@@VinterEvig She will never be as good as the breakers of the 80’s but, if her performance can somehow reignite a flame for the art of breakdancing….thats pretty awesome.
Me.... She's an embarrassment to all us Aussies. They sent a woke old af uni professor instead of a 17-25 year old street-pro. I could have walked in Melbourne's CBD 30 minutes and found a better performer to send.
Nah, the dudes at the Olympics were pretty tight. It was the Aussie girl who was a mess. Shit, I tripped out on the Lithuanian girl. She was so smooth!
After seeing this I had to go back to breakdance gospel and rid my soul of such abomination. In the s sacred gospel of breakdance, gods, we find in the book of New York City breakers chapter one verse one its states as following video.
After watching Australia at the olympics I had to find some old school break dancing cus I was sure it looked cooler than whatever the hell i saw in Paris.
@@kdizzystl Only the real ones remember all you needed was a huge boombox and a broke down cardboard box….and 8 D batteries for the boombox! 🤣 Breaking in the 80’s was just too cool- yet, at the time, we had no idea how cool it would become.
I was a street dancer in the Phils...and battle in the street with our linoleum and boom box. I know that we are better than RayGunn moves. We can do backflip, camel back, get-up, flare, head spin, hand Spin, double hand spin, back spin, dolphin kick etc. Im now 57 and still can do robotic and Strutting (pop-lock) moves.
Incorrect. Pretty much *ALL* great works of art are timeless. Michelangelo, Mozart, Michael Jackson… What _is_ rare is a silly fad becoming timeless. Breakdancing wasn’t/isn’t a silly fad. Shuffle-dancing is a silly fad. In fact, shuffle-dancing is even worse than a silly fad. It doesn’t even exist. It’s nothing but the Charleston, re-branded.
He can't do what the other guys are doing, and they can't do what he's doing. It's all style choice and by today's standards Mr. Wave wins. Especially with regard to clothing choice.
@@davec3651 The other guys are redundant, and They're all pretty much like cookie cutters. They're not bringing anything out of the ordinary. Mr Wave is original, and VERY unique! 💯
In the past, your name was given by other people like your crew, friends, etc. which reflects their dance style or personality. Not sure how it's done nowadays.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,” Ephesians 1:13 KJV read the letters of Paul the Apostle to the gentiles (you & I) in these letters are everything God wants us to know for this current time period (Age of Grace). The letters of Paul written to the Church (the Body of Christ) are 13 in total. Starting in traditional order: Romans through Filemon start reading the letter to the Ephesians, Colossians, Philippians, all beautiful short reads full of Wisdom for you and your loved ones. In the letter to Timothy (spiritual son of Paul)Paul instructs him: “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2:1-2 KJV You are that Faithful man who will teach others. “But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.” 2 Thessalonians 2:13-17 KJV Look up Les Feldick on you tube God used that simple man to teach very well. First video I ever saw of his (The two Gospels)I’ll see you guys up there Grace and Peace from God our father and the Lord Jesus Christ
Man....I miss those times and that period. Some of the best years of my life. I was there when breaking and rap was underground. When it went mainstream it was just crazy! Now, its blown up all over the world. It's nice to be able to say I was there when it happened.
I remember this dance style broke out from out of nowhere back in 85. There was no such thing as "viral videos" or social media. It was all VHS tapes. Kids would grab some cardboard to use as a pad and dance during school recess. If you saw a circle of kids in the yard, you know what was going down.
It must be erlier. Here an ussrmovie from 1986 with brakedance ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FA_KZ_6Njg4.html If you take in count how long it takes to make a movie. The movie shooting begun in 1985. And it took time to went through iron curtain. It should be earler than 1985.
For those who don't know, this clip comes from a one-off TV series called "Graffiti Rock" (1984), it resembled elements of Soul Train, but was an entirely original production made in New York City. Soul Train at the time was filmed in Los Angeles. Graffiti Rock only received one episode, this was the pilot episode with the famous New York City Breakers who you see in the clip.
They're the NYC breakers. They're the main crew that battled Rock Steady crew in Beat Street. That movie changed the way I saw hip hop forever and I wasn't even born until 1989. I watched this for the first time when I was like 13...
@@ajvandelay8318 words like “sick”, “gnarly”, and “bad” being used as a positive has been happening since the 80s and was started by Gen X, not by millennials who were babies at the time.
unless you actually lived and experienced this stuff duing the early 80's, you'll never understand how exciting and phenomenal this era of hip hop was...
It just looks so cool. Ghettoblaster, cassettes, Beat Street, the Bronx, the music, LL Cool J, Erik B. and Rakim, clubs and discotheques everywhere, it was just a really great time
People say the same thing for every Era for that Era of music. Imma be telling my kids about how crazy festivals were in the Era of edm I was involved with lol
Everything was so crisp and dialed in back then. You can tell how they helped to progress and develop the styles we still have today. Shoutout to Rock Steady crew.
