Read For Kids’ Sake Readathon PSA- The amount of buttons that this man has on his jacket can provide just as much of a reading experience as reading a book, I think. 11. KPTV Movie Bumper-I remember that animated version of Charlotte’s Web you mentioned in the description. Not only is it very nostalgic, but it’s one of those movies that’s a major tearjerker for me, even as a child.
@@MyMelodyOfTheHeart That man with the buttons was “Ramblin’ Rod” Anders, he hosted a kids cartoon show weekday mornings on KPTV. He might’ve had the biggest button collection in the world at the time? Charlotte’s Web is a wonderful memory of those days. I read the book first, it’s just as much a tearjerker.
This is a great treasury of Tom Peterson's commercials. The tagline "it's worth the trip" was referring to his stores only being in Southeast Portland, and the deals were so good that people would go there from far away in the Portland Metro Area. Smith's Home Furnishings went out of business several years later, but they were in business long enough to sponsor the KPTV game show for high school teens called "Smith's High Five." Our team in 1994 lost, but ended up with better prizes than the winners. I'm fairly certain that my brother and I watched "Escape from Alcatraz" during the Clint Eastwood Week. KPTV had Star Trek on at 6 PM for so long...The Next Generation would occupy the 7 PM slot on Saturdays from then on. By this time, I think I might've seen "Charlotte's Web" a few times already, and was probably not watching this as it aired. Great memories here!
I remember Tom Peterson's & Gloria's too commercials. In the 90's I got to watch TV at someone's house near there and it was so cool, I said that house was my favorite place to go when the 4th or 5th grade class got into the counseling circle for the weekly goup session with the school counselor.
These Tom Peterson's commercials were from before he filed for bankruptcy...when the business came back he added "and Gloria's too" because she warned him about the bad business deal that lead to the bankruptcy.
Schick Shadel Hospitals-..on the next episode..a dramatic intervention. Total Oatmeal-"The reason why i assaulted those two, officer? I was sick of telling them that i've been getting it all along." Sunbeam Express Meals-that coffee mug had to have been scalding hot Starburst-they taste even better when the wrapper is removed 😆
Dial One rolls out the plastic "carpet" for you when they come out? Interesting. Oh and because I'm on a bit of a streak - RIP GI Joe's stores in the Pacific Northwest (closed in 2009)
