8s Kraton or X-Maxx - Which RC Car should you buy? 

I don’t have the Kraton but I prefer how the x maxx looks

Looking at the facts overall as someone new to RC for me the X Maxx is the one I would choose parts prices is one reason and reliability is another one and I prefer the X Maxx shape but that’s my limited opinion

You just have to put the same center diff oil in the Arrma as the Traxxas and it will wheelie and be just as crazy as the Xmaxx 👍 I got a Kraton 6s as my first truck and LOVE it!

I got the xmaxx after wanting one for years. I would probably get a Kraton if it was cheap enough.

Get the x-maxx it is more durable and can be configured to run multiple types of courses were the Kraton cannot.

They're both pretty neat, but I still prefer sc or trophy style trucks for my bashing, and I want something like the 5t for something that is really big, etc. (just my personal preference), although I still like the idea of an Xmaxx one day. Also, I need a (or maybe some) crawler(s) in my life, lol.

Well put I agree with your assessment, Tris Lansdown he is not hating it he just prefers the X MAXX, me I would buy the Kraton because I am not a monster truck guy and I don't take my vehicles out and hard bash them, I have the UDR and the Super Baja Rey clone whih is better than the LOSI, other than that I have a fleet of gas trucks and buggies and prefer them and I drive them hard but do not abuse them as they cost a lot of money.

Arrma should done something different with there bullet aluminium bottom . But oh well

I have a bsd prime onslaught which has been upgraded with a goolrc 4300kv motor 60a esc whatever they are , I have a 3300mah nimh overlander tornado battery fully charged no jokes it lasted about 2 minutes the motor sais it can take 2-3s Lipo battery it that why my nimh battery is draining so fast?

X maxx for me I thought the chassis wouldn't bend but until there is a m2c or something I'm not buying it

Love the xmaxx but i think the Kraton is probably better as most people say it doesn't break as much. I only had my xmaxx a few minutes and the pinion came off, then after driving it into a tree the lower suspension arm broke too. Am i doing something wrong :/

I’m an Arrma Kraton guy. I got an Xmaxx in a trade and it’s has been a solid truck. I’m in no hurry to buy the 8s Kraton. On a side note all these fan boys are getting old. These are two good 8s options Pick your poison ☠️

From the videos i have seen so far, the X-Maxx seems to go over the terrain smoother, might be an illusion. Also might be bias from an X-Maxx owner.

I only got my X-Maxx like 3 months ago! It still has a lot of original parts! How cant i justify getting a 8s Kraton as well?? The X-Maxx is a kite on wheels, pure bashing and jumping fun.

Great comparison on the chassis parts cost. Staggered that in the UK the Kraton weighs in at....$371 more than the $899 it's selling for here. That's unreal! Gotta be a joke about 'dem arms somewhere in there. You've convinced me to get the Xmaxx. Broke a cup on my 4S maxx at the weekend.....huge cost to replace it.......$6 for a pair!!!! The comparison you did will help people make a decision way better than just filming them side by side on the bench. Gives me food for thought for future videos. One of your best comparison ones to date. Anyone else love the format?

Tbh I still say the xmaxx is the king because of the durability of it. I like that arrma is at least getting Traxxas to do more with their rc’s. But I still say the xmaxx is best

I finally bought an Xmaxx I love it. It’s good out of the box in my opinion. My Kraton 6s was good too but needed heavier center diff oil and the steering servo is awful.

Respect the honesty fella. IMO the Kraton just looks baaddaass, also its a brand new platform, mechanical & electrics where as the Xmaxx is old car. I would not replace chassis with Stock if or when needed, I would replace with custom chassis on Kraton, gear it up & Boom 💪 👊 🔥 🔥 WINNER. "That being said, as long as your enjoying yourself, doesn't matter what you own , how much money you have, as long as your happy"

X Maxx does it all in my opinion, and is still unrivalled. Built like a tank and actually worth the money despite the premium price tag. The Kraton 8s is just too expensive, it should be around the £800 mark. You could buy two premium Arrma Bashers and still have £100 in your pocket to spend for the price of the new Kraton.

I prefer the arrma waiting on rpm, voltage hobbies, just bash it rc or hr to jump all over this truck with upgrades

The choice is simple Kraton -durable diff ring gear -great speed controller -body shell stays on -great on the track X-Maxx -it can go to the moon

Emaxx or Rustler VXL gang. If you own one tell me the mods. My rustler runs all rpm a arms, shock towers, steel drive shafts, 6s setup, proline trenchers LP, proline sand paws, and a battery tray expansion kit. Emaxx has 8 new shocks, erevo 2.0 tires, steel rollcage, rpm bulkheads, steel traxxas driveshafts, and will have a Hobbywing Max8 motor and esc soon.

