One of the devs here - glad to see you enjoyed your playthrough, Equestria is an extremely old country in the game and I would highly recommend looking at more up to date or recently created nations for a true example of what we can do - suggestions include Hippogriffia (there's a very cool commie route there as well as a strong harmonist route and a couple of secret paths) Colthage (many paths, including a secret one that involves multiple civil wars to get to and has more writing as a route than some entire other nations) or Wingbardy (Beakolini go brrrr.) There are even some paths for countries based on the country being capitulated by a neighbour and then using the event prompt to tag-switch - Chiroptera being beaten by a neighbour is an example of this, and leads to a few choices including a religious-socialist route.

I love the thought of Taureor watching My Little Pony.

The path of Celestia going nuts with supremacist faction is really fun, Luna's civil war is also neat.

Taureor's wife coming back home from work, finding him watching My Little Pony while their son's playing toys in another room would be one hell of a thing to see xD

This is literally one of the best moda out there. With some nations you can also do many fucked up shit, and New Mareland has a path that leads to the 1984 guys from Orwell's book to take over

this mod has more writing than all the others combined

Taureor is the only person I've seen use this playstyle of mass infantry swarms. It's impressive that it works.

This mod is rather amazing if you're coming in from basic HoI 4. Imagine Road to 56 tech and pretty much every single nation, except for Zebrica (The Bottom Continent), have fully fleshed out focus trees. Though do keep in mind some focus trees are more railroaded than others. Most nations get at least 2-3 branching paths, usually different ideologies or something similar, but some of them can be rather hard to do if you don't know about it in advance. Equestria is kind of a prime example there, officially it plays like democratic britain with some government reform focuses at the end, but if you know what to choose during certain events, you get everything from a civil war that let's you play as the smaller split off states, to turning into a completely authoritarian world conquering empire.

Yes - _please more of that!_ Not even liking MLP (never seen it) but this is so well made and just a weird Kaiserreich basically. Fresh and new.

It`s good? Dude, this mod has the greatest amount of work put into it out of all HOI4 mods! PLEASE play it more, I love it.

My guess as to why people love it is because it's extremely memeable just like Sponge Bob or older cartoons. And the hate comes exactly from "nah, you can't watch that, it's aimed at X" crowd. Tbh this mod has a lot of collaborations with other mods and you can enable them if you want to play human. If I recall you can even put NCR against Red Army in this one. P.S.: there's an option in game preset that asks which path you want dread league to take. Choose both.

I’m so glad that you gave the mod a try, and particularly that you ended up going the Daybreaker route. It has always been my favorite since Princess Celestia was my favorite supporting character from the show (who is represented in this mod, anyway). Words cannot describe how ecstatic I was to see this pop up in my notifications, and I would be eager to watch basically any further content you pull from this mod.

I hope you'll try Changelings next. They have an entire separate focus tree if they take over Equestria

Wooo! Daybreaker event! Nice hold though, you did well for going into a Dark Alicorn event and coming out the other side. Things like this, the Lunar Uprising, and other possible uprisings can make your fight against those damn bugs a nightmare. Imagine a three-way war from all major sides and having only one port city to rely on. Or none at all. It's impressive.

Very happy to see you and other paradox youtubers trying something out of the norm. EaW is very loved mod even by those who aren't into MLP, I wouldn't have picked it up if I didn't see other people try it first and in turn realizing that it is so much more than a reskin.

Do more please, either as Changelings or as the Griffonian Empire, they got a cool route where you remain loyal but everyone breaks away and you gotta reconquer them.

If you play further into this mod I recommend an overview of some sort. Each race is unique and understanding the personalities of each race helps play them.

I'll be waiting on fimfiction for a fanfiction of Taureor as Celestia. Do your magic guys.

Important to note: the specific MLP series this mod is inspired by is "Friendship is Magic". The series "Make your Mark" and "Tell your Tale" have zero connection or relevance.

This video makes apperant of Taureor's hatret of comminizm and his desire of puns from dadness.

The equestrian civil war is fun too. To get to that, just fail badly at Luna's project to integrate the batponies. Your decisions in the following event-chain will decide the starting conditions of the war, and you get to pick either side to play as, or sit it out as one of the puppet states. The changelings are likely to attack during the civil war. But the civil war also helps to end the stagnation of harmony earlier, allowing an earlier buildup.

