The first game i ever watched live was game 7 of 2016. i stayed up super late to watch it after watching the highlights (the games are on at about 3am in the UK) and have been a hardcore basketball fan ever since. Speaking on what you said about appreciating greatness, in my younger days I used to be a Kobe hater, that's just how it was back then, if you were a fan of Kobe or Bron even MJ, you hated the others and I was a typical LeBron fan. As I got older I came around to understanding why Kobe should be praised, not hated, I realized what it meant to appreciate greatness thanks to this change in mentality, and even though I'm still very much a LeBron fan, Kobe will never be unappreciated by me. That's something a lot of people still don't get about LeBron, most people for the longest, even yourself as you admitted, were Bron haters, but his ability to perform at the highest level on the biggest stages time and time again is undeniable, so much so that even his biggest haters have come around to appreciate him and become fans themselves. That is the mark of true greatness, it takes a lot for haters to admit he's the goat, just look at Pierce and KG, always used to be haters, but even they could no longer deny the greatness of LeBron James, and to me, things like that are a bigger statement than most other things involving these players. Something that always confused me about the 2013 and 2016 runs, is that Lebron gets no credit for finishing both of those series. 2013, Lebron decimated the Spurs in game 7 but people only seem to focus on game 6, which he ALSO had a massive game in. 2016, he was the one to ice the game from the free throw line after a BAD fall onto his hand. Yes, Kyrie hit the shot to put them up by 3…against the greatest 3 point shooting team of all time led by the greatest 3 point shooter of all time. They NEEDED to be up by 4 to stop that game from going into overtime where they would’ve surely lost given that Golden State had a much better bench and their stars hadn’t played as many minutes as Bron and Kyrie by that point. People always talk about the “shots that saved Lebron’s legacy” but not him finishing the series’ after those shots.
