These commercials aired on WCGV in February/March of 1990
1. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" Commercial Bumper
2. Super Golden Crisp
3. Tetris for NES (Considered the definitive version of the game by most players. My only gripe with the NES Tetris is the lack of the classic "Type A" Game Boy music: • Game Boy Tetris Music A )
4. Shark Bites Fruit Snacks
5. AFX Pop Cycles
6. Cheerios
7. Animal Crackers Pet Centers (Gotta love local ads like this)
8. Fox Kids Club Happy Presidents Day Interstitial
9. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" Commercial Bumper
10. Teddy O's (WARNING: may permanently transform your dad into a bear)
11. Hot Wheels
12. Fox Kids Club
13. Cinnamon Toast Crunch
14. Barnyard Commandos Action Figures
15. Incredible Edible Eggs
16. Oatmeal Swirlers
17. Record Breakers Dual Turbo Series
18. Transformers Micro Master Combiners
19. Nabisco Nintendo World Championships Contest (I know that the NWC 1990 Gold Cartridge is considered the holy grail...but that tote bag with the NWC logo on it is also pretty cool)
20. Record Breakers Road Burner Series
21. Chuck E Cheese's
22. Cinnamon Toast Crunch
23. Fox Kids Club High School Art Exhibition at Milwaukee Art Museum PSA
24. Flippits
25. Spy Tech
26. Crunch Berries Cereal
27. Promo for "Fun House" (I remember watching this after school with my sister around this time, just before "Silver Spoons" was on. It was certainly no Double Dare but it was entertaining enough at the time. The giant maze at the end was essentially ripped off for Nickelodeon's "Legends Of The Hidden Temple")
28. Barnyard Commandos Action Figures
29. Peanut Butter Crunch Cereal
30. Barnyard Commandos Action Figures (I guess they were really pushing these things? Makes sense that commercials for other Playmates properties would air during TMNT. I don't even remember if I actually watched the cartoon or if it was even on in my area)
31. Thunder Jets Fruit Snacks
32. Fox Kids Club Artists
33. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Badges at Burger King (With Jonathan Taylor Thomas)
34. Micro Machines Secret Auto Supplies
35. McDonald's (These kids look like they're in middle school...I really doubt they'd be assigned to read Moby Dick and write a report on it)
36. Cheetos (Their old packaging was so much more classy than the bright orange they have today. Yes, I used the word "classy" to describe something related to Cheetos)
37. Turbo Tricksters
38. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Party Wagon, Foot Cruiser and Pizza Thrower (I had all of these, the Pizza Thrower was great fun)
39. Fox Kids Club Artists
40. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" Commercial Bumper
41. Kool-Aid Wacky Warehouse (With Mystery Gift offer)
42. Cap'n Crunch Cereal
43. Promo for "Fun House"
44. Little Lost And Founds
45. Golden Grahams

With the arcade game having hit the previous year from when these commercials aired and the first live action movie about to come out, this video definitely represents the peak of TMNT mania.

These commercials from 1990 are not only great to see again, but were a big part of my childhood. Everything from toys, cereal, food snacks, & video games. This volume reminds me that I had a great childhood indeed, especially as a 7-year-old kid in 1990. Thanks for these 😊

That Tetris commercial is so iconic love it one of my favorites. I love the kid fist pumping after clearing two lines on level 2 lol. Great batch.

It only took 34 years for somebody to beat Tetris for NES and make it to the killscreen.

Animal Crackers Pet Centers- Seeing that this pet store shares a name with a snack food, someone who didn’t know better would be disappointed to find that the animals in this store are not of the edible variety. 13.Cinnamon Toast Crunch- Flour looks more like steam than smoke when thrown down on the table like that in this commercial, I’ve noticed.

That dog flew to the Nintendo World Championship? Doesn’t he know the proper way is to hitchhike cross country and get in zany adventures like in The Wizard?

As good as Nintendo Tetris is, the Tengen version for NES is absolutely better, due to a two player mode. Sadly, due to a legal dispute between Nintendo and Atari, the Tengen version had to be pulled from shelves.
@Panzer83

The Tengen version of Tetris also has great music compared to the Nintendo version. All in all, both versions are good in their own right.

Fun House and LOTHT were made by the same production company (Stone Stanley). Also, one could make the argument that the Fun House house was a combination of the Double Dare obstacle course and the Finders Keepers house.

I didn't realize they were made by the same production company, so apologies to Olmec, Kirk Fogg and the entire crew of Legends Of The Hidden Temple. Please don't send Temple Guards after me.

FunHouse airing at 730 in the morning is kind of early for such a popular show. I remember in my area it aired around 4 in the afternoon.

I agree Double Dare was better, but Fun House was entertaining. My sister and I have an episode of it on an old VHS. It's a special celebrity episode, featuring (I think) Danny Pintauro and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Man 1990 was kind of an extension of the 80s. 90s culture hadn't started quite yet. A lot of these commercials are carry overs from the 80s. Basically, my point is that the 80s hadn't quite left commercials yet, and I think it would be a couple more years before that would happen. I was about 2 years old when these commercials were airing on tv.

I agree, but that is what happens with every decade; I feel like the 90's actually started showing itself in commercials around, like, 1993? I know many will probably disagree, but even with the early 00's, it still felt like the late-90's.
@80sCommercialVault
@80sCommercialVault 5 месяцев назад
IMO by 1992 the 90's had essentially gained their own identity and were no longer an extension of the late 80's. Many cite "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and the rise of grunge/alternative rock in late '91/early '92 to essentially mark the end of the 80's in pop culture.
@andrejg4136
@andrejg4136 4 месяца назад
There is always a couple of years of lag when the last of the popular things from the previous decade filters out of culture and are replaced with things that are inevitably associated with the current decade. Like, the 2010s didn't feel as such until like 2012 at the earliest.

@@80sCommercialVault I hated that grunge stuff. I was a much bigger fan of the synth pop from the mid to late 80's. Technotronic was also great back in 1990, including MC Hammer etc etc. The tail end of the 80's definitely trickled into 90 & 91, and maybe 92. 93 was when the 90's really started to have it's own identity. Unfortunately, the 90's went down hill quickly in 96. Pop culture was pretty much dead by the very early 2000's.
@80sCommercialVault
@80sCommercialVault Месяц назад
I don't really feel like arguing this stuff because it's all subjective, but for me personally, 1992 absolutely felt "different" than 90/91 and IMO pretty much all cultural spillover from the 80's died that year.

I keep seeing cheerios commercials with that o dude, but he's so obscure I can't even find information on him on wikipedia, everything just pretends like the cheerios bee has always been the mascot since day one. Who is that mysterious mascot? Were the cheerios people so embarrassed by him they eliminated him from record or something?
@80sCommercialVault
@80sCommercialVault 6 месяцев назад
The Cheerios Bee is only the mascot for Honey Nut Cheerios. This other mascot was short lived and may have only existed in their ads for 1990.
