Wow! Ive learned a lot from your channel. its been fun we have some stuff in common, so its nice to see you took it to the next level in performance building. love your work. My first motorcycle age 7, Honda Cb50? folding handlebars with balloon tires, my parents bought from my Great Uncle. Then an XR75, and later about a 76"-78'? Honda Elsinore CR 125 that had an FMF head and pipe on it with a full Dan Gurney sprocket set. The Elsinore also had a reed upgrade, I think Toomey or M. Smith? I ate up a lot of RM250 back then believe it or not in/around the Carona _ Lake Elsinore _ Hemet area, back when you could pull off the freeway and unload and shoot out into desert hills. Thanks to your old stories you have brought up a lot of my younger life as well as schooling me.
Rocky Mountain chainsaws and CPI Pipes love it when someone use the pipe the way it should be. I would know Rocky Mountain chainsaws and I just watched to together. They are very happy you like it
Be scared to fell with her, darn thing pull the tree off the stump haha, I'm workin on what we talked about bud, I'm thoroughly excited how once you get it you get it and to have someone like you willing to share freely the years of knowledge with us
i think the combo you have produced is a excellent product and is going to be even better once you start porting. id like to know how its going to work for a professional guy but seems like your really on to something with this guy.
@@theironhorse6600 going to be really badass after you port 🏁🏁 pipe looks like my YZ250 race bike pipe bluing up 😃 recommend wiping it down with rag and wd or any lubricanting oil cause unfinished pipes will rust quick. I always used them on my bikes spent alot of time keeping pipes looking good lol . The nickel plated ones or stock are way less maintenance 😆 but ya buddy I like that saw there 🏁🏁✊✊
I’m assuming the stinger is on the inside of the rear cone? Be interesting to know how long and what diameter and what messing with those two measurements might do to change how and where it comes on. She sounds like it’s tuned pretty good right now!👍🏻💪🏻🇺🇸
The length of the expansion chamber determinates where it comes on. The dimensions of the stinger determinates how hard it will charge the cylinder. More restriction equals more power but to much restriction will overheat the engine. It's a very fine line between max power and overheating.
I read the old 2 stroke scooters often used a straight megaphone/cone style expansion pipe because it provided the most benefit/power at wide open throttle since they're rode at WOT most of the time.....And that dirt bikes use a curvy shaped expansion pipe for added power throughout the whole throttle range, plus ground clearance. They could easily build 2 stroke dirt bikes with a scrambler style straight expansion pipe. That'd have plenty of ground clearance but would only mainly benefit when hitting WOT....I see some scooter pipes that are mostly straight with some slight bends & curves. I'm not sure if it's only for clearance issues. Or if they're trying to make the pipe create a bit of mid range power without taking too much away from WOT.
No, I don't think so. What I have read (Gordon Jennings) is they use the megaphone style exhaust before the curvy expansion pipe, with the reflection cone, was invented (in East Germany). The megaphone did give more power than a straight pipe but the addition of the reflection cone was superior in every way to only a megaphone. How steep the angle of the reflection cone is determinates how broad the rpm range the resonator pipe will work in. Steep angle = strong reflection pulse / narrow power band. And resonator pipe usually use a stinger pipe (which is missing or hidden inside on the resonator pipe in this vid) the diameter and length determines how strong the pipe will supercharge the engine, more restriction = more power -until the engine overheats.
Curious to know how the return impulse on the exhaust works on such a small cc engine at high RPM. I would think the pipe was too large and too long to give the right impulse. Just my thought.
Very impressive. I wonder how it'd fair against a McCulloch Pro Mac 850 if they both ran 36" bars! Definitely a chainsaw to test your ear protection with :) Nice job, brother!
Harv, glad to see that ton of Work and Thoughts running like a Beast. How many Hours did you spend in Thinking and Building? Did you tell the Numbers? May i forgot them. Appreciate your Work, that is a something i would like to have in my Hands. But Germany is to far away . I would like to see her in Hardwood, cause we have almost Hardwood around here to feed our Stoves. I‘m hungry for more of your Builds! Stay healty and have fun at Sawfest.
Possibly a silly question because I feel like it answers itself...but do you think that pipe will hang with that saw once it's ported or is the added airflow going to be too much for the pipe?
@@theironhorse6600 OK! That makes sense! I've been playing around with that in my race snowmobile! Thanks young man. Keep up the great content. I have my stihl 064 Ebay saw up and running. Love it!
Holy chit! Wicked Harv! Wonder what that motor would do in a little pit bike or one of those little ice chest go kart rigs! That will peel ur muffin cap back! Mint👌
I need help with my grandpa’s pioneer P60. The crank was broken on the clutch side and was welded up and repaired. I don’t think it will last very long though. I would love to get a different crank for it but, as you know, I can’t just get a new one. If you could help me locate one I would greatly appreciate the help! Thank you for sharing your knowledge threw RU-vid.
I'm commenting at the same time as watching, but why is there no stinger on the pipe? You most likely will get even better performance with a stinger on the pipe Cheers from Sweden
@@theironhorse6600 when the 86cc 372 all done with porting you send all your numbers to cpi to build the pipe for that saw it will just blow your mind with the gains
