We got our hands on a Pre-Release Build of Warhammer 40,000 Darktide a bit early to try out the Zealot. Check out the gameplay to see what you can expect from the game in an earlier mission. #warhammer40k #gaming
@@MrEj475 I Think the idea is to show off that anyone can play it and have fun, even people who aren't very good at games. That being said, yes I would like to see some gameplay from someone else too lol
Never had much issue with Legend players. Playing Champion you’ll get newer folks who don’t know the maps or where the books are hidden. Sometimes you gotta help carry.
@Serac the other personality types probably have more zealous options for the classes. It's hard to really get a feel for what themes and trends the writing leaning towards with so little to go off of. Especially when we don't know all the personalities.
LOL yeah him and I think I can hear a couple of the other voice actors as well...sounds like maybe the Ogryn is voiced by Bardin's actor and maybe I think I hear Sienna and Kerillian's actors too? The biggest shame is that Saltzies actor hasn't made an appearance....yet...maybe he'll get to be a villain this time around. EDIT: OHHHHHHHHHH, I just watched a vid with the psycher character and it sounds like it's Saltzpyre's voice actor!!!
@@Gorrano985 Actually, I'm not sure now, I looked up the voice actors and can't confirm that it's him but whoever it is sounds a bit like Tim Bentinck. Some of the other actors also sound similar to the Vermintide voice actors but the list I see doesn't show any of them. They probably just asked the voice actors for those archetypal type voices which inevitably remind us of those other characters
Nice to see lasguns and autoguns feel powerful. They're not suppose to be useless, just overshadowed by everything else that is overpowered in the galaxy.
Exactly. People joke about lasguns basically being flashlights, but that's like, in comparison to an Astartes-pattern Bolter. Just because it wouldn't put a dent in a 8 foot tall demigod super soldier doesn't mean it won't be perfectly useful for the trillions of regular humans in the galaxy.
This is why I like that they did not go with Space Marines as the protagonists. When all you see of 40k is the exploits of Custodes, Primarchs and Primaris Marines - your missing the reference point of "baseline human"... or abhuman as the case may be. I do hope they are including bolt weapons in the darktide loadout though. Since fatshark pretty much nailed it with weapons in vermintide2 - I would expect they would get the difference between a large autogun and the visceral devestation of the bolter.
@@christophedlauer1443 problem being that the main characters in this game feel like they're taking astartes level damage, and capable of astartes level feats - they look like humans but dont feel like them
@@markkushendrikmarken3471 just like in v2 ik I'm more commenting on the fact that the ones who got to play the game clearly have never played a fatshark game before lol
This game is easily one of my most looked forward to titles in the past few years. That being said I can hear a few issues with the music cues. Sometimes music wouldn't play at all in the video and other times you can hear it coming in and out, Hopefully that issue is hammered out when this game gets released.
I noticed that too. I really hope that it isn't an intentional "artistic flair" that the music keeps cutting out, because that might bother me while playing if its intentional. But other than that it really does look great!
@@MrCovi2955 it kinda sounded to me like they have a dynamic music system that layers based on context, but is not working quite right. either way, i'm sure they'll fix it.
I now know that the reason clob was a criminal was because he was a brain function nearly on par with a human, which in ogryns is a dangerous trait to have
The more I see of this game, the more excited I get. I have been excited since I heard about it years ago, but these videos are really hyping me up. Not to mention their article said your character can be very customized from beginning to end, like their personality and background, which will change their banter in the game. You can also have multiple classes of the same type on a mission, unlike Vermintide that only allowed one of each class. But even those two players of the same class could be vastly different based on their backgrounds, personalities, skills, and weapon choices, which may also alter the banter ever more. You may hear some very hilarious stuff between characters in this game.
I remember them talking about how many lines of banter they recorded between all of the classes and personalities. I can't remember the exact number, but the amount of lines is like 60-75% of the total lines in all of Fallout 4. There's going to be a TON of banter and I simply cannot wait
There is something that put me off about this game: animations feel copied from Vermintide 2. Just look how the enemy minions hit with their weapons from down, how the big enemies fall just like the shielded chaos warriors, and how the light attack of the hammer is headshot-oriented. I dont know, game looks nice and will probably buy it at some point, but you cant deny many things are copied from V2, and this doesnt feel original at 100%.
