I was extremely low on potassium a few years ago and everyone thought I was using drugs or something because I was always sweating, very tired like nodding, and muscle pain. I was taking a medication that caused this side effect. I haven’t stopped taking it but now I added supplements and the symptoms lasted for months before I found out. After taking the supplements it was amazing how fast I recovered and immediately felt much better.
@Ms.Anne26

@@Ms.Anne26 potassium, magnesium, and B12 all separate pills. I started with the potassium by itself per doctors orders until I could get regular blood results back. But it made me feel better right away with only the potassium, I added the others later on for energy and nerve pain. I also started to eat more foods like spinach, broccoli, and bananas.

@@aquaseahorselove3939 i got a shot from the doctor, but he told me to take over the counter supplements daily until my next blood work. Some of the cheaper brands are only 99mg so you need to find the more pure organic ones that are a bit more expensive.
@ridgebriar17
@ridgebriar17 Год назад
@@aquaseahorselove3939 It seems everyone struggling with low potassium is then faced with how to ingest enough to meet the very high recommended RDA amount of 4700 MG since supplements are only allowed to include 99 mg Max. I wasted a lot of time and money .... and had to ingest a lot of high caloric foods to try and reach the 4700 mg - UNTIL I discovered that salt substitute carried by most grocery stores ... most SALT SUBSTITUTES are made of granular POTASSIUM chloride - AND JUST 1/4 TEASPOON, IS A WHOOPING 690 MG OF POTASSIUM. I started by mixing it with tomato juice or V8 that are both high in Potassium and when POTASSIUM chloride is added it can climb to 1500 mg or more with just a small serving. I also will mix the salt substitute with lemon water for a boost - however, if in a hurry and don't want to add a bunch of extra calories, you can just mix it with water. Those are quick easy ways of getting a lot of Potassium without a lot of calories, time or expense. I just wish I had known that a granular salt substitute, was loaded with Potassium when I first started to supplement Potassium - as I could have achieved high levels so much faster.

My experience with this is I recently stopped drinking alcohol. The alcohol “withdrawals” I was having was scaring me so bad and everybody was telling me that I couldn’t quit cold Turkey. So I go the dr and he said I needed to be medicated. I said no out of fear of relapsing with a drug habit. So I started researching for myself and came across magnesium and potassium deficiency and I quit drinking alcohol cold Turkey with spinach and avocado smoothies. Alcohol withdrawal is almost the same exact symptoms. Alcohol consumption depletes your body of both of these. So if anybody is struggling with alcohol, drink green smoothies. You will begin to feel better almost immediately ❤️

Instead of consuming carb-laden potatoes and fructose-laden bananas, you can get potassium from coconut water and from cream of tartar (just a pinch in a small glass of warm water). Also, please beware of reducing sodium in the diet - sodium is required for electrical activities and other metabolic processes to take place. To maintain a healthy metabolism, sodium must be consumed in balance with the other 4 electrolytes.

I know what you mean. I told my doctor I feel breathless. She told me I was googling stuff then claiming to have symptoms. I couldn’t believe it. When I told my brother, he was so mad he wanted to go and punch her lights out. Needless to say, I didn’t let him. I changed gp, and my new doctor referred me to a chest clinic. The consultant acknowledged I had fibromyalgia but she said she wanted to rule out sleep apnea. She gave me a questionnaire and I only ticked one box out the whole page. She still insisted on sending me for a sleep apnea test. What an amazing consultant. It turned out I had mild sleep apnea which was why I’d wake up feeling worst than when I went to bed. The hospital however discovered that my oxygen levels didn’t correlate with the sleep apnea findings. For some reason my oxygen levels were lower than they should’ve been with the sleep apnea. So although they don’t give a cpap machine for mild sleep apnea, they did give it to me. Yes I’m grateful for that. But I would’ve preferred they had investigated the cause of low oxygen levels. It could’ve been something as simple as low potassium levels. I never did get used to the cpap. Being a side sleeper I couldn’t sleep with the mask. After seeing this video I’m going to get some potassium supplements God willing. For you, I recommend changing your gp. And also making a complaint to the surgery manager/higher authority that your health concerns aren’t being treated seriously. All the best!

You might want to look into Dr. Bergs video's on Sea Salt as well. But for the potassium I need to say, never take more than 700mg at once, it can shock your heart. You have to spread the doses out throughout the day. At least two hours apart from each other. I put 1/4 tsp on the back of my tongue, and swallow it down with water. I do this 4-5 times a day. However I'm an extreme case. You might only need to do this two or three times a day. Only take it when you have the symptoms, and that will tell you how often you need to take it. 😊

A single 80mg tablet isn’t enough to do anything to anyone. It may irritate the stomach if you don’t wash it down well. In general though potassium in food is absorbed more slowly than in pills. There’s less danger of a sudden increase in potassium level that could cause bad problems.

