A bunch of commercials that aired on local CBS affiliate KMST on July 4th, 1986 and on NBC on November 13th, 1988.
1. Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital (I'm not sure about these newfangled MRI do-whatsits...)
2. Lewis Volkswagen (Low prices again...ouch)
3. Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk (I wish they still had freakin' Popeye walking around. I want my grandfather clock to be punched into a hundred pocket watches so bad!)
4. 1-800 OFF COKE (Cripes! These people remind me of my parents! Were all office parties in the 80's like this?)
5. Classico Pasta Sauce (Reminds me of these modern Olive Garden commercials where Italian Natives praise their authenticity)
6. Cadillac (Really going for the yuppie market here, I see)
7. Pantene Hair Products (With Kelly LeBrock from "Weird Science")
8. Downy
9. Levi's 501 Jeans (What an awful commercial)
10. Promo for "Too Good To Be True" (With Patrick Duffy and Loni Anderson! I'm pretty sure this is the sort of programming they have in Hell)
11. Beef (Only Madeline Kahn could've made singing about eating pot roast with a spoon look so easy)
12. Promo for "The Karate Kid Part II"
13. Macy's Casio Week
14. Taquitos at Jack in the Box (Funny how their logo hasn't changed at all)
15. Kellogg's Nut & Honey Crunch (That's the golden voice of Gary Owens announcing)
16. Cadillac
17. Grape Nuts (This one is from 1981 according to the date at the bottom)
18. U.S. Armed Forces (We can all take the evil forces of Cobra out together!)
19. Bacon Swiss Burger at Wendy's (I sincerely apologize for the lack of Dave Thomas here. Apparently he didn't grace Wendy's commercials until '89)
20. Promo for "Too Good To Be True", "Unsolved Mysteries", "Night Court" and "Baby Boom"
21. PG&E (Installing braille marked oven dials since 1988)
22. Arrow Shirts (Gotta love those loud 80's shirt designs)

@1975Zantar From Wikipedia: Grape-Nuts is a breakfast cereal developed by C. W. Post in 1897. Despite its name, the cereal contains neither grapes nor nuts. Mr. Post believed that sucrose (which he called "grape sugar") formed during the baking process. This, combined with the nutty flavor of the cereal, is said to have inspired its name. Another explanation originates from employees at Post, who claim that the cereal got its name due to its resemblance to grape seeds, or grape "nuts."

??? Unless he signed some sort of ultra-exclusive contract, I'm not sure why it would be impossible for him to appear on other networks. According to his IMDB, he also made a TV movie for ABC that same year, and also did a ton of hosting gigs for a variety of specials throughout the 80's...all on different networks.

They probably would've back then too, but remember it was just a local ad. And the commercial being for drug rehab probably helped too.

Damn! That cocaine commercial!

I laughed at the lady being led across the room with the hit of cocaine. I wonder what that actor was really snorting up his nose, but knowing actors in the 80s it could have very well been cocaine.

A guy jumping rope in slow motion for thirty seconds in an empty attic? It doesn't exactly make me want to buy jeans.

I was a teenager in the 80's and I remember those anti drug commercials. I also remember how much fun I had and how enjoyable life was in the 80's and I didn't even need drugs. But as for now, We need to have some commercials telling us to use drugs just so we can forget how shitty things are now. Like, 1-800-use-coke! Thanks government!!

Yes, PG&E still exists. It stands for Pacific Gas & Electric, so I don't think it's over in New Jersey. I think they have Con Edison over there.

I loved both the commercials and the cereal! Wish they'd bring it back. My only request would be that they NOT package it in those tall boxes (labeled "family size") that many Kellogg's cereals come in these days. I don't like those because they don't fit in my cupboards!

Yeah, that anti-cocaine ad was...daring... to say the least. Total shenanigans on that pasta sauce ad. Nothing from the jar ever tastes 'homemade'! Hot or cold, you'd still have to add a lot of fruit and honey to make Grape Nuts edible. Uggh. *shudders*

Eric Clapton's cover of J.J. Cale's "Cocaine" is pretty apropos, considering the song is anti-cocaine, according to Clapton.

Kelly LeBrock at 3:51! Yowzers! She was the IT girl of the 80's! But then she got married to Steven Seagal and...... well, became not so "IT GIRL" anymore. haha

I love Grape Nuts, I don't care what anyone says. Of course you have to put more milk than cereal in the bowl considering how fast these things suck up liquid.

I love Grape-Nuts too. I actually remember making hot Grape-Nuts for breakfast during the colder months back then! Haven't tried that in ages.

I have a very fond and surprisingly clear memory of being at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk around the time these commercials aired (either 87 or 88). We visited my aunt and uncle who were living in San Jose at the time, and my parents and I went to the beach...I remember riding the Sky Riders with my dad and trying to pick out my mom on the beach, who was wearing a yellow shirt, and I remember putting our feet in the ocean. I was four. Sigh...fond memories...

@liteskinnededgal I dunno if you remember, but in the 90s there were a LOT of pretty racy anti drug PSAs. The one I remember best (and I only saw it once, it was probably pulled) was a girl giving herself an injection and then falling through the floor. She kept crashing through the floors of the building until she was IMPALED on a giant syringe. It actually made my little sister cry. Then there was the one with the kid huffing aerosol cans. His room fills up with water and the kid DROWNS.

Yeah, the Levi 501 commercial was the worst commercial so far, but then again there really shouldn't be a reason against it.

Love the Karate Kid II spot... had the biggest crush on Tamlyn Tomita back then! The Pantene add is a hoot too! Although I met Ian Mitchell-Smith years ago & he said that kissing Kelly wasn't nearly as much fun as it sounded! (Probably cause Hughes kept yelling direction at him!) By the... the guy in the Nut & Honey add (I think) is Todd Susman, best known as the townie cop in The Newhart Show! I saw him recently on an ED add!

VW Sciroccos were cool, the last version was not sold in the USA, wish they would bring it back , they don’t have anything exciting now in 2018 ...(Cadillac Allante was upscale, but too complex in its production to keep selling it)

@80sCommercialVault Con Edison serves, my guess anyway, North Jersey and NY. NJ also has PSE&G and Atlantic City Electric. I think PSE&G is more nuclear plant, but PG&E must've just triggered something in me to bring that up.
