I really enjoyed this video. What a fantastic venue! Kudos to WFMU for sponsoring the gig. When I see so many boxes of records I keep thinking of what a pain in the back it must be to move all those for each show! LOL. Thanks much for posting this.
Last time I went to a WFMU record fair was back in 2018 or 2019 in Greenpoint. This video reminds me of getting aches and pains in the shoulders and back being hunched over crates for hours while jockeying for some elbow room. Thanks for the tour!
Very good pans and editing. Nice and slow. And good capture of ambient sound. As someone who is also capturing stores and events in the Tokyo area, can I ask what camera you used for this video? I'd like to stay with a smartphone as they are light an inconspicuous, but when I see professional captures like this, while considering my own gear; I'm compelled to ask. If that is proprietary, than perhaps I could reach out to you via e-mail and delete this comment...
Thank you for the compliments. This was all technology! I shot it on my iPhone 14 Pro, and then dumped it all into iMovie. iMovie did the segues. It’s the easiest video I’ve ever uploaded to RU-vid. It’s just nutty I have a Sony ZVE1 but have yet to figure out how the damn thing works. I’d love to see a video from Japan
@@kenmicallefjazzvinylaudiop6455 I just came across a video by Peter Lindgren comparing the iPhone 15 to the Sony ZVE1; maybe some quickstart tips for you there on the Sony. Thank you for your reply.
Where do the vendors get those plastic hanging thing to display the expensive records?? Looked all over the internet and can’t find this anywhere. Anyone know?
I bought a Japanese nina rota soundtrack, a Kenny Wheeler record, a Roy harper record Foo Fighters wasting light, the who sings my generation and a weird 70s Prog rock album, Zozs plastic thanks for asking
I lived in Brooklyn for 40 years up to 94, there was never anything close to a show this size. Back then I would have to go to NJ or LI, to find a show 1/4 of the size. However any day of the week you could hit a record store and find “wall” records for between $10-$15. When CD’s came in you can’t believe the $$$$ records that were dumped.
How you gonna talk about these rare Sonny Clark and Kenny Burrell albums that are apparently right in front of you but not even pan your camera over to show them? 😂 I think it was all a lie.
I find it totally unfair that WFMU which is located in Jersey City NJ to locate the fare to the outer boroughs. Queens NY. This record fare was always in Manhattan accessible to all NY and NJ collectors. It’s very difficult if you are coming in from north Jersey to travel by different subways to this location. I'm sorry but its hard for me too support WFMU until they bring this fare back which I know ain’t going to happen now, screw them, I really wanted to go too this fare.
lets just hope weather cooperates for the record riot in JC on 28th lol. havent gone to one there before, but still confused why its outdoors, esp originally scheduled in Aug, and wouldve melted everything during the heatwave.
