Ask your wife why she hates you being happy.....preferably after you are lit with a few beers. *Get ready to rumble!....argument time!* Lol....or actually not really funny but more sad.....
Very well. I put a joyo vintage drive (which is a Tube Screamer clone) in front and it does exactly what you think it would do - cuts the bass, adds that mid-hump, and lets the Preamp House do the "chugs" for palm-muted metal riffs. Tried the Rectifier setting, LoneStar setting, 5150, any of them sound great.
I have tried MANY amp sim pedals and this, for the money, has been the best. I have tried the Boss IR-2, Sansamp, and various other Joyo amp sim pedals. This is the best. It delivers good sound and has EXCELLENT noise suppression (something most other similar products fail miserably esp when you are trying to get heavy tones w high gain). The only place it fails is with an external dirt pedal but the sounds it is equipped with are great you won't need one. Great for direct recording.
it sounds like they definitely nailed the EVH, the Orange and the ENGL sims... Edit: also that riff with the pinch harmonics was disgustingly beautiful
LOL!! Sounds NOTHING like ANYTHING by Van Halen, EVER! =)) Some pedal brand could put the label 'Mesa Rectifier' & if it sounded like crow calls or cow farts U wold pretend it sounds like a Mesa = a $ucker born every second! =))
Hey Taylor, how about a revisit of this pedal? (if you still have it) Run it thru your favorite tube amp effects return into your trusty ol Mesa 4x12 WITH CAB SIM TURNED OFF with a "standard" overdrive boost in front (TS or SD1)
Doin gods work man. As far as I'm concerned your either Mr.budget metal tone or Mr.metal amp modeler shooter outer. Thanks do much for this. Now you know whats next right? Comparing these preamps to the mooer preamps!
Nice review! I picked up one of these today. I ran it through a Headrush 108 FRFR, then a SD PowerStation 170 and then a Marshall DSL 20 return loop, def sounds BEST with a real amp tube power section and real cab. I noticed something about its "saving" functions, you can't actually save a preset setting for EVERY amp model. The A and B buttons will only save one Clean and one Dist tone only, and it can be engaged no matter what amp model you are on.
Enjoyed the vid....product sounds good. I kind of wished you’d have gave a few a try with a stock LP w/passives. For more generic rock tones (80’s/90’s).....with all the modes
@@ivanlydian6698 newbie question. with same gear , if i play to Amp. i need to turn off the flamma Cab? or just turn off cabsim feature. because i love the diezel on flamma Cab.
@@Worsttalkfilm If you go to an Amp Input/PowerAmp/FXReturn you have to turn off anything related to CAB Simulation. Flamma CAB or Joyo R-15 Cab Sim. If you like a profile in the Flamma CAB, try a FRFR Speaker
Honestly, I'm a lover for those little things containing a lot of amps and stuff, but this amp sim sounds so much the same on all of the hi-gain settings. It's like a subtle difference.
It has an fx loop so you could always add a sonic maximizer or amptweaker depth finder for presence and resonance controls? Im seriously done watching your videos dude ive literally changed my mind 4 times today alone on what pedal I want haha all videos ive already seen too lol been going back in time all day. 💙 you broski!
I’ve been debating getting this for a silent and quick practice option and there’s not many quality metal reviews out there. This is by far the best review of this pedal for metal that I’ve seen (not that my opinion as a random guy on the internet matters much 😆). Thanks for doing all tedious stuff so we can get a true idea of the tones! Keep crushing it dude! If you’re keeping the pedal for a while, it might be sick to try it with something like the cab box, which had an eq and presence control, to see if you can coax the exact tone you were looking for.
Thanks for the lovely review. Got the joyo preamp house today, it's a great pedal. Am using it with my baby bomb to power up my 1/12 cab for home practices. The stock cab sim is not bad, the tube amp simulation is good enough. It responds really well with my analog pedals, TS9+Diva drive+SL drive+ Keeley's Omni Reverb.
Hey man, can you recommend chipest best AMP CAB pedal that i can play on my headphones with no additional gear, just guitar direct to pedal and headphones? Cheers man, you have great videos always!
I'm pretty impressed. Especially for the price. Do you want to be on the road and stop at a bunk ass city and get your 400-500Ksr ceres stolen? Or your prized 120 watt tube amp? Or a like ~100 peda? l Having a small awesome sounding preamp like this at the price is an awesome selling point.
Stupid $cam = same exact tone, none of which R 'JCM900' or whatever, just different EQ rolling out all the highs on everything but 2 different degrees = lame.
