Until you realize the theory is that it's actually David using Shaw's vivisected head to sing "Country Road" to lure the ship to the planet. 😕One can't actually make out if the singing is a male or female voice. For a moment, you even see Shaw in the transmission for a split second, where it looks like the head from David's drawing.
@@eggheadreportin ths ship, you can see that she was sitting at the board singing herself. It's likely she was scared in her last moments and sang a song to make her feel close to home.
Morale of the story: Dont stop your journey to a planet you are fully prepared for to go off to a mysterious planet that somehow escaped your scans and the only reason you learned about it was due to a garbled transmission especially when you have a ship full of colonists
I loved Prometheus and the fact there more to the Alien universe than aliens just stalking and killing people granted yes there we're many lost opportunities in Covenant to tie things together better but now the script for Alien "the crossing" prologue was released at least we know how David killed Shaw and possibly why he killed all the Engineers on the planet i still think Ridley can salvage the franchise with a movie that is well written and ties everything together nicely I've been obsessed with the Alien universe since the first movie granted i was only 10yrs old when it was released i want to see an ending to it all not just leave the story floating around untold.
Moral of the story. You are never too smart or advanced to implement basic quarantine rules and infectious disease protocol & control. Analyze the planet (orbital and on the ground) by sending in the rover or AI life form for at least a few weeks even months if necessary before landing anybody. Don't rush. Stupidity and recklessness = terrible unnecessary deaths.
I really like Walter here. The fact Fassbender changed accents for both Walter and David. movie had flaws but it wasn't bad just because the leader was stupid enough to go near an Xeno egg
What a bunch of nice people, what happened to them was horrible no person should go through this. Rest in peace people, You will be missed my condolences to friends and families of this remarkable crew
Making the aliens a fairly new life-form created by a human made android ruined the franchise. Ridley Snott has destroyed this francise. I don't want to see another Alien movie unless Ridley Snott get's kicked off the project and they pretend his awful prequels never happened.
czar225 don't judge everything until he finishes his vision for the alien universe. We haven't seen it all yet and I hope we get to see more alien in the future. I love this universe!
Isolation actually tried to stay true to the original movie whereas, in Covenant, Ridley Snott just said "I started this franchise, so I'm gonna do what I want, regardless of how stupid and out of place it seems. Here's a chestburster that's ready to dance! 5 minutes later, BAM, it's fully grown. Now I'll throw in a little poorly constructed philosophy to distract pretentious artsy-fartsy pseudo-intellectuals from how stupid the plot and characters are."
This was my fave bit of the film! when they were in space! with the soundtrack going on!! it was the build up! but didn't turn out the way I wished! it just doesn't have the fear factor of Alien
Gibson Weasel it wasn't meant to create the fear factor of Alien . The prequel series was to explain the mystery of Alien franchise without actually explaining it and keep the mystery intact .
That's because we already know what's coming. In "Alien", the beacon signal caused MOTHER to wake the crew up. Here, it was a neutrino burst, a natural phenomenon. It would be a valid question to ask why a helmet com system, with a short, ineffective antenna would receive a signal that the main system, with better antennas, didn't. I did like how the ship's sensors were able to determine the planet's vitals along with its magnetic field. Scientists agree that a planetary magnetic field strong enough to deflect the solar wind is necessary for life as we know it to have any chance for development.
I find it not a bad or good movie, just mediocre. There were some scenes in it that were really good but overal it wasn't great. I really liked the the moments that the first team members die, the building up is well done. They are first getting sick and stuff before dying. But after that it really goes fast. There are to many people in it to die. So they speed up things. That's what i don't like about it. It goes to fast. The Original and the sequel are really well paced while this one isn't. I also didn't liked the xenomorhp scenes. I also found them to fast and to easy. They weren't scary at all. It was to easy to get rid of it. But I still wanne see the next movie ( if it is going to be made). The ending of the movie was good enough to come back.
Vincent Witters Ridley made another "ahead of its time" film, as ALIEN: COVENANT is really more the creative Greek tragedy centered around a wonderful villain aka DAVID -- like PSYCHO (1960). Peace.
Covenant was good. People just hate it because it isn't their childhood. Well guess what, no one cares what you remember as a kid because at least be grateful your getting more alien stuff
In all honesty. This was a major shift from Prometheus. With Covenant reverting back to its Alien origins and we see that through the crews interactions with each other, sound and visuals, it all screams Alien. Which I liked, whilst it introduced other themes, which were biblical and sinister. Moreover, it is more terrifying (not scary) and gory than its previous incarnation. Easily the best thing about this film was about David/Walter and the new shift of focus on 'man and creation' which is highly intriguing and refreshing in an already saturated franchise. The problem was the execution and confusion of continuity. But in retrospect, this is another section of a story to a larger narrative Ridley has to yet complete, as stated. I can see why people are disappointed, this film was far from perfect and had its flaws, like every other film. I too was disappointed as I really appreciated Prometheus, albeit not an Alien film but a good introduction about the Xeno origin in another perspective. Overall, its interesting and philosophical and it's more or less not an improvement over Prometheus, but a film with the addition of Xeno's. Additionally, I've heard numerous people stating that David is the creator of the Xeno's, which is totally not the case, Ridley hasn't directly confirmed this and numerous other outlets on the official Alien: Covenant FOX forums and the novelisation have stated David replicated the work, modifying them, not creating them, the only creature he created alone was the Neomorph. The Protomorphs were infact modified as seeded eggs in the Facehugger, which were housed in Ovarmorph eggs that have already been placed in the facility before Davids arrival. The history of the Xeno's stem way before the engineers too as reference in Prometheus, who most likely developed their weapon that was derived from the Xeno species.
AM I the only one who thinks that is is a massive immersion breaker when all actresses in a movie look like "the hot chick"? I mean, its all movies just depict women as hot while most of them in the real world look normal.
4:04 - this Mother is a terrible AI, it can’t even get its words right. The word for astronomical “latitude”, as it were, is declination, not declension. Declension is a linguistics term.
2 theories here. One if you look at her face, it nearly matched her face they see of her on this planet. Dead and weird things out of her head so David could have puppet her and mimic her voice. 2 she was singing and that scream at the end was David killing her. The ship records everything into a holographic memory and thus David used it as a lure.
They really should've called this Prometheus: Covenant. It was definitely more of a Prometheus movie than an Alien movie. It's inching its way over into the Alien series, but it's still too far off to be Alien. Just for now.
if Ridley Scott makes Alien :Awakening ,it should be concluded for all answers of Prometheus and this movie .Because Fox Studio is planning to reboot it,so atleast this chance Ridley should get to end the continuity of earlier Alien movies ,so that it can be reboot .
I bet that in 10 year if you watch this movie again, all this cool holographic interface and CGI effects will look the same as if you watch the first Alien movie now.
So, Walter created the Alien. I'm looking forward to the next one maybe called Alien: Awakening where we'll see Ripley, which the ending of the Covenant shows the cast of Alien.
Nope not really... In AvP the Alien Queen was already present and frozen under Antarctica 2000 years ago... Also in Prometheus... The Engineers had a Mural of the Deacon which is thought to be the ancestor of the xenomorph remember? David probably created the eggs..
