9 Ideas To Improve Copperdale High School | The Sims 4 Guide 

One thing that could have been added was a home economics class. Teens could learn cooking, knitting, crochet, woodworking, and any other homebase activities based on simmers packs ownership.

I made mine a hippy school like I went to with gardening, and recycling and all the artistic hobbies represented, easels cross stitch, knitting woodworking, making, and plenty of scenic picnic spots on the land.

I already forgot how the original Copperdale High School looks like, as buldozing it and building my own was literally the first thing I did after getting the pack. What makes the school feel live for me is specialized classrooms. Create an art room, science lab, computer lab, music classroom... Anything like that, if you add the white board to it, they will technically be functional, tho a bit wonky as your Sims will only take notes, in some cases while sitting on a floor. You can look at your Sims class schedule and asign a classroom for that day to match the class they're about to have. Also, the first thing I decided to add to my school was the student lounge room. Put a game table there, a desk, maybe a stereo or some of the fun activities from packs, and you have a good place for hanging out with your friends after school. Better than the rabbit hole after school clubs if you ask me. And a good opportunity to use those cute but weird Movie Hangout sitting cushions if you have the pack.

Thanks for mentioning the lack of carpet options. Carpet and linoleum are extremely common floorings that are woefully underrepresented in this game. Meanwhile, we have every type of hardwood floor imaginable.

I found one of the first thing to do with the high-school lot was to avoid a big front square because otherwise in gameplay mode the sims don't have enough time to move around the school to do their tasks

I'm so glad you made this video, because I was looking for ways to spice the school up and kept blanking out when trying to do it myself.

Gentle reminder that the reason why the default school is so bland is probably so that the EP can run on the standard PS4 & XB1 consoles. Those consoles are notorious for crashing during live mode gameplay on 64x64 lots, and it’s worse when the lot is busy!!! Some great ideas in here; I’m currently playing around with the auditorium in build mode as well, so that’s there’s a lot more things to do on that lot other than careers day & prom. Definitely thinking about somehow incorporating both a basketball court & a ‘school asssembly’ area including the debate podiums. I know this video's been around for a few months, but I recently finished completely rebuilding Copperdale High School and it took way too long but I used some of the suggestions from this video and the comments. I think the build turned out really cool and I want to brag about it because I'm proud of myself. My version of Copperdale High School includes: -- Everything that's essential for the basic school day, ie the main classrooms and the cafeteria, located conveniently close to each other to make it less likely for your Sim to be late to class. -- Additional classrooms for art 🎨, woodworking, and music 🎶, a chemistry lab, a library 📙, a computer lab, and a home ec classroom with a functional kitchen. -- A "black box" theater in the round, which I based on my own high school memories; I was a huge theater kid. I put some of the acting marks from Get Famous on the stage floor, so the theater is actually a functional rehearsal space. There's also a ThrifTea-style clothing rack in the theater dressing room. -- A hooligans' hangout on the school roof, with a music player and several DIY murals for spraying graffiti. -- A fitness center, complete with locker rooms, a few pieces of exercise equipment, some cheer mats 📣, a swimming pool that admittedly turned out kinda small but Sims can still swim laps in it 🏊, and a huge double basketball court 🏀. I tried to make the fitness center look like it was a later addition onto the original school building. -- An outdoor courtyard between the cafeteria and fitness center, with a couple of picnic tables, a school garden, and a bunch of footballs 🏈 and soccer balls ⚽ -- For those of us who want to Simcariously live out their Hogwarts fantasies as well as their High School Musical fantasies, I organized the lockers into four sections, one with red lockers, one with blue, one with yellow, and one with green, so that if you want to, you can have your Sim choose the color of their locker to match what their Hogwarts house would be. I also put the hidden door disguised as a bookshelf reward from the writer career in the library; the hidden door leads to a secret chamber in the basement with a cauldron for student spellcasters to learn alchemy, a couple of plasma fruit trees just in case the teen vampires need to grab a snack, and a panic room to lock up teen werewolves when they rampage in the middle of the school day. -- Lot Traits: Study Spot for the skill gainz and because I thought it made sense for a school to be a study spot, Teen Neighborhood because I figured a lot of teens would probably be hanging out in the neighborhood around their school, and Great Soil so that the plants in the school garden don't suffer too much if your Sims are too busy to tend them. I'm still working on rebuilding the Auditorium. That's been taking way too long too, but I hope it turns out good.

You had me cracking up more than normal at your comments in this video. Yeah the school is so large and boring I don’t even know where to begin to remodel it. It’d be a large undertaking. Great ideas, fyi in my schools, we never had carpet, so that’s definitely different for me.

I think it would be cool if they added picture day to the school. You could have your sims wake up and have crazy hair by accident or be made up perfectly. And then later be sent the school pictures in the mail. oh and they should add backpacks!

If you have the nostalgia living stuff pack, you can give your school that confetti carpet normally found in movie theaters and arcades from 30 years ago!

I would love to see a video like this about downtown Strangerville since I recently got it and think it's adorable but don't know how to make the most of it. I did put a food truck in the trailer park though and that's cute IMO

Nice ideas. I did a bit of a reno to the front of the school, and placed trophy cases there. But, yes, love the club rooms ideas. Your renos look so fresh and innovative.

I completely rebuilt the high school, just so I could add a boarding wing and make it viable for teen-only households. Full kitchen alongside the cafeteria, library and study hall below the bedrooms and lounge space for the boarders. I even had a laundry room and mailboxes, because boarders do their own laundry even when it’s torture. It was not a small build, and I was not gentle on packs.

