These commercials aired on NBC on February 4th, 1984
1. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumper
2. Cabbage Patch Kids Colorforms Playhouse (The only colorforms set I had as a kid was one featuring "The Real Ghostbusters"...which I loved)
3. Nestle Quik
4. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumper
5. Corn Pops (OMG just how many failed animated cereal mascots were there back then? I didn't know Corn Pops ever even had cartoon mascots...let alone a porcupine with a popping suitcase and walrus train conductor)
6. Twirly Curls Barbie
7. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumper
8. SpaghettiOs
9. Happi Returns (That laugh...nightmare fuel)
10. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumper
11. Skill Squares (These look awesome, I should get one for my desk at work)
12. Hershey's Kisses
13. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumper
14. McDonald's
15. Promo for "Eight Is Enough"
16. Choco Crunch (Wow, an epic animated cereal ad)
17. M&M's
18. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumpers
19. McDonald's
20. Colgate
21. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumper
22. Pigs In Space for Atari 2600 (As someone who is interested in both The Muppets and old video games...I had no idea this game existed)
23. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumper
24. Superman Hot Cocoa Mix (Nice animation, though I had to look up who "Captain Cold" was)
25. Cookie Crisp (Keep in mind this is three years AFTER they introduced the Cookie Crook...who eventually replaced this wizard character entirely)
26. Capri Sun
27. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumpers
28. Sorcerer's Apprentice for Atari 2600 (Never heard of this one either. I guess it makes sense as the video game crash was in full force and Atari was in serious financial trouble at this point)
29. Campbell's Soup
30. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumper
31. Frosted Flakes (With Free Diving Submarine and Rescue Boat! Wait, Frosted Flakes had two villains out to steal it's "formula"?)
32. Poochie (Dear Granddaughter, we're all worried about your obsession with this stuffed animal)
33. A1
34. "Smurfs" End Credits
35. One To Grow On Intro (With Dwight Schultz)

This is THE cleanest looking collection of '80's Saturday Morning Commercials I've seen on RU-vid. Bar None. Excellent Work! I especially enjoyed the "liner notes". Made me feel lucky to be an '80's kid!

Good old commercials. Man, what memories of sitting in front of the t.v. on Saturday morning, in my pajamas, eating cereal and getting freaked out by the Campbell's Kids. They are still creepy.

Looking at these commercials is such a nostalgic trip. I almost forgot Corn Pops had that porcupine mascot, I had that Pigs In Space for the 2600, I remember the Vanilla Cookie Crisp (prefer that than Chocolate Chip) and Choco Crunch sucked ass. Thanks for posting these wonderful memories. I've been looking at these priceless memories for almost a week now (Tic, tic, tic, tic, tic, tac, toes, yeah, still loving that jingle!)

I had that "Sorcerer's Apprentice" Atari 2600 game. It was actually very good. Like most 2600 gamnes, it was basically an arcade "high score tally" game.

The interesting part about watching this video is that I actually had McDonald's cheeseburgers for dinner tonight. Also, speaking from real-live experience, it is true that you can't have cookies for breakfast. Ice cream, on the other hand, is acceptable on certain occasions.

Ah,Colorforms. I remember those. My first Colorforms set was He-Man, but I also had some random Marvel and DC ones.

Lorenzo Holmes Yeah, I loved that too. The fact they thought of putting in different lower body stickers so you could pose them different ways was awesome.

This volume is so 1984! This is around the time where Saturday Morning cartoons started to get a lot more cooler! I remember the next year (84-85) of Saturday Morning was bummer for me because Muppet Babies first aired the same time The Smurfs would air on NBC. ABC was probably my least favorite around this time for they had very few cartoons that caught my interest.
@LadyHawke78

Yeah, I would have been around 5 years old when these aired. I remember Smurfs, and Muppet Babies... but I wonder if anyone remembers the trippy, short lived cartoon from around this time called “KIDD VIDEO...” (It’s REALLY weird. But gave me so much nostalgia.)

Never knew Frosted Flakes had the diving submarine premium. I recall Cap'n Crunch did in the late 70s. It looks a little different, though. I could never get used to eating SpagettiOs nor RavioliOs. The sauce just had a weird taste. The only thing I could eat was Chef Boyardee Ravioli.

Those Quick kids were so polite - I know so many that would’ve turned the game off and grabbed the remote after an x amount of time!

Colorforms! I think every toy line had been represented by this time. The Cookie Crisp Wizard had to be voiced by Lennie Weinrib, of Scrappy-Doo fame. They aired that M&M's commercial for years, glad to see it again.

wow i wonder just how many bottles of A1 did they go through in that "Steakburgers" ad lol Happi Returns..if The Asylum had existed back then this wouldve been the perfect title for their "mockbuster" of the Chlild's Play films those"One To Grow On" PSAs..i seem to remember the ones w/ Mr T and Dwight Schultz.,didnt ALF,Michael J Fox and Don Johnson (or was it Phillip M Thomas)each do one as well?

I can remember that version of the NBC jingle. I also remember the words "NBC there, be there". The other one was a few years earlier with the words "NBC proud as a peacock". There are a lot of things I remember in the 1980's, but not most of what is in this volume.

Wow, that Colorform commercial briefly showed a boy Cabbage Patch Kid wearing women's clothing. Quite provocative for 1984... And that Happi Returns toy...Dear God, that's downright terrifying. Not just the laugh, but the very appearance of the doll is like something out of a killer toy horror film. And seriously, when I hear Poochie, all I can think of is The Simpsons.

The so-called "video game crash" that everyone talks about was not in the least bit perceptible to kids at the time.
@80sCommercialVault
@80sCommercialVault Год назад
At the time this aired the effects of the crash had not fully taken hold. Starting around late 1984/early 85 you would have noticed that major retailers such as Sears or Toys R Us had video games/consoles on major clearances with much less shelf space devoted to them and that video games were essentially no longer advertised on TV. It's also worth noting that Atari was still an independent company in early 1984 and had not been sold off to Jack Tramiel yet. Whether a kid would have noticed all of this at the time is up for debate, but there was certainly a void in the marketplace from 1985-1986 when the NES began to get popular and revive the industry.
