I'd like to preface that the term "Eighty-Six" is last-century English slang for: "no longer available", "to throw out/dispose of", "to reject", "to refuse service to", which makes even the title of this LN/anime series very metaphorical and thematic. It's a term sometimes used by the world-infamous chef Gordon Ramsay, when throwing away unneeded food items/ingredients. It's a term used by the mafia as a guideline to dispose of bodies: "8 miles out, 6 feet deep". It's even used in engineering, coincidentally, as a designation. In ANSI (American National Standards Institute), electronic devices marked with #86 have a shutdown mechanism in case said device goes haywire.

f***ing glory to spearhead squadron!!! i really love the directions, transition, symbolism of this anime. truly one of the best anime adaptation out there! you mentioned that they are like children, well... in this episode they're like aged 13/14 to 18/19

This is by far one of my Favorite shows. It is rare that a show can still have seeing so many times still evoke the kind of emotional reaction this show can.

86 is one of my favorite shows in just how well directed it is. Also has some great sound design, as well as another excellent Sawano score. Also fun side fact: two of the VAs for Bocchi the Rock, Yoshino Aoyama (the VA for Bocchi) and Sayumi Suzushiro (VA for Nijika) met each other for the first time through 86 lol. Ikumi Hasegawa (VA of Kita in Bocchi) also worked on 86 as the main character, Vladilena.

Fuckin YES. So glad this is what won. Then you'll have covered all 3 shows of my golden trio, AoT, Vinland, 86. Show's so god damn good.

omg. 86 is an amazing show. this one will be a perfect show for you guys. please take close note of the dates, this show time jumps around; narratively it's coherent if you miss it... but... it's important to keep an eye on the dates.

Y'all I can't even tell you how excited I am for you to get to the end of this season. Really good show with one of the best finales I have ever seen...period. EDIT: "WHOA MAGIC!!!" got a big laugh out of me. So excited.

The thing I find unique about this show is how they get you attached to characters. Typically, you’ll see characters with little screen time dying and you don’t think much of it, but the first episode only shows a few quick scenes of a character who dies a few moments later, and because of the detail on personality, humanity, and reality, you almost instantly become attached and empathetic toward him. They’re first shown looking like a family and that’s what made me hurt so much when the first guy died. You know he’ll be missed and you felt his fear when having to leave that family.

86 is such an amazing show, so happy to see another reaction channel watching it!

Can't wait for them to meet a certain character. But seriously this show is top tier stuff. We had a few production problems along the way but that's water under the bridge for what they delivered. Props to A1 pictures for delivering another banger show. I don't know how long the source material is but I hope we get a new season announced.

I am glad both of you have started this anime journey, dates in this series are important and play a crucial part for the story line. A bit of context, it is an light novel series written by a female author. Her name is Asato Asato. 86 is split up into two cours covering light novel vol 1 - 3. Currently, the LN has reach 13 volumes to date. The novel was suppose to end in one volume. It was submitted into a light novel competition and it won the golden award or 1st prize. With the encouragement of the publishers director of that competition, the author continue the storyline. The author formulate the concept of this story when she was around middle school in Japan. As a hardcore 86 light novel reader, I do hope you will enjoy this series!

The mechs (Juggernaughts) that are provided to the characters are not exactly top-of-the-line technology. They are pretty much the bare minimum needed to fight. This tells us a lot about the government of San Magnolia.

Let's gooooo. This series is probably my favourite anime/light novel of all time. Hope you enjoy it and hope Ben is doing better. Keep up the good work, fellas

F***ing glory to spearhead squadron!! 86 has become one of my top 10 animes of all times. Direction is masterfull. Dialog, storytelling is on point. As a History buff I LOVE the historical references that the author base the story. The soundtrack is one of the best I've ever heard. I'm still listen to regulary in my phone.

Some terminology for some context - Gran Mur - think of it like the great wall of China surrounding the country Republic of San Magnolia - made up of 85 districts protected by the Gran Mur with the 86 or district 86 located outside of the wall - country size of San Magnolia is roughly the size of UK in real life Giadian Empire - aka Empire Eastern district - So call the Eastern front - context from WW2 - sending you to the eastern front means sending you to death Unit Liveries - the scene which Shin is seen taking out of the juggernaut , it is a set of comprehensive insignia comprising color, graphic, and typographical identifiers - like a military dog tag - as you have notice - none of the 86 have it because as it is reported - "there are no casualties" Glad that you are having a blast!