Beautiful and amazing. I was originally going to try to edit it based on what is in the video to add my own flair but realized I couldn't do so. Thank you so much for putting this on the gallery. Your builds are amazing. I only put a few touches for myself. The outside is dark and every school I know has a ton of light outside for safety mainly. I added a couple benches (and trashcans) lining the entrance walkway with a statue. Finally, I saw a cute bird-dove(?) wall design I put on the front of the school for a "mascot" type of feel.

I love placing the class tables and chairs in different formations for different classes and also creating different classes and setting the whiteboard to the appropriate class at the start of the day. A science room for science, a class with Snowy Escape decor for foreign language, an art class etc.

As sad as those rooms are, they are are pretty much exactly what they looked like in my cira early to mid 90's high school. Especially the computer lab which are totally Mac Classics.

Club spaces is such a good idea! I really wanna add a big gym with basketball courts in my school.

How did you make them game together?

Although I do own the EP, I prefer how I have been doing my own version of "follow your sim to school." Basically, I need Get Together (essential for my gameplay), MC Command Center (to get my students to drop out of school and get back in school before aging), and Get to Work (optional). 1. Build a clubhouse (school) for your age-appropriate sims. I like using smaller lots, 20x15, as you want to do as much as possible throughout the day without traveling for long periods. Normally I will make them into retail lots as you won't have random sims loitering around the building (just build an inaccessible basement, 1x1 square column, or attic with a counter and cash register, so no sim will spawn to tend the store). Placing activities around the building in a particular order (ex., desks and computers in one area and musical instruments in another), no need for rooms, just one large open concept room (or two if two floors) with a fully functioning kitchen. If children are present, you can hire a caterer to make food, and the money I spend on hiring, I pretend it is like tuition for a private school. If teens are present, then they can cook meals themselves. Build a playground for the kids or active outdoor activities for your teens, depending on what packs you have (ex., basketball court from City Living, soccerball from Discover University, and cheerleading mats from Highschool Years. Also optional, an outdoor wellness area if you have Spa Day). 2. Form a club and name it as if a school name. Set the activities for what one would expect to learn in school or any activities that could help with completing life achievements (specifically for kids, as their aspirations can be goals as if to achieve a good school performance) plus to socialize within your club so you can make friends in school. I used to do them in libraries, but since they were public, I had a more challenging time achieving anything as a club (other sims would take my activities before my club could get to them). The place that I usually have them meet is in a retail lot, as I can hide the cash register, making it easier for no other unwanted sims to enter. 3. (Optional) Set uniforms for your club members. I have experimented a lot, and since I have seasons, this can be challenging to have them wear their uniforms when it is snowing outside. I have found a way to counter this, which is very easy. Just make sure to set a uniform for their everyday, sport (optional), swimwear (optional if you add a pool), hot and cold (optional if you have seasons). Tip: I have found it more fun if I have multiple kids (two siblings), and they each form a club in the same school to have more kids for them to have a fuller school setting. I have also found it easier to have boys-only and girls-only clubs as I only have to focus on adding one gender uniform versus two, as it can get tedious to repeat the process twice. Also, you could make them an all-girls school or all boys school. 4. While in your new "school," I have my kids and teens quit school until a few days before they age up so they will not have poor performance in the in-game school. They will then go to the rabbit hole schools so I can focus on other family members who need love from me, their goddess. (Alternatively, you could have them join the school and cheat their grades) I do this, so my kids have better options to go to university with scholarships, and their responsibilities are manageable (Parenthood GP). Playing like this often helps me get super sims as I can increase their levels earlier and more than if I were to leave it to the game options. I hope this inspires someone who doesn't have the newer game packs on how to still follow your sims to school. Enjoy!

I legit hate the OG copperdale school. Especially since the trailers made it look so cool. So I replace it with schools made in the gallery. Sometimes I use that as a story point in my game like "I once had to goto a crummy public school. But then we moved/ I got transferred/ my parents got rich and now I was sent to a way better school!"

The sim team never delivers anything. Have to count on you so I can improve the game play. Great works as always!

Why did you have to make a point of the flooring? As I type this, I am currently adding a trim to every room in Copperdale (yanno, what TS team should've done themselves). Anyway, I blame you for this 😭

How about a science or chemistry lab? That being said, i think some of the science lab items are usable only either by children OR by being in the GTW Scientist career?

it's interesting that there's an art room but no art class

the only thing that can possibly improve the school for me is making the building smaller (or just making the classrooms, bathrooms, cafeteria, and gym closer together) and at the front of the lot so you don't waste two in-game hours claiming a locker. i usually only play an active school day with occult sims because they get from point A to point B faster.

I like how the plain, empty, unfinished looking high school offers us the opportunity to use our own creative imagination. We can make it our own 🙂

Aw, my sim married Sidney his pretty cool. On autonomy, he maintains good relationships. I like mischief and negative traits, but on free will, they just ruin relationships completely infants and all.

Historically I have placed stoves, refrigerators, microwaves, and sinks in the cafeteria not that students could use them to raise their cooking skill, but because of safety regulations.

I feel like a popularity ranking system is missing from the gameplay for this pack.. that would've been so cool!

I don't understand how a AAA developer, with a "dedicated" and "passionate" team for a single game can make such a bland, tacky & lazy community lot, which is literally the main draw of the entire pack

The color scheme is trash. It's not 2002, no more. A lot of high schools have a brighter color scheme .
