#9 Getting Off The Ladder - Unreal Engine 4 Ladder Tutorial Series

I know that the series is from 2 years ago, but when I make your guide, when the character wants to go to the top, it gets blocked

Will this logic also work for a character from the first person?

How do you jump off the ladder?

Story Time: Every time i follow your tutorial, i really like the outcome and the ease of the workflow, simple and professionally organized. However, viewers need to watch the whole tutorial first to see that outcome and many kinda lazy to do that. (end of the story). Now here is my humble Suggestion: if you put a small video cut of the outcome in the beginning of every tutorial video. viewers will continue watching the whole video for sure, because they gonna like the outcome by 100%. [why did i ended up in your channel?, because there aren't many actually out there as i checked all of them. luckily stuck in here]. Sorry for the long comment and i am not trying to be smart i just want the best for you.

This worked after some fiddling with it, how could we go about making a get off ladder function for when you reach the top? Say you go up the ladder to another floor of a building, currently the character just keeps trying to climb higher when I reach the top, whereas preferably he could just go up and over once at the top.

This series is so well done it's difficult to find anyone doing such a good job. I though have a question: I'm making a 3D Sidescroller, and I want to be able to run past the ladder without grabbing onto it. Then when I press "up arrow" I want to grab onto the ladder. I've been trying to make it work for several hours, without luck. Do you have an idea? :) Cheers and thanks for the tutorial!

This series was really great and helped me a lot, works in UE5 as well. Compared to other ladder tutorials this is much more usable and actually works, even though i needed to fiddle with some stuff, but i guess that was mostly because of my own project having different components. Also some differences in UE5, the timeline length for example can't be set below 1s for whatever reason, but adjusting the playrate works around that just fine. Would be highly interested in the continuation of the series with the jumping you mentioned and how you handle entering the ladder from the opposite side on the top ;) It's already great tho, thanks a lot and good luck with your own game "Into The Maze"!
