The fact that the boy said he was tied up because it was his fault, completely broke me. This will stay with him probably his whole life. This is trauma that won't go away. I feel for them.

Keep in mind that what Jodi and Ruby consider “porn” is not the same as what we would consider pornography. For example, Ruby considers Flo Rida’s song “Flo” as hard core porn. Women in bikinis is “porn” to them. Jodi has destroyed the reputations of several Mormon men in divorce proceedings by accusing them of consuming “porn” and s*xually “assaulting” others, not unlike what Ruby is accusing her own child(ren) of doing.

I've heard the call a few times now, and every time the man chokes up, I can't help but cry. Those poor children have suffered and endured so much. 😔

You guys need to watch the interview with Jessi, Jody’s niece. Apparently all the stuff that happened to these kids is Jody’s MO. Jessi talks about how when she was living with Jody, Jody basically tortured her and gaslighted her into confessing to things she didn’t do. She said that Ruby accusing her 12 year old of SA and p*rn addiction are exactly things the Jody accused Jessi of and gaslighted her into believing she had done when she lived with Jody. She also admitted the restraints made of duct tape and the isolation were also tactics used by Jody.

It really hurt to hear the kid say that everything that happened to him was his "fault". Ruby really conditioned him....

As a 12 yr old who had to call the cops on my own parent, ik how much the CPS rlly DOESNT care about child situations. After they came to my house they never followed up again. So I want to give a little bit of context: Jodi is the main evil in this particular scenario. She’s the one that was holding the kids, Ruby most likely dropped her kids off for Jodi to “handle”. So based on what Jodi’s niece said in an interview , what Jodi does is use religious manipulation and abuse to handle what she considers “sexual deviance”. Which would explain why his mom told the court he literally molested other kids and needed to be tied up. PERSONALLY, even from my own experience with religious manipulation, I believe it’s completely made up, and based on their beliefs they’re forcing the kid to “own up” to what is most likely non existent sexual behavior. She accused him of watching porn since he was THREE, which doesn’t even make sense. I think this is a horribly evil case of two members of a church using its doctrines, taking them too far, and using them to control and abuse children to make them obedient.

This is so messed up but unfortunately its not the first time I've heard of this kind of thing. We had two boys whose parents chained them up in the basement for years before anyone figured it out. The parents were both teachers and very active in the church. It shook our whole community. I can't understand why people do this.

Just wanna say, if an abused child came to my house and their abuser was running around looking for them, I would hide them and fight to keep that poor baby protected.

i am so grateful this info has gone into national news, there are sadly a lot of mormon families like hers in utah and idaho. i knew kids who got punished for all sorts of crazy shit and made to feel like it was their fault. you often do not have a good experience growing up in utah non lds unless you live in the bigger cities. i specifically remember going to a school in provo utah and had a bully who went to my principal's lds church. my principal would not believe me even after a teacher saw the boy hurting me all because "that boy is a good lds child and would never do that!". that is one of the reasons this stuff gets so out of hand, people do not report it and do their best to hide that they know what is going on

From what I understand, the Mormon church connected them when she was looking for help with her oldest son (therapy). The Mormon church endorses Jodi Hildebrandt as a legit therapist even after her torturing her niece and both the church and Jodi completely ruined another man's life after connecting him up with Jodi. His story is just as horrific. He was a survivor of sexual abuse in the boy scouts and the Mormon church - went to seek treatment in therapy when he had martial issues. The church recommended Jodi because they knew she could break him and keep him from going after the church legally for the abuse and opening up and telling his story. He was the reason why she lost her therapist license. She breeched therapist client privacy laws. She later got her license back and was able to continue to destroy lives. Details are still coming out about Jodi, but for real she is a monster that shouldn't fade into the background of this scandal with Ruby Franke. It's all unimaginably awful - the innocent lives they've both ruined. I just pray the parents they've given advice to aren't literally torturing their kids like these pieces of sh*t human beings did. I hope they have better sense and a beating heart that loves and protects children from this sick toxic religious bullshit. I'm a survivor of captivity and torture. It changes you in ways people can't possibly fathom. Even I struggle to understand how it's changed me, but I've learned to love myself through the twisted brainwashing I've suffered. Jodi Hildebrandt's niece said that her aunt was on a referral list in the Mormon church for counselors. That's how they met. Jodi was the oldest son's counselor.

I think these types of people have a lot of kids for income reasons, but also they use them like slaves. Ruby’s children did every chore in her house while she laid back.

The guy calling the cops, at first it sounded like he was reporting a missing kid being like “yeah he probably won’t need an ambulance” and then probably took a better look at the kid and realized how badly the kid was abused and then the reality sunk in that he’s been living next to. And then he starts breaking down on the call. That’s what it sounds like to me.

My mother did the same to me 5 years ago. I ran barefoot, bloody and injured to a nearby friends house and called the police. I was contemplating wether I should snitch on my mother but that just shows how much brainwashing they put you through. I’m also estranged from my siblings because she doesn’t allow them to talk to me. I don’t wish this on my worst enemy. Truly

there's a lot of insight into how her Mormonism factors into this abusive situation on the recent Fundie Fridays interview with JordanandMcKay (ex Mormons). Especially amongst Utah Mormons, there is SUCH a cultural focus on being the perfect skinny blond mom with little perfectly-behaved blond children, so her almost giddy focus on how strict she is with her children just comes off as "I'm SUCH a better mom than you, look at how many punishments I can dole out." plus some obvious narcissism.

This makes me so sad because I used to watch 8 passengers before I caught onto what was going on and I’m so sad for Russell and Eve (Russell is definitely the one who approached the neighbors). That boy was a sweet child and clearly struggled with anxiety due to how Ruby treated him. I hate that woman.