If you can gear up the 1/5 kraton won’t it be easier to bend the Chasity? They should of just want plastic being that long and heavier

Great video! It's not just the cost of parts but also the availability. I made the mistake of getting a yeti XL. It's a great truck and I love it but now parts in Australia are almost non existent as it's a discontinued model. I don't want it to become a shelf queen but I am scared about breaking it now. My slash 4x4 on the other hand parts are a dime a dozen and can be found everywhere.

Went ahead and upgraded a few needed areas for reliability and performance. I was going to buy a keystone today just to have another dynamic. But, this video convinced me it’s not worth it. The XMaXX is supreme in my opinion. Especially if you aren’t tracking your truck/truggy on the regular. Thanks

I'm keen to see if Traxxas bring out a new rc like the xmaxx or just bring out a new upgraded version of the 8s Xmaxx(maybe 12s🤷‍♂️🤞).

Imagine 8s notorious or outcast 1/5 scale i would die to get one though even though i only use rc drift car hehhee

I broke a cup on my 6S outcast 3 minutes into my last bash session with it. Landed relatively hard on a left or right (can't recall which) rear arm. Also bent the hinge pin and destroyed both hinge pin retainers. First one in the year and 4 months I've had it. My biggest issue with the 6S line of arrma's are the diff ring/pinion. The input pinion is just too stinking small (too many revolutions per revolution of the ring gear) and teeth are too shallow for what's asked of them. I'm on my 5th or 6th diff. Hope the 8S stuff holds up better for those that have the truck.

I bought an Arrma Senton 4x4 a few months back and have beat the holy hell out of it at a skate parks and only broke one A arm so far. so I decided to buy a Traxxas rustler vlx 4x4 and that thing has been the biggest pile of shit ever!! it breaks just setting it on the ground LOL

Xmaxx is still KING!! 👑 I think a trip to the moon with the kraton would result in structural failure on re-entry 💥

X maxx for sure parts are cheaper and wayyy higher quality and more durable. I would even choose the xmaxx over the kraton if the xmaxx was 1000 pounds and the kraton was 600 pounds i would still choose x maxx.

I just bought a new XMAXX. I had the K8s on pre-order but I cancelled, The main reason I did not buy the Kraton 8s is because last time I placed a pre-order for the Arrma Typhon 3s it took Arrma 6 months or longer to even have parts available for the vehicle once I had it. And I was told the Arrma is on a promo price right now of $899 but will go up to $999 after the pre-orders are shipped.

I like the Kraton. I just adjusted the shocks so it would stand as high as possible.

After running a few battery packs through the xmaxx 8s Kraton 8s and Outcast 8s I can definitely say that the xmaxx is more forgiving when it comes to bad landings. I jump my rigs 12-15 ft off my ramps into grass and dirt. I've broken a couple of wing mounts and two sets of bolts that hold the steering knuckle to the steering links on both 8s Arrma trucks. Also the Kraton is so much heavier than the O8S that it also bends the driveshafts easily like a banana on bad landings. I'm actually going to sell the K8S for that reason alone. The Outcast is staying to play with the xmaxx.

Ok I lost the fight... I'm not a fan boy of either brand, but parts are cheaper for the X-Maxx if you shop around.... Having 1/8th buggies and racing them..back in the day, I'm kinda over setting them up to handle like scalpels at 80kph... I'm 3 days into a 8s X-Maxx ownership and can VERY much see why this car is loved so much. Mind you I've only run it on 6s... still waiting for my twin 4s 6000mah 60c lipos. Man this thing even on stock gearing, running twin 3S 3700mah 35c Lipos out of my edf jets is a weapon!! Thank You Kev for beating the living hell out of your X-Maxx... You have a way of selling them hey!! Hahahaa This video alone should easily sell the X-Maxx... Just hope she's in production for many years to come!!!

I’ve had two brands of RC cars with metal chassis and have bent both brands. I’ve also had RC cars with plastic chassis and have never broken any, up until recently. But I was sending that RC like no tomorrow, and was landing on concrete. IMO I feel like the best option, is a plastic chassis with a metal bash bar. If the plastic chassis some how finds a way to crack, the bash bar will still hold it together enough to finish your lipos. It’s not even about brand anymore. It’s about getting the best bang for your buck. I’ve seen 3S / 4S cars out perform 6S / 8S cars. And I’ve also seen no name off brand cars out perform all of the above. Not everyone is bashing the same RC the same way. So it really boils down to your experience as a driver, and what your style of bashing is.

I have not had either of them, but the xmaxx seems a little more towards my taste, but what do i know? The only real "monster truck" (although i would personally more consider it a truggy) is the redcat volcano i got for Christmas in 2017.

When the body mount on the xmaxx pops off, it could be a design feature to keep the body intact longer

I personally don't like the look of Traxxas and the chunks of plastic. Even though the arrma is expensive, I like the look and construction. Even though it's fragile, I can only like arrma.