Geez, so far every review of this device I've seen is only you high gain assholes! I'm trying to find out if it's something I should get but I'm a low to medium gain type who wants to hear The Fender, the Vox and the Lone Star.
I always wondered why they chose a Fender Twin Reverb and a JCM 900 instead of the Deluxe Reverb and JCM 800. I think they just ripped off/borrowed the algorithm from Mooer
I was wondering if this pedal was decent. I almost bought it to check it out but I'm glad I didn't now lol. The low end sounds terribly flubby on every sim.
It sounds good but it doesn't really sound like the amps it is supposed to be copying. It is like the mid-range reacts differently than the real amps do. Ultimately that doesn't matter as long as you can get a usable dirty sound and a clean sound.
I put a Joyo Zip Amp in the send-return loop and it was muddy. I thought the Zip Amp might have messed up with the Preamp House and causing muddy sound so I changed from the Joyo Zip Amp to the Joyo Tauren which I think is a drive pedal but the sound was still muddy. It looked like something was wrong with the loop circuit. I tried again and this time I put the Tauren drive in front of the Preamp House but the sound was still muddy! Does anyone experience the same issue? Thanks.
@@SwingEzzZZ Nah, it's just another of the bazillion $cam 'guitar' products = just name the same sound with different EQ or something as if it sounds like a bunch of different famous expensive amps but of course it doesn't sound like any of them at all =)) The idea is to keep you fiddling with it until the return period expires or find someething else to do with it that didn't sound anything like you were promised =P It's criminal fraud but never prosecuted. Guitarists should do a class action on brands that say 'Marshall blabla' but doesn't sound like it.
Most models remind me of amps being boosted by a TS frequency wise. That’s not the most ‘used to’ way, but could be way more convenient for high gain imho. Why not make the most of the tech, it is digital after all. Shame it lacks ir loading option, though the built in is quite usable. Btw, noticed the Master and Volume knobs are cranked all the way. Is it kinda shy with the output levels?
It`s like straight preamp sound, very mid heavy. Coupled with tube poweramp or PA that emulates PA-cab coupling it, maybe, sound better. Or if IR contains PA-cab interaction (i.e. impedance curve). Actual EVH 5153 straight from line out also sounds very mid-range. So it`s like tube preamp into "Hi-Fi" power amplifier (like PA from Randall transistor amps).
Great! But it is not YNGL, like Yngwie. It is ANGL, like Angus Young! Not important, man, I wish I could also do product videos like you. Very professional. You get better every single time.
When I turn on my pedalboard both lights are turned on I need to disconnect the pedal and reconnect it back to use it. Is there a way to use it just pressing a footswitch without disconnect the pedal?
i got one of these used and no manual, i cant find it anywhere online and or know how to use it (was working at first, then i noticed lighting was blinking, and now i get no volume)
Just use the XLR output. You can use it with the built-in cab sim for the full amp sound or use it without the cab sim for the preamp tone. That's what the toggle switch is for.
Hey Taylor great playing and that thing sounds bad to the bone.but I've heard other demos and it didn't sound nothing like what yours sounded. My question does this sound that good and I'd be running it thru a power amp and cab and I'm going to get the joyo cab box
Great. Why do we still stick to wanting real tube amps? I'm used to recording infront of my PC but still bought a Marshall DSL20CR a few years ago. I hate the fact, that it sounds like shit when played quietly and at the level it sounds good I need hearing protection. It is way easier and more flexible to dial in a decent tone with a software or hardware sim.
I find it to be the other way around, very easy to mess up settings with plugins for me. Still havent been able to find the right settings with dsp neural, mercuriall etc.
@@fredriksvard2603 It depends on the plugin for me. There is crap out there for sure - even among the popular ones. I think real amps simply don‘t work for me that well, because the tone you dial in is not what you hear later with a mic. Additionally using a tube amp with impulses is inconvenient and makes not enough difference (DSL20CR vs Joyo British Sound).
@@ScienceofLogicTV Yeah thats true too. My (limited) experience is that amos usually sound at least decent even if the micd sound isnt the same as the sound you hear in the room, whereas with plugins you can easily make it unlistenable by just turning one knob a couple of notches. Just my 2c.
I wonder how this would do if you used it with one of the joyo amps. Like that blue one that's just a really clean amp? I can't think of the name atm. 🤔
I bet that this wonderful piece of gear with its drive boosted by any TS-ish overdrive will sound HUGE and powerful. Would be glad to see it happening.
If U have something that actually sounds good U don't need 2 'boost' it or whateverthefuk = jeez. Just slap a tube screamer on a pile of steamy dog poo & MAGIK! =))
