I think that line was foreshadowing Bonnie & Clyde's demise, just like the whole of "Dyin' Ain't So Bad," which Bonnie sings about her love for Clyde, is really portending Buck & Blanche's fate -- she ended up behind and alone when he died.
I know this is 2 years old but blanches first line in her memoir is "people only live happily ever after in fairy tales" and then goes on to describe her love for buck. that line might be a nod to that
@@m_of_greengables First chorus is Bonnie goes Up & Second chorus Blanche goes up & the final line harmony Bonnie goes up.I think it switches to enhance how they both feel the same.
BONNIE: I know my heart don't care what people say. All I know is that I've never felt like this. And besides I wouldn't change him if I could No man's all good. BLANCHE: I always knew what I was taking on. But I always felt that I could change his ways. Even if my man will never fall in line Glad he's mine. BOTH: 'Cause you love who you love And you cant help how you make. You don't have no say, your heart decides It's that simple I'm afraid. Yes you love who you love Common sense may say its wrong There's a part of him you know is wild Maybe that's what made you love him all along. BONNIE: I only care that he's mine and I am his. There ain't no rules that's how it is. Most girls would hate to be Standing in my shoes But true love's something you don't choose. BOTH: Oh you love who you love And you go with what you feel. BLANCHE: And you never think what's down the road While the fairy tale seems real. BOTH: Oh you love who you love Common sense may say it's wrong. BONNIE: There's a part of him you know is wild Maybe that's what made you him love him all along. BOTH: Could be that's what made you love him all along.
Call Me Nefret 1st question; when was this show on Broadway, how long was the Run? Also, are you or anyone you know interested in the Story of Bonnie and Clyde?
The show should've had a longer run on Broadway. It's disgusting that it didn't. It got rave reviews out of town, but then the NY theater snobs (like the odious Ben Brantley, who thinks he's God's gift to mankind) had to piss all over it. Frank Wildhorn is not a popular or revered figure in NYC, and almost all of his shows flop. Granted, some of them are terrible (like 2011's WONDERLAND), but B&C was really good. If a shit show like CATS (which is basically a revue with adults dressed up as felines) can run an astounding 18 years, then B&C deserved the same chance. At least it got Tony-nominated for its music and one for Laura Osnes as Best Actress in a Musical.( Jeremy Jordan was also nominated but for NEWSIES, in which he starred immediately after B&C closed shop.)
Bonnie: Most girls would hate to be standing in my shoes. But true love’s something you don’t choose. Both: For you love who you love. And you go with what you feel. Blanche: And you never think what’s down the road While the fairytale seems real. Both: Oh you love who you love. Common sense may say it’s wrong Blanche: There’s a part of him you know is wild. Bonnie: Maybe that’s what made you love him all along. Both: Could be that’s what made you love him all along.
