SRNA's Krissy Dilger was joined by Drs. Eoin Flanagan and Rohini Samudralwar for an Ask the Expert podcast on "MOG Antibody Disease: Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines." The experts gave an overview of the diagnostic tests used for MOGAD and how it is differentiated from other demyelinating conditions. They explain the acute treatments used following an attack, as well as guidelines for ongoing preventative therapies. Finally, the experts discuss research into MOGAD and future considerations for treatment.

Hi, I am an Anti MOG encephlitis with seizures patient. Currently on Phenytoin, and an extreme regime of supplements/ vitamins targeting reduction of inflammation ( regime constructed by family Rheumatologists/hepatologist). 23 hour intermittent fasting + vegetarian keto diet. Initial treatment was 5 X 1000ml steroids, 2 treatments IVIG. Reply to my comment if you have questions. Thanks for the content.

Hello please help ! How long do Attacks typically last
@wearesrna
@wearesrna 2 года назад
Hi Susan, we asked Dr. Samudralwar your question, and this was her response: "Clinical attacks in MOGAD last at least 24-48 hours and are constant in nature without too much fluctuation. Without treatment, depending on the severity of the attack, symptoms could remain long-term. With treatment, especially steroids early on, can provide partial to full recovery within days. Many times this might also involve physical and occupational therapy to help."

Is MOG In any way, shape or form, deadly ?
@wearesrna
@wearesrna 2 года назад
Hello, we asked an expert in MOG antibody disease, Dr. Michael Levy, and here is his response: "While an attack associated with MOG has the potential to be fatal based on location and severity of the attack, MOGAD in and of itself is not considered to be a fatal disorder. We also don’t entirely know the risk of recurring attacks in MOG, as we know they will occur in NMOSD without ongoing treatment."
