These commercials aired on WABC on July 26th, 1983. Thanks to Meredith_Vintage for the recording.

4. Carvel Ice Cream (WOW, the Carvel Ice Cream guy giving us a history lesson!)

6. Snapple (This was when they were still a local New York based brand and four years before they started selling Iced Tea)

7. S.M. Rose Chevrolet (There's something incredibly awkward about the car door slam at 3:11)
8. Just Shirts (I'm not sure if it's possible for a commercial to get more "New Yawk" than this)

"Little Shop Of Horrors" at The Orpheum Theater (Though it did not initially open there, the off-Broadway run at the Orpheum theater was where it achieved renown and ran for five years...one of the longest runs in off-Broadway history. Actress Ellen Greene would reprise her role as Audrey in the 1986 film adaptation)

14:20 Omg! I've heard a lot of things about Action Park! It was one of the most dangerous amusement parks in America. It's been the subject on a few RU-vid channels, one of them by Defunctland.

It was kick ass! I bungee jumped there, did the alpine slide and all the water rides. Cannonball was my favorite. The water rides were fun but the water was ice cold. It wasn't all that dangerous really if an idiot like I am and little kids managed to not get hurt then no one should have gotten that fucked up. If you did what they suggested you could easily survive a day at Action Park. Only stupid people who didn't want to follow the suggestions got hurt.

Little Shop of Horrors was such a success Off Broadway that there was talks of bringing it to Broadway, but the show's creators thought the smaller and more intimate Orpheum was a better home. Turns out they were right, because in the early 2000s, there was a big revival on Broadway that bombed, and did not run long. A new revival opened Off Broadway (and is still playing today). I got to see it in November 2019 during one of my theater trips to NY, and it was absolutely wonderful, the best production of the show I've ever seen. I was even sitting a few seats away from Josh Gad (star of The Book of Mormon on Broadway, and the voice of Olaf in the Frozen movies.) Definitely go see the new production if you get a chance. The cast is different now than from when I saw it, but I'm sure the production is just as wonderful, and it really does feel at home in a small Off Broadway theater.

I highly recommend the documentary "Class Action Park" on HBO Max. Action Park was the wildest water park on Earth. It could only happen in the '80s.

That stroller commercial uh wow I have some things to say. Firstly it makes me anxious at the idea of the SO EASY TO SNAP BACK going off by itself while a child is in there. Then during the "Don't get left in the dust girl!" I thought the baby was like squirming around in the background on their back in distress and had to look back but no I guess they're just... twerking or something. Also shoutouts to that "friend" who I guess just got on the bus without helping her and no one said anything to the driver about the mother on their butt in trouble who was like "OH HELL NAWW I'M NOT WAITING FOR THE LONE STRUGGLING MOTHER WE GOT A TIGHT SCHEDULE HERE VROOOOM!!!"

This was summer and I was 16 years old so I may or may not have been watching this when it actually aired since I could stay up late as opposed to school nights...📺🌃 And btw how about S.M. Rose, Coronet, Petland Discounts w/Neil Padron and the Luv Buggy stroller with a New York Bus Service GMC Fishbowl bus making a cameo appearance...😄

More WABC! The "We're Hot" branding was used in the summer of 1983, it had a very 1980s advertisement for it at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wbkptKsvpGg.html WABC would also have mid-break biographies during their late movie presentations featuring an actor or actors from the movie being shown that night! We had that example near the end here. Finally anyone from NJ would tell you that tr(Action) Park would definitely make you "one with the rides" if you survived a day out there without getting hurt (I did in 1993!)
