6 years ago I made my final video on Jordan vs LeBron, and quite a bit has changed since then.
I wanted to watch it over for the first time in a while and see what holds up and what doesn't!

I personally feel that accolades get a little overrated in NBA debate because for someone like Jerry West if he had 4-5 rings he's easily top 7-8ish I think the best way to look at a player is to either combine the eye test and accolades or put accolades in it's own categories and also I tend to value player performance more than rings and so much and happen in the Finals outside of said players hands.

15:37 Not sure how that's correlated, considering it was AD who's 2nd in DPOY voting and 1st team all defense. Anyone who actually watch Lebron play post 2014 know that his defense definitely took a slip. He had a couple of highlights but is nowhere near as consistent. He wasn't even hustling back on defense DURING the playoffs in 2018. You know what's even funnier? 2021 Lakers had the league's 2nd best defense in opp pts/game and 1st in the league in def rating.. and here's the kicker, Lebron James missed 27 out of the 72 possible games that season, Anthony Davis missed 36 out of the 72 possible games that season. The squad carried that season with 2 of their superstar players regularly out with injury.

What does Lebron do that is better than Jordan? No footwork, no consistent reliable jump shot, average to below average free throw shooter, ball dominant and won't learn to play off ball or in a system, stat pads and farms assists which disrupts the natural flow of the offense, minimizes his teammates skills. Lebron is 4-6. That is a losing record. Even if I cut Lebron slack for 07' and 18', there are still 4 additional losses he must account for. People try to make excuses because he "had to play the Warriors". Well guess what? The Warriors could use the same argument that they "had to face Lebron James". The Warriors were not this unbeatable super team before Durant joined. They were a rather small team. Steph nor Klay are exceptionally tall or athletic. Draymond served as an undersized center for much of his career and is generally not an offensive threat. Recall that OKC had these mfs down 3-1 and could've sealed the deal in the 2016 WCF. Once Durant joined the Warriors I would argue that it actually brought parity. Lebron vs. KD, Kyrie vs. Steph, and JR/Shumpert vs. Klay. That series was not unwinnable. Kawhi had these Golden State mfs down by 20+ points in the 3rd quarter of game 1 in the the 2017 WCF damn near by himself before he got injured. Lebron never evolved his game to maximize his teammates' skills and is probably the greatest contributing factor as to why he is 4-6. You've gotten soft Dom that's all. Yes the game is more skilled in terms of great 3pt shooting and efficient scoring but the game has deteriorated in other ways hence when why the US hasn't had the best performances in international competitions in the past couple years. Even Doncic and other foreign players have said it's easier to score in the NBA than in Europe. The European game is more similar to the 90s game.

I can't take the opinion of someone who still says Lebron was "bigger, faster, stronger" seriously. I don't know what happened to your perspective but you definitely had a much more realistic understanding of the game in your first video. Just seems like modern narratives are more important to you now. People like to downplay Jordan's era and competition in order to justify his dominance. It's extremely disingenuous to imply that Lebron had to face tougher defenses when there's no hand checking allowed now and he's playing in the easiest to score era in modern history. They publicly stated the reasons for changing the rules, they wanted more scoring and wanted the game to be easier for perimeter players. You can see scoring and shooting percentages across for all players immediately climbing up after the rule change. Defense was literally too strong in the 90's/early 2000's and we're now trying to say defenses weren't good back then lmao.
@zxcvb3772
@zxcvb3772 4 месяца назад
You could also find video/interview of Adam Silver saying this exact thing. He said he's trying to make the NBA easier to score now because the 90's was too tough and slow. Don't know what happened to NBA fans today that just spread lies all the time. The commissioner said that he wanted to make offense easier to attract fans, coaches said it's impossible to play defense in today's era because of the rules, players said euro ball have tougher rules and it's easier to score in the NBA.. yet NBA fans be like: Today's defense is tough! There is a reason a year 19, 37 years old Lebron was able to average 30 ppg in 2022 when he had only done that twice previously in his career, in his prime. There is a reason why there are so many 25ppg scorers in today's league and it's not because they're all all time great, but because of the rules change.

You can't use the argument he's doing it because of this era when dude literally played the last 2 decades. Check the team scoring numbers from the 2000s. They were actually scoring more in the 90s. Didn't change lebrons production though just like it wouldn't change Jordans. Greatness works in any era.

@@ramsfan1988 Yes I do know when Lebron started playing, but do you know anything about basketball? Lebron played only one season with handchecking, that's it. I already said defenses were strong in the early 00's. Scoring has gotten easier and easier since then. But my comment wasn't even about Lebron's scoring, it's about the claim that defense was weak in the 90's. There is no evidence so support that claim, all he said was Jordan used "basic moves against Majerle", which is wild. 90's had some of the best defensive players of all time, no defensive 3 seconds, and physical play. And it frustrates y’all to know that Bron kinda wins against anybody whether it be Jordan/Kobe/Russell/ Kareem . Also a good amount of lebrons low games is because of a literal pandemic, and something tells me the difference between Kareem’s 12 ppg or Duncan 13 ppg or Kobe 17 ppg is not essentially a 10 game difference. It’s not like LeBron is slowly going out, he has been a 27 ppg scorer as a laker. Like it or not that won’t drop to 15 ppg just because he adds an extra 10 also he isn’t resting he’s usually injured. DISAGREE. Jordan would not average 50 in 1974, nor will James Harden dominate the 90's. Today's players carry the ball almost every possession and travel on half of them. You could pick a random game to watch and pause on random play and you'll see them either carrying the ball or traveling or flopping.

Adam Silver talked about the 90's basketball and said it was too physical and slow paced. He's trying to make today's basketball less physical and faster paced to entice casual basketball fans, and he did it. Anyone that is not biased can see that it is easier to play in today's NBA. There is a reason Lebron was able to average 30 ppg in year 19, age 37 when he had only done so twice in his prime. The infamous Harden step back is a travel. The funny irony that Steph Curry once tried to do the Harden step back and was called a travel, but when Harden did it, it wasn't called a travel.

Idk man, to me every time I hear somebody trying to defend Lebum, all I hear is soooo many excuses, but at the end of the day, he WAS one of the most amazing players ever, but the reality is very simple, He's a much bigger loser than winner, for every amazing stat he has, for every great achievement he has, he has an equally huge choke or bad thing, 4 rings? 6 loses with huge chokes, most points ever? Most turn overs, most missed shots, most playoff loses, etc. Yes he is amazing and what he has done in his career can't be taken lightly at all and yes he WAS amazing, but the reality is that for all the good there is equal or more bad. MJs career was not perfect, but you said it so well, there's not a single time where you can say MJ choked SO hard...

Exactly. I’m a big Wilt Chamberlain fan and I say the same thing about him. He was also bigger and stronger than everyone else and he also put up amazing numbers, but at the end of the day, Wilt got his ass handed to him A LOT. He cared more about stats than winning.

Yeah as time has went on accolades as a whole start feeling a little hollow because you start looking through the fallacy of some of the things, like voter fatigue and preconceived notions.
@TambayLogic

scoring titles doesnt need voters.. steals leader doesnt need voters.. heck even lebron benefitted on voters in his laker years where he didnt deserve being an all NBA player because he only plays half the season

@@TambayLogicyes but scoring titles are highly contextually to the league. For example you could average 40 in 1965 and still not get the scoring title because of wilt.
