Great video on these different high gain pedals Silas. Some familiar ones, and also some new (to me) ... From the familiar ones, I liked best the Boss - Metal zone Waza Craft, Okko - Dominator, & Emma - PisdiYauwot. From the less known ones, I liked best the Darta - Blackheart, & Dfz - Triple box Of Metal , nice surprises those two beasts, especially the chainsaw tone from the Dfz!!! 🤘

Is there anything similar to the triple box metal? I absolutely love the sound. They don’t sell in the USA to try out. If I do buy one I’m looking at wasting $234 USD shipping is $40USD if I can’t find anything else I might just get it. I have no clue how it would sound in my set up tho. Thanks!

Yep my Metal Zone modded by Analogman (lower noise floor) is still on my board for my lead tone with a Catalinbread Sabbra Cadabra at 18volts into an Orange Dark terror into 4x12 with Celestions. Absolutely that Revv purple G3 rocks tops of my want last too. Thanks for the slices of tone. Maybe its just me but I think a lot of have the dual rectifier or Friedman bass sounds over the usual hot rodded Marshall. The Swedish Death metal pedal is chunky with a big low end and it is not noisy. Is it gated? Cheers from Detroit, the most metal city outside of Birmingham England. B

The originality of some of the more rare / designer / independent maker pedals can't be denied . On SOME of them. The Frankenstein and Dominantor punished my ears as they shoukd. Of course, the Revv. But, for a more mass produced pedal my favorite has always been the MXR Fullbore Metal. Is say drop the " Fullbore" but I have three in case two break. I agree with previously commented " use the same gear with each pedal."

The metal zone is my favorite preamp pedal, I would love it if you did a video with the DOD death metal in front of the amp and in the effects return

hello Silas, i have not a valve amplifier at the moment, i have a LINE6 CATALYST 60W, which one for you is the best to have the james sound (metallica) ? i like a lot the MXR5150

I would of replaced EVH with amptweaker tight Metal pro.thats a good distortion pedal to be reckoned with.but if I had to choose one of these 9 I'd still take the Boss metal zone as I'm still digging that vintage metal sound it releases.i just like that old school Metallica sound.🤘🏻🔥

Have that Pisdiyauwot pedal. Don't know why but it sounds like shit with my Boss Katana. Maybe I need a better amp.

I'm from Ecuador and I had no idea that they manufacture guitar pedals here.

just wanted to say the Boss Metal zone detroys this pedal! I had my cousins over yesterday to watch the game, Canadiens beat Boston in overtime by the way, and I had just bought the revv a couple of weeks ago and had rebough the metal zone. I had one in the 80's. so I start with the revv got an ok distortion but found that I couldnt tweek it any better and that it did not satisfy me, just missing perfection you know? this is paired with the Boss equalizer by the way in a v shap. so then I decide to try the metal zone that I know is very heavy, so I start tweeking to him playing this very heavy riff non stop and found many different cruching sounds but at the end of maybe 5min I found heaven no words could really explain it except for perfection. and even had room. but this spot simply was IT! crushed the revv to bites. it's distortion at max and the two middle button facing each other top and bottom buttons. the first 2 at 9 oclock and the second two at 3 oclock. around there you will find pure eargasm. Its the same as in the 80's I remembered I had the first 2 at 8 and the second 2 at 4 oclock. very close depends who's playing and pick ups etc.. but still around the same thing. this is in front of the amp. this amp has no fx loop but I remember in does days I had a peavy that had an fxloop and it sounded great both ways. The revv will be put on sale. I also have the Sabbra Cadabra for the sabbath sound that I will keep for now. I just got the Swollen Pickle for fuzz that I will be trying out. In conclusion for good distortion and huge versitility I recommend the metal zone hands down :)

If talking about real high gain, I expected to ear the guyatone metal monster, the boss metal core and the blackstar distX. And why not the okko black beast, great fuzz but you can get metal dist.And piod effects what you want ², very engl like tones. Anyway, great review !! My favorite is the okko dominator.

Fun fact... The power supply cable my mxr 10 band EQ comes from china...(12v) Usually they dont come with a power cable but if so, u can bet they bought it in china... Sad, i would pay 30$ more if no chinese or russian parts where used...

This was not a great comparison video. The fact that different guitars were used, you only showed 1 of the Revv G3's voices out of 3. Awesome playing as usual though.