I don't know why, but my body seems hyper sensitive to salt and seems to have trouble holding onto potassium, but despite this my blood pressure is almost always healthy, except for when I over heat. It's been very confusing. I eat a ton of bananas and milk and am gonna try to eat potatoes more, too. For magnesium I eat almonds and I also have a magnesium body cream and bath salt, and a type of antacid that contains magnesium. It's pretty insane because just one salty meal can make me feel like I'm over heating and my muscles become sore and agitated, and then it takes hours of forcing myself to eat bananas and almonds and guzzling ice water while slathering myself in that magnesium cream. I've seen a lot of doctors and specialists for my problems and we've ruled out so much that it's tentatively diagnosed as fibromyalgia, but I never got around to tackling the salt factor in this fully, and don't have insurance this year.
@qryptid
@qryptid Год назад
I also got a fibromyalgia diagnosis years ago, I feel like Dr's slap that on anyone they can't find an actual answer for. I've found it easier to eat more potatoes and spinach and broccoli to help my levels. Surprisingly a lot of leafy greens have high levels of potassium. I hadnt heard of almonds for magnesium, I'll have to keep some around but yeah, I think going for a variety of foods can make it easier to balance your diet in these kind of situations, and keeps it from being too repetitive if you're not about that. Bananas do be good tho.
@ANPC-pi9vu
@ANPC-pi9vu Год назад
@@qryptid Yeah, it's tough because fibro is basically a name for a collection of symptoms with an unknown cause. The purpose of it as a diagnosis is to acknowledge something really is wrong and that the person's symptoms are real despite not being able to diagnose a cause. So far I know of one study that found pain receptors on systemic nerves that aren't supposed to have them, but I have no clue if further studies have been able to replicate that result. It would explain a lot, though, as fibromyalgia seems to essentially mean that we are abnormally sensitive to certain stimuli such as temperatures, irritants, hormone fluctuations, dietary factors etc. For example, I have a relative who has multiple autoimmune diseases, but her fibromyalgia diagnosis still stands because there are symptoms she has that aren't accounted for by her autoimmune diseases.

If you are low on Potassium ... start including a granular Salt Substitute (which includes a high concentration of Potassium Chloride) .... which us usually around **680 mg*** of Potassium with just 1/4 teaspoon, I mix mine into tomato juice to rapidly increase Potassium levels, Until l discovered this .... I was stuffing myself with food just to reach the amount oif potassium I needed - adding a lot of unnecessary calories and time and expense when all needed was Potassium. Sometimes I just mix the granular Potassium substitute with water and mix it in and drink it if I am in a hurry - a quick inexpensive way to get 700 (from just 1/4 teaspoon salt substitute) to 2100 mg of Potassium.

Many times a food that is labeled LOW SODIUM ... is loaded with POTASSIUM CLORIDE because it is often used as a Salt Substitute. I eventually purchased a granular Salt Substitute to add to my food .... or mixed with water to drink. Just 1/4 teaspoon of POTASSIUM CLORIDE - adds about 680 grams of Potassium to your diet, Since the daily requirement is 4700 mg ... adding a salt substitute to your daily regimen is a fast way to increase you Potassium levels. One of my favorites is drinking LOW SODIUM V8 JUICE - which is loaded with POTASSIUM. I will often add a granular salt substitute (Potassium Cloride) to the V8 as a quick and healthy way to further increase Potassium Levels. A couple of years ago I suddenly had non stop heart palpations, muscle twitches .... and significantly weakened muscles. - despite taking adequate levels of magnesium ..etc. It was a scary situation ... and ONLY found the solution after watching a video on Low Potassium - which can suddenly occur after a very "stressful events", that causes Potassium levels to rapidly get depleted or flushed out of body - something most people do not realize. After I started adding Potassium to my diet via a Salt Substitute ... within a very short time, ALL those symptoms went away.

@@VoVina111 Hmmmm yeah they just discovered it was Anemia that they kept missing. Maybe you're low in iron somewhere, I really hate the medical field for missing it for so many years despite me vouching that it was iron more than potassium. They screw so many people over with their lack of investigating and dismissals.

@@VoVina111 I have a question. If it's true that 97% of the potassium in in the cells of the body vs in the blood, then would a blood test reflect an accurate range of where most of it is. Also if potassium is utilized to move sugar out of the blood wouldnt a high sugar/carb diet, severely deplete potassium (and B vites and zinc).? I wonder how many people actually get 4700mg. of potassium.

@@Needless2say LIke most people who suffer needlessly from a Potassium levels due to the lack of proper information ... after a lot of research, I eventually discovered that adding Potassium Chloride VIA a GRANULAR Salt Substitute to my diet was a very quick easy way to increase potassium levels WITHOUT the added calories, time and expense of a lot of Potassium loaded foods. Adding a Granular Salt Substitute (aka Potassium Chloride) to your regimen, something usually found next to Salt in grocery stores - a fast, easy way to add Potassium to your diet ...as just 1/4 teaspoon = 680 mg of Potassium. I prefer to mix mine with low sodium V8 or any tomato juice .....OR just mix it into a glass of water. FYI - most Low Sodium drinks and foods are loaded with Potassium - AS FOOD MANUFACTURERS often use POTASSIUM CHROLIDE AS A SALT SUBSTITUTE. .

Also didn't mention that potassium is imperative for all involuntary muscles of the body which are in the brain, heart, intestines, and bladder. Otherwise great content. And of course coconut water wout sugar

I love how almost every video anymore uses images or text in the thumbnails that either have nothing to do with the video, are fake AI, or totally misleading. 🙄 Am I the only person who recognizes that this is a total red flag if people are willing to use misleading click bait to get your attention?

This is hugely useful. When I discovered a bradycardia and ventricular arrhythmia it improved with potassium and magnesium so it's less frequent now...but the way it starts probably is chronic, not acute...I didn't get pro help on it but I can see by the math for it that I should have considered electrolytes more for several years...since I sweat a lot and then had night sweats on top of it. So, I started a full-on health regime, the HGH-increasing amino acids per the Isidori study, the b-vitamins per Dr. Abram Hoffer, the father of orthomolocular medicine, whey and selenium now is well-researched as a glutathione AND anabolic increaser, Gynostemma Jiaogulan may be the best adaptogen and can do maybe three times what ginseng does...going towards 69 and feeling like 42...nice plateau for me, hope it lasts...

After watching this, I think I might have potassium deficiency. Might need to stock up some bananas in my future. Weakness and fatigue, occasional cramps

At 6:40 it is stated that "a lack of potassium may cause a condition called hyperkalemia." Is that an error? Should it be called hypokalemia instead?