In this and Vermintide, I just wish the impact of each hit felt as visceral as the really cool death and hit animations. It feels like the NPCs are finished, but the PC didn’t get the same treatment
Its been a few good releases lately, Deamonhunters and Mechanicum arent AAA titles but pretty good regardless. More importantly, they both absolutely nail the setting.
@@eirikmarthinsen3850 No offense to fans of those games, but if I wanted a turn-based 40K game I'd play the tabletop (which I do). Mechanicus is rightfully legendary and Daemonhunter seems solid, but I haven't played either of them as I haven't the patience for turn-based PC games. I wanna get in there and smash stuff.
Ogryn: So, Golden Throne... how it work? Psyker: It is a tower of ancient machinery, powered by souls, and guarded by the ignorant. Veteran: Heard it needs more power all the time. Ain't good news for psykers.
@@genndy4538 they're an inquisitorial kill team that's practically been sentenced to death, fighting in a hive city that appears only to have hostiles in it so there's not much risk of information getting out, perhaps their access of forbidden knowledge is part of what landed them there to begin with
Haven’t watched all the gameplay yet but I hope we see more of grandfathers blessings the deeper we go into the underhive, pox walters, chaos spawn and maybe even a few drones
dont like to see small glitches like audio prompts not playing after a character says something and another responds, but i have absolutely no doubt that Fatshark are already aware of this and are working on it. either way, deathly impatient for this game! so excited
I mean the same is still like 3-4ish months out, and I guarantee this build is a few weeks to months old already. I expect to see those minor bugs fleshed out by release, but the core gameplay looks great so far
I’m sure they will sort these things out. I’m sure we can expect problems also during launch but I also know they will fix issues accordingly as they appear.
Yeah, looked horrible. I really liked the part were the tester didnt even read the "hit indicator" ocrrectly. turned 90° "nahh, dont know where it came from". Until got hit a 2nd time.
Now we just need Krieg skins for the inmates because I'm pretty sure your average Krieger is going to be more then willing to go through this kinda hell.
Really hope the zealot has voice lines even half as good as saltzspire cause half my entertainment from that game was shouting "I AM THE COMET I BURN THE IMPURE"
I'm glad they made the lasgun look like it had some actual impact. They may be weak as hell by space marine standards, but for a baseline human a lasgun actually packs quite a punch.
Maybe its just the difficulty setting, but it looks like individual mob enemies can take a bit more of a beating than in VT2. It's a nice touch since fighting hordes in VT2 kinda just feels like you're a blender tearing through everything, whereas here feels more like you're fighting individual enemies with actual health.
Love the gameplay, but I'm a tad disappointed by the Ogryn's voice. Not the acting, the performance is stellar, but I feel like it could use some more editing to make it feel like it's coming out of a gigantic abhuman.
IIRC, they mentioned that there are 3 different voice sets for each class that you can pick when customizing your character. But I agree, the acting is good, but this one sounds a bit, how do I put it? light?
@@Mach-2-Fishbed yes, exactly. It sounds like a bulky man, but still a man. I personally always imagined Ogryns talking with very slow and deep, guttural voices. Don't wanna push the stereotype but this one feels too...smart.
@IntrepidTit indeed, it could. But while I can see how it could be an interesting concept, I can't help but feel like that would be removing some of what makes Ogryns unique.
@@pipulci he is a genius equivalent on the ogryn, you can see he can compare diferent Knifes, he can speak well , even can assess the Situation , most ogryns would only charge, he Is a perfect candidate or already is a bonehead.
That sprint stamina gauge looks VERY annoying with that tiny duration. I hope that improves with leveling or something. Overall, it seems like a Vermintide with more focus on ambiance than frantic action. Could be a fun one.
I am so happy to see so much gameplay coming out now. To me, that signifies they made the right decision by pushing the release date, and that it's now in a state where Fatshark takes pride in showing what they've made.
There is one glaring thing, if the 2h hammer is like the one from vermintide that zealot uses it so wrong. When I use a 2h hammer power attacks are the go to most of the time...
No health bars unless it's a boss, let the players get a feel of how much ammo is needed to kill a heretic, also bright red lines kind of disrupt the game when you have such a good immersive world and enemy variety. Other than that it's looking like I'll drown months into it and nothing else. Cant wait!
to clarify, no health bars above the heads of enemies, putting bosses HB in HUD is fine, the players will pick out the nuances of silouete when engaging enemies
For a 40k setting I expected more gunfights; other than that this seems just like Vermintide with 40K filter on, which isnt necessarily bad, but not very exciting either.