It’s not a culture thing anymore that’s why they suck. this started in the streets of New York by blacks and Puerto Ricans. They sent whites who have no culture in break dancing. this is the results don’t care if your white sorry it’s the facts
Attention DJs...notice the flawless backspinning of those records? Fun Fact: Breakdancing got its name from dancing performed during the DJ's backspinning of the breaks in songs, creating loops to extend the breaks.
I was born in 05’ but oh man, I wish I was born in the 70’s so I could witness all the real Hip Hop and see the origins of breakdancing. To see DJ Kool Herc at the parties scratching on his vinyls. I just wish that I was born back then to witness to birth of Hip Hop cause that’s where my heart and mind belongs, even though I’m 14 years old right now and most people at my age don’t even appreciate or listen to real Old School Hip Hop
All the Dancers are Amazing but Mr. Wave Dance was on Another Level Really!, I Remember my School Collage Days when I was Doing So many B Boying Moves Like Windmill, Flair, Cricket, V Kick and many more....What a Days i Really miss Those days....!😅🤔😍🤩
So influencial. Grew up on the South coast of England and strarted popping around this time. Mr Wave was an idol. Still awesome by today's standards. Respect to legendary UK Bboys Second To None! 🤘
Had to come back to this to get the after watching the Australian woman breakdance in the Olympics. Needed to remind myself of what breakdancing looks like
One of the best old school breakdance videos. Thanks for that! I was in the 70's/80's a mother of 2 teenagers and enthusiastic about this new dance style. It's fascinating to see what today's kids have done with the old style.
I am grateful to have been a kid in the 80's and to have experienced this! Hard to believe we knew all about this without social media or a cell phone! I still remember when my mom bought my brother and I our first pair of parachute pants! I wish we had a time machine.
I watched this show when it aired in L.A. and recorded it on VHS. Me and my brother watched it over and over and were in awe of seeing real NY hip hop at that time.
I'd say they're smoother, but the moved they use seem all the same. All windmills, swipes and backspins, although I did like the multiple kinds of no handed versions and the cool hand glide. His arm was really firm and steady
My little brother and I used to get the tape and cardboard in the carport at our old school brick house in break right there in the driveway and my mom and dad would trip with the loud music blasting on our tape cassette player. Boom box.
play at your own risk,...planet patrol, newcleus and jonzun crew were all over when you visited the states in the 80ies and got in touch with breakdance for the first time.brings back memories 😃
America needs to go back to its roots, we created this shit but we’re losing in modern competitions smh. Imagine this crew against any of the breakdancing olympians and it’s no debate.
Man, this was back in my era when we were all trying to be good Breakdancers(80's). These guys here would have been considered top notch without question. That stuff those guys are doing now practically defies the laws of gravity! The art has definitely evolved and I can't imagine what they'll be doing in another 20 years!
New York City Breakers were one of the best crews of the 1980s.Along with Rock Steady Crew and Dynamic Rockers, they led the way in US breakin.Powerful Pexster, Chino ‘Action’ Lopez,Mr Wave, Flip Rock, Lil Lep, Kid Nice, GlideMaster and Icey Ice, were an awesome crew. The sad thing is that a few months after this,Glidemaster was killed in a motorcycle accident, and the crew spilt up,probably as a mark of respect for a fallen brother. What’s also sad is that Rock Steady’s Crazy Legs, never seemed to give crews like this any credit. The challenge they had in BEATSTREET was watered down, and for the film New York City Breakers used the actor,Robert Taylor,as Lee,replacing Icey Ice.In reality this would never have happened but Lee was part of the story.I would loved to have seen a proper battle between Rock Steady Crew and New York City Breakers. That would have been a proper showdown.
Evolved? Nah. Most top 10 dancers on a modern breaking competition stage at the international competition can't actually pull some of those moves off... nevermind progressing on top of it. Are you even watching? i was sort of blown away. Putting the moves together has gone to another level .. or maybe the awkarndess of the producer is removed but otherwise the moves have not been surpassed...
Which moves? Basic windmills? Swipes? Backspins? All of these are basic power moves. I don't think you have ever seen the creativity of newer generation. Breaking has evolved a lot since then.
It still is in a way. It's just that DJ's are more freelance today even though they might have a main artist they work with. Gucci - Zaytoven 21 Savage - Metro Booming Playboy Cardio - Pierre Bourne
Modern breakdancers do more complex moves but they all kind of look the same - but the OG NYC breakers had SO MUCH style and flavor. Loved this! Mr. Wave so nice with it!
