@@mossman381 agreed / my son and I are taking off my front clip on my 86 Square soon - are there 4 fender bolts on each side and the two core supports? Thinking once free we can take it off complete.

Yes, 4 fender bolts on each side and two core support bolts. There is wiring and the heater hoses were attached to the inner fender. That's going to be a heavy piece to pick up. Just the core support with the radiator just about took out my back.

I had a 79 4×4 Chevy, and my passenger side core support bracket was welded back together like yours.

Truck doesn’t look bad and I know the feeling about not knowing where to stop that’s why my nova has been in a 10 year frame off restoration because I couldn’t stop

The truck is a good starting point. Everything isn't completely rotted out. It's still going to take a lot of time and even more money to complete. Might do this one like the 70 and get it looking good under the hood and running/driving. Later down the road I can finish the body. I am not sure.

Making sure you oil the springs is more important

I've had 10+ squares over the years and currently drive 3 and have restored 2 of them. I've never had a hood issue when oiling the hinges and springs. Everything moves very very easily

@@brettwalker5318 I have never had a kinked hood either. I don't think oiling the springs will do anything. I know with garage door springs you oil them, but they are twisted, and I believe rub each other. The springs on a hood are not twisted, they are just pulled and stretched. Just lubricate all the joints on the hinge and you will be ok.
