 40 years. A hall of famer invites a future hall of famer to jam with him. i tell u wot. saw Quinn on redrocks years ago and i was speechless and stunned. he will be one of the alltime-greats. and btw, look buddy, cant get the smile out his face. thats priceless. god bless buddy to give quinn this shot.
"The Momma Made Me Stay in My Room Blues" What else can make a kid play the Blues with such soul! And Mr. Guy taking the interest in showcasing this kid, can't wait to see this kind of sharing in the ego driven world of Pop. Yeah right! The blues is the people's music.
he has been Buddy's support act at most of his concerts since this. He is 14 now and i saw him last night in Broadway. Unbelievable talent. (I'm talking about both Buddy and the kid :P) He went from this to playing Madison Square Gardens to 40,000 people.
This earlier comment seems to come closest to illustrating just how special this little kid's talent is: "bluesborn 2 years ago As someone who has played guitar for over 40 years I have to say this kid is truly amazing. We are talking about an 8 year old child here. The guitar is a very demanding instrument to play for someone whose body is still developing and doesn't yet possess the physical ability to wield it with such facility. Not just pressing down, but pushing the strings up,AND hitting the proper pitch AND doing so with feeling.I'm always left wondering where that kind of rare ability comes from in the very young." Musical history right before our eyes.
Wow. This kid is a freak of nature. I look forward to following his career for decades to come.... Also, I saw Buddy guy in concert earlyer tonight...AMAZING as usual!
Reading other comments... I give the tyke an A+ for standing up there and holding his own with Buddy Guy! Jeez, man. The child is only 8. When I was 8 I was playing marbles and hopscotch.
just saw this video for the very first time because a friend from work told me about him....man this blew my mind and gave me the chills!!! Incredible that's all I can say...
That's amazing! I love how Buddy reacts to him, sometimes just shaking his head and smiling like he can't believe what he is hearing coming out of this eight year old's guitar. Something tells me this is not the last we will hear of Quinn Sullivan.
I have been NOT playing the guitar for more than 40 years, despite hours of practice. Two young guitarists have shown me what I needed and what it takes that so impresses me now, Quinn Sullivan and Tallan Latz with astounding talent. Undoubtedly Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton also felt this early on as well. The music flows out of their fingers like a language. I'd give a year of my life to have this level of talent for a year of my life.
As an inspiration, I played this to my 6 year-old grand-daughter, to show her the power and surpressed realm of 'just one part' to this ongoing paradaym of the human spirit!
Fantastic! Feel great about both these two...Buddy having such a great time teaching...Quinn Sullivan giving his all under that great presence and pressure..