I know I’m a little late to the video but this is one of my favorite mods for Hoi, there are so many countries with so many paths that for the most part all feel viable, although turning historical ai off can lead to some nutty stuff

If you keep playing, as long as you get the racial technologies for them, the special forces are like tanks. Pegasi are paradropable light tanks, griffin knights like heavy tanks, zebrican chargers mediums, Hippogriff marines amphibious.

Recently tried the mod for the first time with a friend who is somewhat of a pro in this mod and it was kind of hilarious - although I was immediately thrown into the civil war of the changeling - won it with his help and some grinding though… 😄

Equestria is the first continent they made, it's still very good, but the countries that came out later have greatly raised the quality bar. I strongly recommend playing for Hippogryphia - a kingdom and sea ponies located in the northwest of Zebrika for the Communists. An incredibly worked-out path.

Really enjoyed this video. I love the thought of Taureor sitting down to watch My Little Pony with a notepad preparing for this.

it is a fun mod, has a lot more than you see in the normal focus trees, a good example : if you conquer the hole continent of griffonia you can a second focus tree for reformes (which at that point it matters not but it is nice flavour)

I've been holding off on trying this mod for years after first hearing of it, dismissing it due to being a My Little Pony mod. But after hearing time and again of how good it was supposed to be I did give in and tried it at some point. And it was totally worth it! It is without a doubt one of the best mods for HoI4 currently in inexistence. Even if you are not into the puns and backstory, it has really great an innovative mechanics and fun focus trees with lots and lots of options. Also anyone who thinks this mod is child-friendly is sorely mistaken. You can play nations that base their economy on slavery and raiding neighbors for example and either abolish that or fully learn into it. One nation even unleashes a magically enhanced plague on their neighbor, which I strongly suspect to be an option for the player to do, albeit I've so far only been on the receiving end, due to not having played the attacking nation so far. In regards to Pegasi: Mechanically speaking they are paratroopers, not an airforce, so you need fighters even more (and transport planes) if you want to get the full use out of them.

This mod is SO GOOD. I haven't played vanilla in ages because of how good it is and how much content it has :'D

My personal favorite play throughs of this mod where Olinia, Las Vegas, Stalliongrad, New Maresoc. All definately worth a try. If you read the lore as you go there are some paths that make you feel like a right monster like the changelings and Maresoc.

This is definitely my favourite mod out there it's so well made with a lot of different paths for countries. Definitely want to see more of this mod from you, Griffonian Empire is a good one with lots of war goals I think you would enjoy, and playing the opposite side of the game you just played the Changelings are quite fun with an interesting event after you capitulate Equestria you can choose to play as a puppet state on the east coast that has quite a lot of interesting events and game mechanics

I hope you play the Secret Griffonian Empire Path one day. It's really hard but enjoyable. For an interesting playthrough I also reccomend Changeling lands, it has really good special research and you can customize your army whatever way you want.

The Grifonian Empire, on the continent to the right, is the most fun country to play in the mod, recommended if you plan to play again!

The continent of Equus as a whole is actually pretty weak. It's currently undergoing a massive overhaul update to make it better. Griffonia and North Zebrica offer a significantly stronger gameplay experience. And if you do end up watching more of the show it'll probably give you as much appreciation for the mod as it gives you gripes with it.

Definitely wanna see more. Would love to see you try to War of the two sisters while CHrysalis creeps up for her chance

If some of the stuff related to lore and such feels overbeering and that you need to watch the show to understand most of it is...partially the case. Mod in itself is inspired upon a show but most of the stuff in it is pure fanfiction, like Griffonia (continent on the right) has maybe one canon nation of Griffonstone and that's it for griffons, rest is made up by the dev team, so playing this and hardly understanding what is going on is just basic confusion to a new setting, you don't need to watch the show since everything is already explained here, some characters and motifs are from the show and they lay fundations on core content, to which mod team built upon. So, if you come into this thing open minded and be willing to read some of the stuff that mod has, you don't need any other media to understand the stories.

Also, it is best to think of Equestria as the Soviet Union gameplay wise, you are going to lose land but eventually you push back and win.

Id say if you want to get more familiar you would really only need to watch some of the season openings and finales specifically for the earlier seasons, although once you jump to the other continent it doesnt have much connection to the series much at all

This could be a very interesting series to explore!
