Thanks for the kind words about the G'MIC plug-in. We've been developing it since 2008 (with love :) ), and we're glad to know that it can be useful for GIMP users! Cheers. David.

This is one of the most comprehensive video on a subject I've watched and I've watched thousands. The notes are exhaustive. Keep up the love of GIMP and opensource.😍
These frequent videos are appreciated; I've used GIMP for over ten years and still learning new things. Learned about G'MIC plugin from a previous video and it has been a gamechanger. Never was impressed with Photoshop and the price is unacceptable for people that don't need it every day or week
Wow. I am a novice photoshop user. And I am using CS6. (Never saw a need to change) until the lack of support for CS6. I have been saying for years that I want something else. I downloaded gimp and used it sparingly. Now that I have found your page. I will be signing up for your classes and tutorials. Your video's are spot on and very detailed. You have a new subscriber. Thanks.
Davies, I can't decide what I am more grateful for, such a great open source program or your well made extremely helpful tutorials for it's users. Congrats, I am sure your tutorials have a huge impact on the graphic design world community that doesn't have access to formal education
These are awesome - much needed features. I made a promise to myself to give back to every open source design software I use if I am able to profit from them somehow. Gimp would be among the first to get me into this amazing field.
Thanks as always for the great input. I do most of my photographic processing in Darktable, and vector graphics in Inkscape, but when more detail is needed, GIMP has been my go to for over fifteen years. I now have more catching up to do after this little video! 😁
great video. I am just getting started with Windows-10 GIMP and downloaded an astrophotography plugin and did not know what to do with it? 😎 Thanks a lot. 🐬
This is great. I have leant much from your tutorials and courses. I do have a question though! When upgrading do all the plugins have to be reinstalled?
THANKS! If I install PhotoGIMP _first,_ can I then install the other plugins you mention, chiefly G'MIC? BTW: I use Clip Studio for most art-related needs, but I am mostly interested in GIMP for creating Type FX. Which plugin is best for that? GREAT video!
Not all these addons work for Linux Mint 21. The Resynthesizer Tool is missing, as well as Luminosity and GIMPainter. However, GMIC is there (the best of all of them); the Texturize Tool works; and Darktable and RawTherapee are also available to download from the store. It seems no matter which GIMP version I use (whether it's the Software Manager's version, or the Flathub, the addons do not appear to work). Perhaps it is just me doing the wrong setup. I hope that's the case. Anyway, I just wanted to point out these problems out in case they're having issues as well. Also, yes, because of the frustrations, I'm using Software Manager's version, not the flathub. Also, there are some GIMP addons that ARE for download with their Software Manager's version. I tried the Flathub, but the addons don't work. Plus, when I have made the user interface buttons bigger, the bottom right buttons have become squished (a bug). This only happens on the Flathub version, not Software Manager's version. Please help... :(
What open source site has GIMP plugins that creates borders to frame a photo? I tried to create a plug-in 'create inner and outer border and enhance color in python.
I remember last time I tried to get GIMP running I couldn't get any of the plugins working (mac version). Is this still the case? I want to love GIMP but I need it usable lol
I'm new to GIMP and I'm a Mac user. I'm dissatisfied with G'Mic, which I only need for FFT and IFFT. I can't find an up-to-date version for Mac OS X, and following the links from the G'Mic site, I find one version of G'Mic is bundled with a very much out-of-date version Gimp (called "McGimp") and another is unstable and crashes. Additionally, the Fourier plug-in GUI has no way of specifying whether you want FFT or IFFT, but instead relies on some magic to know what the user wants. This magic fails more often than not, so that instead of getting an IFFT it just produces garbage. G'Mic may work fine on Windows and Linux, but it's a real disappointment on Macs.
Is there any pluging so I can do the face peel effect? Seen alot of work on insta where faces are peeled like an apple. I've seen an action for ps. But unfortunately not for gimp
I have downloaded latest version of both Raw Therapee & Dark Table , unfortunately Dark Table does not work with Gimp but Raw Therapee does. Can u let me know as to what could be the reason for that?? I have restarted & reinstalled all the programs but in the end Dark Table does not work with GIMP. In the Edit Preferences also Dark Table dosent get highlighted but Raw Therapee does????
Is there anything able to batch process images according G'MIC filters? I would like to make a montage for sets of images collected on separate folder. I use G'MIC for it, but I do manually folder by folder. Is there anything doing this automatically?
KEVIN THORNTON's Luminosity plug-in doesn't seem to be working in linux (GIMP 2.10.18 using Kubuntu 20.04). Just added the .py file in the home/**/.config/GIMP/2.10/plug-ins/ but nothing seem to be happening. I search for the plug-in using the GIMP inbuilt Plug-in Browser but, again, there seems to be no trace of it.
Gimp 2.10.32 does not play along with DDS plugin, Insane Bump plugin and IFF ILBM importer plugin (Amiga format) this sucks hard! ;(. Dll error message...
Good day i have Gimp 2.10 tried to to get separate + plugin , no matter what i do it never works is there a problem with the plugin and Gimp 2.10 or they are not compatible, is there a fix for the problem?
Has anyone figured out how to add photo access for xgimp on iOS ? It’s not available under privacy or app permissions in settings. One of these latest updates have screwed everything up and it won’t request access to photos
Hi there I was wondering, since Microsoft got rid of their Image Composite Editor (their panorama stich program,) they give the option of a plugin called Photosynth Plug-in for Photoshop (32-bit and 64-bit). Can this be used in Gimp? I really need an easy to use scan and stitch program, user friendly for scanning my large artwork canvases. I always used ICE, however I cannot clear the cache in it and it causes problems so I am looking for something in GIMP. The ones you taught about previously are a bit much to do manually for me. Wonder if you know anything about this Photosynth. Thanks
You can use the free Hugin plugin, which works with GIMP. I don't particularly love the plugin as it's not intuitive to use, but I do have a tutorial on how to use it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xGqKJWRMnh4.html
Do you have a video where i can see how to installed photogimp? Before in the pass i was a Photoshop user but now i have unbuntu... Pfff is s*cks when youre photoshopdude
is there a Gradient Text Plugin ? if i Tipe a text i can change its size and colore but why is there no option for grading and shadows direct at the text tool ? does anyone know about a plugin for this?
Hello from Tampa! Great list of Plugins & Addons, thanks for sharing. Like + Subscribe + Smashed the Notification Bell = I'll be Watching!!! Be well and stay encouraged!
'Right now' was in 2022, and nothing serious has happened with Gimp for years. Version 3.0 is still just a hope per September 2024. Real non-destructive editing in Gimp is postponed to version 3.2, probably x years out in the future, whatever 'non-destructive' means. A real non destructive smart object feature in Gimp like the one in PS and AP2 may have been prevented by Adobe through persuasive arguments.
You are going to fast with the most important part. Saving the file to the correct MB so that others know how to do it. It will continue to tell them that the file is too big. Bummer.
FYI: I stopped watching because I got sick of watching you plug yet another video of paid training for each . and . every . plug-in . you . mentioned. You literally spent more time plugging other videos than just covering the topic you promised in the title.
They are free tutorials that teach the plugins I mentioned - minus two tutorials on DMD Premium. If I covered in this video what I covered in those videos we’d be here all day.
U need to really dose yourself on the auto-promo man. Ik its your video etc but the more than invasive promo really cuts the user experiance. I had a really hard time not to quit by the 4th ad.
