EDIT : THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR THE SUPPORT AND BRINGING TO MY ATTENTION THE HEADGASKET WAS UPSIDE DOWN. In my rushing and tired state when we filmed this part (4am off of a double shift) i looked over this big thing unfortunately. Thankfully you all came to the rescue and making me realize my mistake. I have another gasket ordered and will be installing the new one CORRECTLY as soon as i get it. For those just watching the video now, I apologize for the incorrect info in that portion of the video where i lay the headgasket down, make sure the headgasket is indicated “UP” and on the right side. Like always, learn from my mistakes, dont make the same ones ! :)
We continue with the build ! This part consists of installing the head using ARP hardware and putting the engine in timing. I did my best to show you step by step how i feel its best to do everything. Let me know what you think in the comments and if this helped you along the way! Subscribe for more content and to see the integra up and running soon!!

There was another article i had read that described it a little better but couldnt find it again. If i come across it once more ill link it as well.

Everyone please read the description. Thankfully we caught the mistake and will be correcting very soon ! Thank you all for the help and seeing my mistake that i overlooked. As always, my main priority is to let you all learn from what little i know, but mainly to not make the same mistakes i do. Ill take this as a chance to try and become more humble to continue learning.

I got a guy living down the street that helps me out when I need it. He worked on nsx's and honda for 16yrs. Dont put rtv on anything that will come in contact with gaskets. If you want to put on rtv so your plug tubes dont get oil in them at least wait until its dry. Don't add rtv then place the gaskets on top because it can ruin the gasket. Honda bond is what he recommends but to each his own.

Thank you 💪 some people swear by it, others dont care. When youre using a thread or torqueing lubricant it isnt as important since theres gonna be less friction with lube equating in less heat/strech of the thing youre torquing... but better safe than sorry, and a good reassurances when torquing cylinderr heads 💪

Did you sleeve the block and do you have a standalone ecu unit You should boost it. Dont just go to any Tuner research and find the best one. With an LS tranny with different 1st and 2nd gears for faster acceleration. It seems like you could be potentially putting down a 300+ with that build.

What you said about "torquing" torque and "break" torque is because of the friction coeficient which comes to be higher when you start, so your friction force will also be higher at first. Make sense that you want "torquing" torque, basically because it's easier to control/measure.

Always install your studs into the block as dry and clean as possible. Reason being is during tourqing the head down you only want the nut to move and not the stud. Many won't take my advice but its how it should be done. Other then that you build awsome crazy engines. Love your channel👍👍👍

You dont have to worry about leveling your engine for cam gear alignment. The markings on the cam gears will only parallel perfectly if they are level.
@MMORPG87

timing belt tension... dont take ALL the slack out. if u do and motor warms up its gonna expand and stretch the belt. u want to keep it at spring tension or a slight bump with your finger to snug it more and thats it.. on cold start you will see belt flop a little.. but once motor it warm its all go away and be smooth even while reving the motor.. tip to know if tension is close is to grab the edges of the belt at the exhuast to crank side(front of motor) and twist belt, up to 90 deg is ok beyond it is to much slack and less than 45 is to tight.

It might not be tightening the timing belt enough because you tightened the 14mm tensioner bolt snug before you turned the crank 3 teeth. Directly from a Integra manual, it say's to leave it loose until its been turned 3 teeth.

Your buddy is right man, coil on plug. Most of us who have built these type of engines are more interested in different than stock parts you're using.... so we already know how to put a dizzy on. Mmmhh. Ive seen plently of ppeople run the h beam to 700/800. If you have the means to upgrade , go for it. If the engines running good no problem then stick with the h beam just dont go too crazy lol i hear the bend right about 800 in some cases

This is the first of yours I've seen and will surely stick around as I could use all the knowledge I can get. I'm beginning to disassemble my y8 and am planning to build for boost. During my research I've come across some ideas new to me: a higher-than-low compression build for boost. What are your thoughts on this? From what I'm reading, it will provide quicker power on low end but I've yet to see it on youtube. This is an interest but so is highway monstering. Any $.02 is greatly appreciated

@Limeayy
@Limeayy 6 лет назад
Also in 4:40, i remember being told not to touch the gasket but i don't remember how he said not to touch it and the reason i would advise not putting your hand in the firing ring of the gasket is because the oil from your hand will rub off on the gasket and apparently if you let the engine run it could cause the gasket to melt or something from the oil from your hand? Not 100% sure if thats true or not but i feel like holding it from the outside is safer. Going back to my statement about not putting your hand in the firing ring, if the oil rubs on near there i mean you're going to get oil going through that portion or very little amounts through the cylinder so I'm not 100% sure how to take this. I know i'm confusing but hopefully someone understands what i'm saying. Too much schools lack the knowledge and letting other students take your time working on something going to screw you over.
@jimhiscott2918
@jimhiscott2918 4 года назад
Very important you answer this for me please. The oil retrictor found in my b18b block restricting oil to the head. Do I not use this when installing my B16 head on to my b18b block?? In some videos I see it in place, on your build I do not. Use it? Or don't use it? Please let me know. I'm at the point of installing my head.

From experience, if you do not put torque to the ARP Head Studs, they have the tendency to back out and can cause you to blow a head gasket.

Thanks man ! Its made by k tuned. 1320 also makes a smilar pulley. I like the k tuned finish more personally. Good adjustable product fairly inexpensive

lindseyhunt1090-GarageB just a heads up I have the k tuned one and it states you have to machine your head to fit.i didn't want to ruin the head or take it off to machine it.so I took my tensioner to work and machined it on the mill just took off enough to clear the head works perfect.

Did you use a vtec water pump and timing belt? Or did you stay with the ls pump and belt

pirate black valve cover? is the paint gonna last? cool vid, thinking what to do with my pirate black mb6 civic (b18c4) since I longer daily it and would need too much to keep going. Probably a swap to EG, maybe b20vtec. I know turbo would be the best bang for the buck for the gsr engine but I kinda like the n/a for road driving

just followed this video to the T with my gsr head after doing a timing belt and water pump, my timing belt seems to be walking into the valve cover and rubbing any tips/advice??
