i drove there today and the fee was 15 dollars . and the lanes where packed so who ever is getting all this money is getting paid phat .

@@matthewbiehl3412 Yeah and we also pay per mile for every mile we drive on every road in any state. Loaded empty bob tail. Another $10,000 or more a year. In IFTA taxes we pay for every mile and we are double taxed on toll roads because the states don’t separate toll road mileage from other mileage. So crawl back in your car and keep paying maybe $1,000 a year and complain about people that are paying 10 or more times a year in highway taxes than you’re paying not paying their fair share!

Plus the tax on diesel that is supposed to go to fix the roads

@@titoyama5760 All fuel gas or diesel taxes are supposed to be used to keep up the highways. Typically each state charges a different rate from each other per gallon on fuels. But if you look you’ll find they charge more generally on diesel. A typical per gallon on diesel is around $.30 a gallon gas is also around that per gallon. But keep in mind a big truck will use depending on the drivers, one or two, around 100 gallons of fuel for a single driver. So that’s $30 a day just in state fuel taxes. We haven’t even gotten to Federal taxes yet. And that’s just one day there’s 7 days in a week. So your typical car driver pays for less. Be lucky to find a car driver that would 100 gallons in 3 months.

The way express lanes work, they need that toll to be able to offer a no-traffic alternative. If tolls were lower, everyone would just hop on the express lanes, they would have just as much traffic as regular lanes, and the whole benefit would be lost. And you may be thinking, "if those express lanes became regular lanes, wouldn't traffic go down for everyone," but this is not the case, because jammed up roads move less cars than free flowing ones, and since there would be more people looking to use the general lanes (since you would have taken away the express alternative), and less roads capacity(because the express lanes would now be carrying traffic at a slower rate), there would be increased traffic. Basically, taking away express lanes or taking away their tolls would be a lose-lose for everyone. People currently stuck in traffic on the regular lanes would continue being stuck in traffic, those willing to pay the toll, carpool, or take an express bus to escape traffic would lose that alternative, and the city would lose an additional source of income to invest in other projects (yes, transit projects help reduce traffic too, just Google the Downs-Thompson Paradox)

i drive a lot and when i go outside my zone im usually thinking to myself "man im glad we dont have these tolls in my area" a year later, boom toll lanes all up in my shit. now everyday i drive by them i want to throw a damn molotov cocktail at the signs