Honestly I think this is early in the mission list where the cultists are just your average worker with a couple of actually armed and armoured in the mix.
They are playing the most vermentide-like character and are being played by someone who probably has to look down at their controller to figure out how to move their character
This looks incredible, the only thing is that from the vid it looks SUPER easy. They must have made a special game mode for game reviewers: Baby's First RPG
Same… I constantly was like: stick to the Group, block is a thing, don’t run alone into a horde of enemies and get yourself surrounded… Aside from that, the Game looks amazing so far d(^_^)
@@BionicDirector117 According to the empire the Emperor is alive and well and there's no need to feed him any kind of souls. If an inquisitor heard that line the entire group would be purged just for being in the general area.
@@pezzington9150 I've never once heard anyone say that. All the 40k literature, including the Gaunts ghost novels which are purely normal guardsmen know he sits on the golden throne. 40k lore is super disjointed since the writers never seem to collaborate properly, but the knowledge that the GE sits on the golden throne after the horus heresy is one that I've only ever read them write as common knowledge. Where did you read otherwise?
Really digging this game and love the look of the cultists. My biggest question though is if you'd be able to pause it if you played solo offline like you could in other games like Left 4 Dead 2 in case of a situation like a bathroom break or some other reason. What I mean by pausing is that the game won't continue in the background leaving your character vulnerable to attack like it would in online co-op or multi-player games. It's understandable online, but not so much if you're playing on your own offline. Edit: Should have clarified, bot teammates while solo.
I remenmber from an interview that this game is much more coop heavy, its not balance for solo play in any way so i would not be surpriced if it does nto pause whem playing solo
@@GrayFolxy naaah, that wouldnt be fun at all for me, and probably most vermintide 2 players, I wouldn't wanna have the ability to simply delete entire hordes in a single quick swoop, probably satisying the first few times but it'll get old REALLY quick, that's exactly why Spacehulk Deathwing is an underwhelming af game. The combat of Vermintide 2 is too good for it to be...put aside by that sort of thing, imo. And apart from the Ogryn, even with rules of fun, I think people will be very confused on how sth like a heavy bolter/autocannon, which even requires 2 Catachans to operate most of the times as emplacement weapons, can be hulled around by a single normal human. If the Ogryn can carry them, I hope we'll get very limited ammo, and act similarly to the Trollhammer Torpedo from Vermintide 2, as a specialized elite/boss killer weapon. I'm not saying it ain't possible though, I mean, we even saw special Ogryns in gameplays carrying giant galtling guns/auto cannons and stuff around and shoot at us, albeit very...clumsily. I think they also want the Ogryn to stay as a tank, with limited engagement range, less excelled at dealing with targets taking shots at you from far away
@Anonymous maybe maybe, but heck, even Nord Deddog ain't the brightest mind, he still hulls around a Ripper Gun after all xD. Ofc, it is not unknown for Ogryns to hull around autocannons, but even then they're used as clubs, with ammo expended pretty quickly in continuous fire xV. Reckon a smart Ogryn is still pretty dumb compared to human guardsmen, and even then, they come around rarely.
Necromunda has human size autocannons, heavy bolters, lascannon and machineguns. -Heavy bolters are mostly used by goliaths -Orlock are often saw with autocannons and heavy machineguns. -Escher use lascannon. All this weapons are backpack feed it weapons and of course they use bionic augments I remenber that one Catachan soldier used a heavy bolter by himself
one of the things i loved the most about vermintide unrelated to gameplay was the interactions between the characters which even now with the newest update brings the story so much more interesting and you start to love the characters and feel they love each other even when they constantly mock one another. was affraid this elements would be out the window when they said you can make your own characters with classes instead but seems they really made it work anyways glad to see it and the gameplay looks great aswell
kinda cool, weird dialogue though, its highly doubtful anyone of this low level would know what the golden throne was let alone that it was failing. I'd also like to see more emphasis on ranged combat this feels like a vermintide reskin, I guess it is what it is.
The veteran straight up mentioned the Cicatrix Maledictum (meaning this is the 42nd millennium now). To be fair, he is a veteran, and might have actually served across the galaxy. But the average hiver often doesn't know what the bloody _sun_ is, far less know about the galaxy at large. The Golden Throne, however is part of imperial religious iconography and belief. Everyone would know what it was--at least, they'd know the ecclesiarchal version of it.
