I think it's just because people were more social in person, and everyone wasn't trying to sell themselves as a keyboard warrior/expert. If you want to talk to humans, you actually had to physically 'talk' to them. Like everyone had their politics. But I don't remember people like getting into it over them ALL of the time, and that being all people would talk about. I think the whole 'more social' aspect sort of lended itself to people generally being more friendly to each other, since most of the shit talk that is done of Social Media would never be done to someone's face. Back then, to someone's face was the only way to shit talk to them.

Comparative advertising, as this is called, is actually encouraged by the FTC as long as the comparisons are “clearly identified, truthful, and non-deceptive”. It's not something companies can really be sued over if their comparisons fit that criteria. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparative_advertising

@megayetivsminigreatwhitex6194
@megayetivsminigreatwhitex6194 7 лет назад
too bad grunge didn't just stay in Seattle I think it must have been the infection of the whole country over the course of the 90s by the spread of urban Seattle grunge and gangster rap that eventually killed off the relaxed, lighthearted and bright, styled up 80s sort of girl (and just the whole relaxed, upbeat, fun 80s vibe in general). and the more recent hipster movement seems sometimes as drab and angsty as grunge but sure, go ahead, keep sneering at and mocking the 80s for being so horribly lighthearted and cheesy, but heck, give me cheese! Bring back those fine, styled-up, big-haired girls. At least people didn't seem to be afraid to try and they sure had a hell of a lot of lighthearted fun and a lot less angst and constant offense. They seemed at least a little bit more gentle, trusting, relaxed and upbeat. And, ironically enough, mainstream 80s girls actually seem to have had a lot more variety than the 'unique' hipsters of today, 95% who all look 100% the same, which kinda seems more basic to me.
