My heaven would be when I pass, I would wake up as a kid in the 80s in my bedroom looking around on Saturday morning wondering when my friends were coming over to play later after I watched my cartoons.

@@chegadesuadebrother today kids aren't the kids we where. We had imagination and actually got to be a kid. Staying out till dark the cartoons the lifestye. Now cellphones and looking down all day is the norm. Kids today are small adults. They missed out on a good childhood like we had. So sad .

mikel carrow You speak the truth man, in the late 80s my friends used to make fun of me if I ever wanted to stay inside. We were either biking around the town or trekking around backyards playing games with our imaginations. We spent only a few hours watching cartoons, and that was the only media we needed. Kids today have no imagination and no motivation, I feel sorry for today's generation.

I was very young at this time, but I strongly remember the Atari vs. Intellivision War. Then Colleco Vision came along, and things really started to blow up for a little while, until the home gaming market crashed. We were lucky enough to have both Atari and Intellivision in our house, but it was mostly my older brother who played it. Then I got a NES for Christmas in 87, and I was hooked for life. Still collect retro games for the NES and SNES to this day.

Pizza Hut was a great sit-down family restaurant, not to mention DELICIOUS in the 80s/90s. It is very different today, sadly.
@chegadesuade
@chegadesuade 6 лет назад
Spam Man I do remember them having delicious pizza in the 90s, I loved their crispy pepperoni and the personal pan pizza. I never experienced it as a sit-down family restaurant, I would've liked to see that. Seems like everything was better in the 80s/90s, that's why we're all here watching these old commercials and reminiscing.
@spamman6369
@spamman6369 6 лет назад
My family used to sit down at Pizza Hut fairly often. I have fond memories there! We'd order a pizza or two, a big pitcher of Mountain Dew, and we would play PacMan or whatever arcade game cabinet they had while we waited for our pizza to arrive!
@chegadesuade
@chegadesuade 6 лет назад
Spam Man That was such an excellent description you gave, I feel like I just experienced the old Pizza Hut. And the old arcade games at restaurants, I'll always miss that. I'll never forget begging my parents for quarters and running over to the machines right after placing our orders, it didn't matter that the joysticks were always greasy. I can't help feeling that modern technological convenience has taken away all of our important social meeting places, like sit-down restaurants and arcades.

I was born in 1975, and these ads feel bittersweet to me. I remember when going to Pizza Hut for a sit-down meal was a big deal. My family had a Lincoln Continental, a real boat car, that felt so luxurious, and I could sleep in the back seat like a princess back in the day. I had the first Atari on the market, and brought friends over to play after school. My mom would bake us cookies full of gluten, refined sugar, and lots of love. And she made me do my homework when my friends went home. No matter how much I tried to argue. We had problems, but we still felt optimistic about the future, because the 80s were nothing if not optimistic. No, my childhood wasn't all rainbows and unicorns, but they were special nonetheless. I'm a gen-x 80s kid, and, for me, those were the good old days. Probably the happiest days of my life. But the 80s raised me to face the future with optimism and determination. I try to keep that spirit alive and do that every day. But, man, sometimes, I really do miss those days ❤💗💝.

80sCommercialVault: That’s true. I’ve often said that a lot of movies that are rated PG-13 today have more violence in them than the R-rated movies of yesteryear.
@80sCommercialVault
@80sCommercialVault 6 лет назад
??? PG-13 movies today are tame by comparison. Most of them would have been rated PG back then. The 70's and 80's were probably the height of explicit content in cinema, from violence, to nudity to profanity. The PG-13 rating has led to everything being watered down to appeal to the maximum number of people.

Remember when businesses could have "cash only" sales? When paying with cash actually meant you were paying for it? If you decided to not include credit customers during a sale nowadays, youd might as well not even have the sale. Sad but true.
@PurpleSilk
@PurpleSilk 6 лет назад
Steely Cent because a lot of people don’t like to carry tons of cash on them. They get killed and robbed for it. But there’s still some stores that do cash only sales. It’s a rarity but they have the chance to cater to certain customers who am very well be old school.
@Gregoose33
@Gregoose33 6 лет назад
Veronica Williams its just more of a product of people using credit to purchase it. Credit cards were charging retailers big fees too...so it benefitted the store to receive cash as payment. Now stores just drive up the price because an overwhelming percentage of people make larger purchases like carpet with credit anymore. Whether they pay it or not...its almost like its not a virtue to be able to pay for something debt free anymore.
