This video is so powerful! It’s not even something I can put into words as you’ve said all the right ones. We are allowed contentment. It moves beyond the idea of being allowed by the world at large into just being. We can be contented and happy with who we are and with who everyone else is in their Transition. ❤️
yes, Kayl. Thanks. It's similar to the letting go of that narrative around being "lucky" if our partners stay with us through transition. There's a denial of our inherent worthiness in that approach. We can have gratitude for being with someone who is present with us, who is willing to do their own work, without it being that we are somehow being gifted that (despite who we are). I think this all applies to so many aspects of physical transition, as well. And much of that is based in cis-normative values, which can be challenging to let go of after decades of conditioning...
First, I have to say Haha to your ending..."let's talk down below." Yeppers, that's what we are gonna do! I'm glad you have taken this subject on and I hope you get a good amount of responses because I'm curious. Personally, I got a tiny (miniscule) amount of growth and am sad as I would have liked to get meta. But at my age I'm guessing it wouldn't have been a surgery I could get anyway. I'm trying to be content but my years (as in from dinosaur ages) of dysphoria are kicking my ass. I know I'll get there...maybe..so...one day at a time, Sweet Jesus.
Thanks, Charlie. Yes, one day at a time on all of this. Dysphoria was, for most of my life, a disconnect from myself. It was like there was nobody home. As HRT has brought me changes, I've felt more present. The flip side, is that with that presence, it's easy to slip into the the "not _________ enough" trap. It's like I actually look at myself now, like I care, and want my appearance to better reflect who I am. It's always a challenge to not let the brain/cultural norms, take my joy away.
Hey Stine Great topic. Not transitioned-yet-so no opinion to share. I sense I would agree with you but I have no right to speak to this. Been a Stine fan for all of 3 weeks now but I love ya already and am sincerely most grateful to you and for your vlogs. This is real information and you provide a model one needs to help make informed decisions. I’m up to Sept 2017. You JUST said you wanted to be a middle linebacker. I knew we were like souls! I say that. Not football player-middle linebacker. DE is the only other possibility. You can mezzo-soprano on your own however. Sorry to butt in off-topic but wanted you to hear my thanks. May my appreciation carry you across the shit days when you need a lift. I’ll keep watching and listening and laughing and trying to catch up.
I’m happy that you feel content and happy with your current situation below the belt. I definitely needed to have phalloplasty, personally, but respect everyone’s decisions about their own bodies. 👍🏽🙂
Thanks Kam. I think respect and education is what this is all about. And in having these conversations, we all give voice to (and discover) our individual differences in this process. It's that ol' "There's no one way to transition" thang -- but with a little more illustration of the diversity of how all can we experience this journey...
MIND BLOWING!! This is a great subject to discuss and I appreciate how you phrased it. Once again, we fall in step around our transition and acceptance of ourselves. I can relate to your experience and I am very happy with my growth. Discovering more about myself through this part of the sexual pleasure journey has been life changing. Having non-binary genitalia is such an awesome concept! i think you're on to something, my friend!
Thanks, Jaden. Yes, I like how you phrased that: falling in step with ourselves and self-acceptance. I know a dutch artist up in BC who taught be this phrase: "grow into your feet!" -- for me, transition feels like that. A combination of fully becoming AND becoming more grounded in, who I am.
