Sir, you are far too cheerful. If I were the personnel guy at the Division of Motor Vehicles, and you were looking for work, I would tell you to tear up your employment application. Outside of that glaring weakness, I enjoyed the video. Thank you.

Thank you for your wonderful videos. I have enjoyed watching your journey with the Kubota and all your projects on the homestead. I have learned so much that I can now use on my hobby farm! How nice it is that you have such a wonderful, handy neighbor/friend in Guy. It was fun watching your banter back and forth. Thank you for including us in your life.

That was a great stormy day....I had been in the forest most of that day cutting down trees, limbing and blocking them as well. Wife said to me all of a sudden ‘’ gotta go, big storm rolling in”. Loaded all the gear back in the truck and got out of the woods. As soon as we hit the asphalt, it was raining so hard you could barely see to drive....wind was howling and the whole town lost power!!! She kept saying ‘’we’re under a tornado alert” took an hour to make the normal 10 minute drive to the hotel. Went back to cutting a few hours later, but it was definitely a wild storm.😂

I added a battery disconnect switch from Watson’s Streetworks to my B2601. I have a little button hidden on the tractor that disconnects the battery so the tractor can’t be started until the button is depressed. It’s a security measure to discourage someone from driving off with the tractor. Gives me a little peace of mind. Fun project too.

10 hour maintenance is really quite simple. I am not sure why anyone would not do it. I suspect it will take some time getting used to the new button location after having it the other way for almost a year but I am sure you will get it quick. Stay dry.

Good video. I use the Univer-co grease coupler and really like it. It’s quick connect but no bigger than a regular grease coupler. Also Kubota recommends that the air filter can be washed in mild soap and water up to six times before replacement. I have done it and was amazed at how much fine dirt came out. Thanks for the video.
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 5 лет назад
Hey thanks K. I didn't know that. Was it warm, hot or cold water? And do you think regular dish soap would work or did you use something else? Thanks for the great tip! Let me know. Cheers!
@Kcender57
@Kcender57 5 лет назад
I used warm water and regular dish soap. Not sure if there’s a better way. I rinsed it thoroughly with cold water and shook it out. It takes quite awhile to dry so don’t do it if you are in a hurry to use the tractor. I let it sit for at least overnight. This works good but eventually you have to get a new filter.

Always good to maintain tools and machines! Just a tip, after working as an electrical engineer on Offshore oil equipment I often had my hands full of hydraulic oil. Thats not good for your skin at all! One of the worst oils for your skin, after many years my hands got very dry and teared up. Not that a drop oil every now and then like u do is bad, just mentioning it :) I rarely use gloves when i work, cant stand it. But i have learned to respect hydraulic oil, so thats the only time i use latex gloves. Now after a long time with good cream, my hands are soft like a babybum again :) I see u are very good with safety equipment, have a good one!

Hey good day Oskar! Too funny. When I was younger , my mom would force me to use some ointment on my hands and now I have learned to use gloves. You're right. If I don't use gloves, I end up with grease and dirt in my pores for several days- so hard to get out. Thanks for watching and for saying hi. Hope you are well and talk again on the next one! All the best!!

Nice video GP! I love my lock-n-lube, but I do have the same issue that it doesn't reach to one of my zerks on the mid mount mower because of the size. Oh well, still beats wrestling with a standard grease gun fitting and nearly ripping out those zerks while trying to get it off. My third function buttons came from the dealer facing outwards, so that I can manipulate it with my fingers like a good chimpanzee. You'll love having it set up that way, especially when the cold comes--it'll help keep the blood moving in your digits! See ya 'round :)

Hey Joe! Good to hear. I think it will be better too using my forefingers instead of the 'ol opposable thumb. LOL. Cheers! Have a good one!

You can buy zirk fittings on Amazon, and come in ap ton of angles, which will make greasing a breeze. Also, some of the kits come with brass, and some other metal. Brass is softer, and has less problems for leakage. Just dont overtighten them.

I noticed your backwards 3rd function as well. The one on my B2601 has the buttons to the front, Much easier to use then with the buttons on the rear

How many hours on your tractor now? Mine is at 405. I'm going to do the 400 hour service tomorrow or Monday. Lots of filters and hydraulic fluid. The 2601 is going strong. Only complaint is the rubber floor mat ripped on the left side. That floor mat is pretty cheap made. If I get a replacement, I'm going to cut off a couple of the knobby deals that stick through the holes and put a couple of carriage bolts in their place on each side. I dig your videos. You have talent with a camera and always put out good information.
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 6 лет назад
Hey thanks so much David! Thats really nice of you to say. I have a little under 100 but I always try to keep the 10 hour maintenance. These things are not cheap so I want to make sure it will last. Happy you enjoy them. I learn something new every time I fire it up! Be well and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Joining the conversation late, curious about how you got the pto running while not seated. Is the trick to lift the seat before engaging the pto? So basically follow the instructions in the manual but add the seat lift before engaging pto? Learning every day...Ian
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 5 лет назад
Good morning Ian! You got it. Figured out that section of my manual was incorrect. Just lift before engaging. I think I talk about it in video 82. Was funny because I kept trying it over and over following the manual and scratching my head, then my neighbour came by and tried lifting the seat and it worked. Cheers!
@ianq0101
@ianq0101 5 лет назад
@@GPOutdoors Excellent, will give it a try next time I have the tractor out. My salesman was insistent the only way to get it to work was to add weight to the seat to fool the switch. As I am one of those strange creatures who reads manuals cover to cover, I had found the instructions in the manual and sent it off to my salesman. Will have to send him the corrections.
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 5 лет назад
LOL. That is kind of funny I think. He should know how it works. Kind f surprised at his answer ( but not judging... but still pretty humorous) I spoke with my dealer and after they called Kubota Canada, they confirmed that the section of the manual is incorrect. You start it, keep it in neutral and keep the parking brake engaged, get off the seat and lift it (you will see there is a 2 position switch under there and by lifting the seat, the switch pops up telling the tractor that it is safe to allow the PTO to engage). Then you engage the PTO, and increase your throttle as normal to run it. If you drop the seat back down you will see it shuts the tractor off. The reason my neighbour knew to lift the seat is that is what he has to do on his 14 year old L3400. :)) All the best Ian!

Hey good evening Laurie. Thanks - I follow the wonderful couple from the east coast for sure. Fire Extinguisher-? I don't, to be honest but now that you mention it, I have to think about that. Might be a good idea. I have them in the cabin but not on the tractor. I need to think about that- thanks! All the best!

GP Outdoors I put one on my JD1025. Many years ago my late father was fuelling up his new chainsaw, he splashed gas on it and poof it was in flames and nothing he could do put roll it around and try to put out the flames. He did get the fire out only to have to buy half a saw in parts to make it usable again. My extinguisher is not that big but it's mounted on the roll bar and I hope I never need it for the tractor or saw back in the wood. 👍
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 5 лет назад
Good morning Laurie. That makes sense to me and I can see it mounted on the ROPS too. Especially given I am in the forest a lot and you are right, if something happened, I would have nothing to help me out there. Thanks for sharing the story. That now makes it clear for me - I should get one. Hey, did you weld a bracket on the ROPs or how did you attach it securely?
@MichaelPMc
@MichaelPMc 5 лет назад
I mounted a extinguisher to my rops on the inside left side of my B2601, I used zip ties and its not moved .
